As soon as we entered we were greeted right away with a warm welcome. I loved the boxes with the Chicago skyline on them. I thought these would make perfect gifts & are at a great price. They also had prepackaged bags with candy or in the glass cases were single pieces if you were just looking for a little taste. We will definitely be back to get some of gift boxes! read more

The toffee here is consistently great, but unfortunately, the customer service is not & encounters with nasty people (esp the business owners!) just sticks with me. My recent visit left me feeling unwelcome--enough that, while I completed my purchase with the owner of the shop!, I decided I wouldn't be returning. When I mentioned my experience to a friend, they immediately responded, 'Oh, I don't go there--the owner is rude.' That alone speaks volumes. If customer service matters to you, just be aware that the interactions here may not match the quality of the product. I truly hope the owner considers creating a warmer, more positive experience for customers--it takes only a few minutes but makes all the difference. However now that I've seen all the other negative Yelp reviews - dating back several years, I'm thinking..... perhaps she's gotten very lucky & online orders sustain her business. read more

This is a must if your in town to enjoy the people watching and lazy afternoon bench warming. Upon entering you will find many sweet choices of chocolate goodness. We opted for frozen bananas. Nice dense chocolate dip coating with a choice of nuts or candy sprinkles. The woman at the counter was very pleasant and helpful. The price is on par with the quality. Thank you but no thank you. I try to buy local....I really do. I did not read the reviews before I walked in. I just read them now. I get it. The owner is not good with customers. I experienced my own situation. I went in for an ice cream and saw they had white chocolate toffee. I needed a gift for a friend that only eats white chocolate. They have a sign that says free samples so I asked for a sample of the milk chocolate as that is what I like and also politely asked for a sample of the white chocolate and was told they really don't give two samples. These samples are the size of a dime. I said ok. (I didn't move forward with buying my friend toffee) I understand not giving 2 samples when you have a store full of 6th graders and they all ask for 3 samples and don't buy anything. I connect with a product, tell EVERYONE they need to buy it and I buy gifts for many people in my life consistently. I did not connect with the toffee, nor could my friend that did not get the gift bought for her. I bought an ice cream (without asking for a sample) It was not impressive, a scrawny scoop and super expensive. It is a Saturday afternoon. I've just ridden my bicycle from the northern edge of Brookfield to the La Grange post office, and feel like having something to satisfy my sweet tooth. The candy store is selling a $1.00 root beer float. The float is possibly the smallest root beer float I've ever purchased, but it is actually bigger than I'd expected for a dollar, and just the right size to satisfy my sweet tooth without destroying my diet. The only fly in the ointment is that the white chocolate coated toffee is so good that I've eaten two of them. Guess I'll have to ride my bike the long way home in order to burn off those extra calories... but it is well worth it! read more

I was so disappointed. I took a elderly client into this shop for after lunch toffee. Karen was rude to him & Me. I asked her, How's your day? She replied " Fine until you two walked in". I replied, what? The disposition that she presented to A white gentleman customer and an African American Chef . In which was myself. I was appalled and insulted by the unprofessionalism. Extremely overpriced, and falsely advertised. I went in with my mom and brother to get a "cheap root beer float"..... cheap alright. It was a Dixie cup. A shot of Root Beer and a pinch of ice cream. After having lunch down the street, I ran in here for 2 pieces of toffee while my friend got the car. The total came to $2.30. I had 2 -$1 bills, 1-$100 bill, a debit card and a credit card. The obnoxiously evil, unreasonable cashier refused to take payment I offered her and instead told me to buy 1 piece! Seriously? Make change, take the debit card or the credit card...OR lose the $.30 because you're unprepared. Instead of buying the 1 piece, I opted to buy none and write this review. Been meaning to try this place for a while because I live right by it. Stopped by on Saturday to buy my mom some English Toffee- I've seen the sign before but never tried it. The cashier gave me a sample and it was divine. Decided to also buy the Caramel & Pecan roll to bring to a Mother's Day Brunch I was attending. It was out of this world! Everyone loved it and there was not a morsel left over. It almost tastes like a turtle but so much better. This is going to be my new go to whenever I'm going to a party or event. I purchased 1/2 pound of non pareils. The candies came packaged in a plain paper bag, I asked if they could be put in a box or more decorative bag. The response was "yes, but there would be an additional charge of $1.32 ". At over $20 per pound I would think a more appropriate container would be provided. Wow cashier was INCREDIBLY RUDE...was completely irritated that I didn't have cash and when I asked for a root beer float (that they have signs for saying there is one for $1 and one for $3.50) she snapped " we only have one size!" I had to buy $15 worth of overpriced candy because I promised my kid a float and had to spend $15 to use my card. The woman was SO PUT OUT by having to (gasp) run a credit card!!!!!! Very disappointed. My husband was working in the area and wanted to bring home chocolates to sweetest day. He wanted to give Lilett Candies a try! He paid for a box of truffles and a Carmel apple. His total was about 30$. We open the box at home and there were two layers of gold, but only one was filled with chocolate. The one on the bottom was empty. I tried the chocolate and it was delicious, I just wish the girl working the counter gave him what he paid for. I am glad my husband supported small business, but disappointed in the service. read more

The folks at the UPS store next door said this was a "must try" and it is. The fudge is as good as my Mom ever made (and I can never make any as good) and the toffee is addicting. I also loved the double dipped mints at Christmas time and a more recent find, marshmallow and caramel dipped in milk chocolate. Yum! read more
