This place is great. I first came the day before Thanksgiving and it was excellent. I was surprised to see an empanada place in Riverside. I saw they were open for Thanksgiving and that became Thanksgiving dinner. I ended up coming here again to bring things for a friend and then again to bring a box back home to San Diego. I am not vegan, but those vegan spinach and mushroom ones are the best, nit sure what they slice it with thst makes them different from the others. The food all seemed fresh and there is a discount in day old empanadas. They are friendly and quick to help. There are a couple of tables just as you walk in and a bench outside. The food options at Brookfield Zoo are expensive and limited so I did a search and found Empanadus located closeby. Since then, we've picked up empanadas from them 5+ times. Our favorites are: buffalo chicken, pepperoni, vegan potatoes, and our toddler's friend devoured the mushroom one. They're sized a bit smaller than other empanada eateries that we like, but that lets us try more flavors :) They also have chutneys and alfajores available as an add-on. read more

This is really a 4.5 star review but I'll round up because, I guess, because I'm dope. I don't get out here (Riverside) too often so when I do, I try to hit all the top spots and this place kept popping up for their empanadas. The empanadas, as you can see, are a bit smaller but are completely filled with tasty ingredients. The crust is on the thinner side so these are just the right sized hand pies if you want to eat 4 to 6 in one sitting. We went with getting at least 25 so that we could get the discount. I also got suckered into buying a $5 container of chimichurri sauce. My thought is, if I'm getting over 25 empanadas, I should be getting as much chimichurri as I need, agreed?? Not quite, I only got two small containers so I bought extra. Anyway, I loved the mushroom, the Caprese (bursting with flavor - more like a quiche), the Spinach, the Sausage, the Banana Nutella was a 10 star dessert quiche and the apple pie rocked. I liked the chicken and beef for being so flavorful and meaty. There really wasn't a bad empanada in the entire bunch. And - the chimichurri sauce was good too. :) read more

Found this place thanks to Yelp and so happy I did!! They have amazing selection of empanadas which were all delicious! I recommend the spinach and the corn empanadas. Covid review- This south american savory pastry is so good when it is good and my friends it was fantastic here! We got five, many of them the last of the day, around 6 pm. They were in no rank: 1. We most definitely parked on the wrong street, but so glad that we did that we got a chance to walk by YOU empanadus. So I use to stay in Berwyn and I always use to pass this place but I never decided to stop in because I had another Argentine place that I use to buy them from. Now the other place drop the ball and I now live in Orland Park so my wife was I want some empanadas....so bam I stopped by yesterday and let me tell you they are so good and more selection. The only problem that I had was that I purchased 12 empanadas and $2.88 and I only received one small container of chimichurri sauce....yes one for all 12 empanadas, I asked the young lady that was attending me what was that about and she reply's managers rules. Now they have a little jar maybe 2.5 oz for $5 bucks...and this other big one....I just didn't want to ask for the price but I bet it was maybe like $50 bucks or something like that. Anyways that is why I'm giving them 4 stars the other one I'm keeping for managers rules. I know the pandemic and everything but cmon man....12 empanadas one small container....like the one you used for extra ketchup. Today I order 50 empanadas as a treat for my staff. I go to pick up the empanadas and was told because it was one order I would only be eligible for 1 free 2oz chimichurri sauce. After spending the day at the zoo and avoiding overpriced food we decided to use Yelp yet again to find our next meal/snack and that's how we stumbled upon Empanadus. I loved everything about our experience, yes they only have two tables on the inside, it's honestly a tiny building but it's totally worth it. We ordered the bacon, sausage, buffalo chicken and caprese, they were all bite sized but packed so much flavor in every bite on top of the chimi churro sauce they give with the empanadas, this tiny spot was just divine. Just the fact that there exists a dedicated empanada shop in the burbs makes this a five star place for me, but I'm happy to report that it also involves amazing flavors and friendly service! I was thrilled with all the veggie options. Being a vegetarian can be pretty sad when it comes to Latin American food in the suburbs, but at empanadUS there's as many veg items as meat items: caprese, spinach, mushroom, corn, onion, broccoli, and apple. I ordered the mushroom, corn, and spinach. They were all very good, but the flavor of the mushroom was by far the best. Pretty sure I could actually feel the endorphins shooting into my brain as I devoured it along with their excellent Chimichurri sauce. My partner heartily enjoyed the sausage and BBQ pork. Note: You get as much of the Chimichurri as you want when eating in, but when taking out, they only give you one cup of the stuff for every 3 empanadas. I found that I pretty much needed one cup per empanada, so we had to get a few extra at $.50 per cup. Can't wait to return! read more

I don't know much about empanadas, but I do know that these empanadas are excellent. I crave them. I could never say no to an an empanada from here, even if I'm already stuffed. I've depended on EmpanadUS for a quick and affordable lunch. For a mere $2.50 per empanada, you can really load up on a bunch of empanadas for a fairly cheap price. My favorites are probably the sausage one and the ham one, but you really can't go wrong with any of them. I enjoy the vegetarian-friendly ones, too, in particular the corn, spinach, and onion ones. There are also a bunch of beverage options and, somewhat recently, they offer gelato, too. I haven't tried that yet, so I'll have to do that when it gets a little bit warmer out. There is some seating available--a few tables with two high chairs each. I wouldn't count on there necessarily being somewhere to sit, especially during prime eating times, but it's can be nice if you're in the mood. Whenever I've been here, I typically choose to order to go. Also, my review would be remiss without adding that the customer service is really great. Everyone with whom I've interacted with has been really friendly and pleasant. I highly recommend this business to others regularly and I'm glad I can now also recommend EmpanadUS to the Yelp community, as well. read more

Delicious. Cute spot. Empanadas and gelato...we could live here. I really like the beef empanadas. It has olives in it that bring out the juiciness of the meat which complicates the crispy shell. So tasty. Definitely get the sauce even though it costs a little more. The only thing is that it doesn't have a bathroom. There are about three bar tables as seating. Tasty tastiness. Stopped in for lunch, decided not to eat in due to the fact that it was quite small and they had the door propped open despite that it was cold. When they were being put into the container I was a little concerned that I wouldn't be able to easily identify my veggie empanadas from the meaty ones my husband ordered.
