My kids love Auntie Anne's, so that is why I gave it a 4 star. It's conveniently located by the indoor play area for a snack break. But at these prices, it is more of a special treat (large drink and small cup of pretzel nuggets was nearly $10) than an every time purchase. There typically isn't much of a line, unless you go on really busy mall days.

This was the very first Auntie Anne's I've stopped at when my mom and I used to visit Des Moines and shop around at the Merle Hay Mall. Just recently stopped here while on the way home from AnimeIowa last Sunday. My order was the original pretzel with a large lemonade. Service is always fantastic and Auntie Anne's always makes wonderful pretzels. This is always the place to go when you're in a pretzel mood.

I cannot order delivery off of either the website nor off of doordash. I love the food but delivery is always a bad experience.

The atmosphere is upbeat and welcoming, making it a great place to meet up with friends, enjoy a date night, or simply take a break after a day of exploring. We tried the mac & cheese stacked with BBQ and a couple of their fresh brews....everything hit the spot! (PS - Kansas City now also has a Big Grove Brewery!) If you're looking for a local brewery to add to your Des Moines itinerary, this one is definitely worth checking out!

Obviously they have several beer selections, but they also have seltzers, win, liquor, and THC infused sparkling water. We didn't realize the kitchen closed an hour before the actual closing time. We walked in a minute before the kitchen closed and they were really great about making sure we still got to put in a food order. The staff were very welcoming. There are a ton of seating options. They have a decent inside with several little areas that are semi closed which would make this a good place for group functions. The patio outside is pretty big. There is a variety of table sizes, so large parties can be accommodated. They also have several fire pit areas for groups. The inside has 2 large bar seating options. There are plenty of TVs inside and outside in case you are looking for a place to watch sports.

This location is nicely situated in the heart of Johnston and offers a fantastic menu and a wide variety of house made beers and they even have some guest beers on tap. (nice touch). They have mini bowling here and the venue is a grand 2 story building with high lofted ceilings and huge rollup doors to let the outside in. But not today...to hot ! Why only 3 stars? We opted to sit at the bar, because that is what we do. After a while the bar tender finally took our orders, and honestly he was not busy enough from my perspective to warrant that long of a wait. After the initial pause (and honestly we did almost get up ad leave) He was decent enough but left us wanting a more attention the entire time. Moving on.... If you are not aware Backpocket originally started in Coralville and are the original sponsors of the Iowa Craft beer tent that follows along RAGBRAI. I have earned several shirts over the years! #earnedit. IYKYK. Today we were just after beers, but after we saw some of that fancy Mac and Cheese come out we decided to top off the bellies and share a bowl! So glad we did, the Honey Pepper Mac and Cheese is worth the calories and then some. DELICIOUS! Of course the beers were good as always. All in all a good experience and I hope the next time we visit the service is just a bit more hospitable.

Everything was clean and service was friendly. They have lots of cool merchandise and several to-go beers. They do serve food but I didn't try any. I only had a beer because I wasn't at my final destination but they have a pretty wide variety with lots of different styles. I went with one of their flagship beers-the Neon Hazy IPA. I really enjoyed it and even got some to go so that I could enjoy back in KC. Next time I'm passing through, I'm definitely going to stop and hopefully plan a little better so that I can try more beer and food.

I had experienced Barn Town at a beer festival and researched them before visiting town, so I know the experimental candy-influenced collabs are kind of their thing. The PB and Grape Jelly sour was nice and the Watermelon Sour Batch Buddies was the best of the State Fair themed bunch. Everything else packed too much of a flavor punch for me... to the point of upsetting my stomach which NEVER happens when I drink beer. I would actually go back and try some of their flagship (normal) beer offerings and food specials to get a more well rounded opinion of the brewpub.

It is right off the trail, has free water, free live music, free bike parking, and a great patio. Add in cold local beer at fair prices, and it is pretty hard to complain. The people serving were mostly friendly, the beer was very good, and the selection is always great. If you go inside and head up the stairs, the selection gets even better. My only suggestion: please consider selling mix-and-match 4-packs or single cans to go. We wanted to buy some to take with us, but we could not agree on one flavor, so we skipped buying more and just stuck with what came out of the tap. For cyclists, bridge beers and bike beers are a real thing, and it feels like there is a missed opportunity there. That said, we will absolutely be back for all the "free" stuff, the local beer, and that amazing patio. Great trail stop, great beer, and a perfect place to take a break. Keep up the Lord's work. Cheers!

Updating my review after 6 years - but still five stars!…read more This is a movie theater that also brews beer and serves food. And they have no business making food that good!! Going to a movie here has become a tradition for our family when we're home for holidays. We enjoy the control of picking our seats out in advance, and love that they have nice leather reclining seats. We also love that they do their own fun version of "previews" before the actual previews start - funny video clips, related snippets to the movie, etc. It's so personalized and fun! But what we love most isn't the movies at all. It's not even the chairs. IT'S THE GRAVY. Yes, you read that right. They make this pepper gravy that is simply out of this world. My family and I exclusively order the chicken tenders and fries as a mere vehicle for this deliciousness. Oh, and ask for double gravy - you'll need it. For my true Midwesterners: they have perfect "runny restaurant ranch" too! And their fries are divine. I'm sure other things on their menu are good too - we've been recommended their breakfast pizza (it has that gravy as the sauce) and chicken sandwich (again, with gravy as the dipping sauce) so we may branch out soon. We like their drinks too - we've had good cocktails and my brother and dad like their beers! The service is great - they take orders before the movie/during previews and get it out fast so the food/drink service doesn't disrupt the movie watching. They have an app you can order from and a button to push with any requests too. I know it sounds so weird, but we genuinely look forward to movies together so we can all eat fries and gravy on our little trays in a recliner at Flix. The BEST!
