I have way too many CFA points, so naturally I come here often to rid of them. This trip I happened to be in Ankeny for a soccer tournament and decided to stop in. I rate CFA on many things, with a top two being speed of service and consistency of taste. Consistency is always top tier from my experience, and speed of service can vary. At this specific time the speed wasn't the best I've encountered, which was probably because someone's order slowed the process down. The grilled chicken club was ok, but I don't think I'll be ordering that again. I much prefer their fried sandwiches. The strawberry milkshake was great though! I'm always a fan of their ice cream treats. Overall, still a good choice to eat at CFA! read more

A regular lunch spot for me as well as many people who live and work in Ankeny. By now all of you should be familiar with their delicious chicken meals, but if you're somehow not familiar with Chic-Filet then I highly recommend you stop in. Their spicy chicken sandwich, chicken nuggets or grilled chicken bites are my favorite. You can order almost any sauce that you'd like, but I strongly recommend ChicFilet sauce. Their waffle fries are great as are the shakes and lemonade. Many people dont realize that ChicFilet has gluten free buns and many gluten free options on the menu. This can be hard to find for fast meals, but you can find plenty of options here. This particular location is easy on and off from 35 and has a playground inside. It's always clean and the owners are a really nice family who all seem to work there. Not open on sunday, but 6 days a week it is a great fast food place. read more

Placed an online order for this location while staying in Ankeny for a friend's wedding. The line was long in the drive through, but like I've experienced at other Chick-fil-As, they got the people through quickly. The service was polite and friendly, as always. The food was pretty good, as well. The nuggets and spicy chicken sandwich were cooked well. It seemed like the cookie I had was a little overdone but still warm enough that it still tasted pretty good. All in all, I was impressed with this location. Well we did a mobile order at Chick-Fil-A tonight to pick up thru drive through. I think having employees out there taking orders is a good way to speed up the process but I do not understand their system of a person outside the drive thru handing you your order. I pay attention to things around me pretty well. I watched the your man taking the food and drinks from the window to the vehicle beside the drive thru window. All in the order the orders were given. So I figured when I got up to the drive thru my order would be next. Well I guess that is not true. I watched the people inside filling drinks and orders to the six cars behind me first. Well since I had a mobile order my order should be ready right? I had a ten minute drive one way and left shortly after the order was paid for. I watched the young man go and visit with his friends after delivering to the sixth car behind me. At this time they picked up my order which had been sitting there while they passed out to the people behind me not to mention my drinks that one was a shake melting as I had to wait for a couple more minutes waiting for the young man to come back from his socialization just so he could hand me my food sitting there getting cold at the drive through When I got home I was correct. My fries were more cold than warm and the nuggets I ordered were cold also. So much for quick hot food for me today. Oh, Chick-fil-A. While you may be closed on Sundays, you have the fast in fast food down pat. All of the times I've gone there, there's always a really long line. However, due to their staff being out and getting people through, the line goes pretty quickly. I've gotten the spicy chicken sandwich, which is pretty basic, bun, chicken filet with spicy breading, pickle but it's delicious. Add some Chick-fil-a sauce and it's even better. The waffle fries are usually pretty good and hot. I've also gotten the chick-fil-a nuggets and those are always a good alternative to the sandwich. Breaded real chicken in bite size pieces? This is the best run Chick-fil-A in the Des Moines area. When they have free sandwich days for example, even with a long line of 20 customers ahead of me, I know I can get through the line and get my food in about 20 minutes. That's really good considering I've been to other restaurants that offer free item days and it takes 30 to 60 minutes before I get my order. They also have a lot of fun events for the family. They've had a stuffed animal sleep over that included a few kids meal for the kids. They had a really fun bingo night where you could win Chick-fil-A branded items. The kids had a blast playing. In terms of speed of service and cleanliness, this store has both. Man times I will get my food, hot and fresh before I've even found my table. This is the first brick and mortar establishment of Chik-Fil-A I have ever been to, before it's always a small place at the mall, campus, or airport. This place just opened and it is busy and super popular! The drive thru takes a while every time I go through because there are so many people during lunch hours. First experience at a Chick-fil-a and it is a great one!! Service is great! Super friendly!! Also super fast. No sooner had we ordered and gotten our drinks that our name was called and we were handed out meal! Wow efficient service!!! Dining area was nice and very clean! And Very busy!! I like the grilled chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A, but what I don't like is how chintzy the store has become. I have been noting they are removing more and more condiments at many of the Chick-fil-A locations, if not all. Gone are the dinner mints and ketchup at this location. Sure you can get some ketchup if you get back in line while you leave your food unattended at the table after they bring your order out to you, or you can grab your tray and head to the counter and hope nobody swoops up your seat. As far as the dinner mints many have grown accustom to, I have no idea if they are available at the counter. My wife ordered a large salad and if a person hasn't had a meal in a month, it might seem like a large salad to them. Believe me, the container the large salad comes in is only about 4 or 5 inches square by a little over an inch deep. I would hate to see the size of their small salad, as an amoeba would likely be about as big. I heard the owners of Chick-fil-A are Christians, but what I didn't realize is that they must be Dutch too. Don' be cheap-cheap chicky, give the customers what they expect for their money and offer larger portions that are truly large in size, not just in name. read more

I've been to this location quite a few times, only because it is very nearby to me. It has friendly employees, but this might be the slowest Chick-fil-A location in the whole chain. Massive lines that take forever to move through compared to other Chick-fil-A restaurants, never anyone out in the drive thru taking orders, etc. Can't even pull into the parking lot to do a carryout order sometimes because the line stretches out pass the entrance. The last two times we've stopped by for dinner (in the last couple of months) we have been extremely disappointed. The employees are made up of a bunch of young kids who seem to be more worried about socializing with each other than customer service and cleanliness. I hate leaving crappy reviews, but this is just honesty! There was not one clean table in the entire place, our orders were incorrect BOTH times, and our fries were cold. I ordered a lemonade and it was absolutely terrible, it actually burned going down. The young kid apologized and explained they've been having problems with their lemonade lately. Came through here a second time since I was in the area. They got my order correct this time, which means I'll bump this up to a three, but they are still very stingy with their fries. There's no use in ordering a large when you're getting the same amount of fries as you'd get with a medium. They also still appear to be having issue with the double drive through, I pulled up and was asked to place my order, only to immediately be "put on hold". This is the nearest Chicfila to Ames, so all the Iowa state chicken lovers swarm here. My friends and I used to make a run here almost weekly. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but the classic chicken sandwich is a staple, as well as the chicken nuggets. Meat is flavorful, well breaded, and well seasoned. It's always consistent, and we've never had any bad entrees. I've actually been getting the grilled options of recent, and I also believe they are just as wonderful. Of course they're healthier, but they still have great flavor, are seasoned well, and they are tender. Chicfila always prides itself on good service and this restaurant is no exception.
