Was nice to see that even at this time the entire garden was well-kept (tidy walkways, absence of weeds in the rose beds, etc.). Free to visit. Plentiful parking. Hundreds of legislators and staffers pour in for 4 hours to experience the sights and comfort of the beauty industry environment that Do an Event creates for us each year. Each year Kevin brings a unique twist and look to the tent on the steps...always intimate, fun, and fashion forward. The name of our event is "Welcome to Our World" better known in the beauty industry as the 'WOW' event. Aside from the wonderful stylists, estheticians and nail technicians that serve our guests, the staff of Do an Event is an integral part of why WOW becomes even more WOW every year. The AC was also very loud and woke me up a few times throughout the night. The bed was just okay--not as comfortable as I was expecting. Overall, it's a vibrant spot, but I'd personally choose somewhere quieter next time.

I visited the Verge Center for the Arts on Sacramento's free museum day. I had always thought the…read moreVerge center offered different types of art and ceramics classes for the community but they also have a few nicely displayed exhibit rooms with 2 and 3 dimensional art on display from several local California artists. My favorite exhibit was that of a large tapestry scroll mounted on the wall depicting the artists happiness sorrow and angst. I love art that makes me think and wonder what the [bleeeep] the artist was thinking when he created it. I stared and pondered then I stared and pondered some more. I took a picture of the giant scroll (attached to this review). And I meandered on through Verge museum in my mind space. The learning classroom was an outstanding walk thru as every wall is adorned with exemplars of student work. There is a small museum store in the front lobby area which offers unique glass Jewelery, 3 dimensional ceramic pieces, fabric totes, artist pencils, acid free sketch books, and several lovely coffee table books. I will return to Verge center as they offer art classes to the community and they have a couple kilns where you can buy kiln time... ‍

There are a few parking lots within a short walk, a street parking in the neighborhood. Pre-show we lined up for entry. There is a bar on the 2nd floor. The show room is beautiful with the 1st floor that can have seating, or a stand up audience. The 2nd floor has 3 tiered seating. There is not a bad seat in the house for watching the show. The sound system is very good. My wife and I look forward to returning for future shows.

They had usually kept the sound levels here reasonable, but one show I attended was louder than usual. Afterwards, I have had ringing in my ears for the past TWELVE WEEKS. While I didn't think much of it during the show, I obviously would not have gone had I known it was going to cause this much damage. The venue should have posted a warning about the sound being above safe levels, and clearly advised patrons to use hearing protection and made that easily available. I learned too late that a sound level meter would have clearly shown that the sound levels were loud enough to cause permanent hearing damage. I'm normally the last person to complain about sound being too loud, but it's simply inexcusable that any show in a public venue would cause hearing damage! I have sent printed letters about this to the venue, its parent company and the management of the band. I have not received any response at all, not even an apology. I live very close to this venue and had attended many shows, but I no longer can after this. I greatly value my hearing and am now spending much time and money in efforts to minimize the damage this one show caused me. I was very happy to have this place open so close to me, but now I can't wait to move.
