We attended a birthday celebration at the Dante Club and were pleasantly surprised by how nice the venue is. The space is open, clean, and inviting, with plenty of room for guests to mingle without feeling crowded. The layout works really well for events -- there's a large main area that can accommodate bigger groups and still feels comfortable. The menu had great options, and we enjoyed everything we tried. The bar is large and well-stocked, which made it easy for everyone to grab drinks without long waits. There's a relaxed (and class), welcoming vibe overall, which really added to the experience. As mentioned I was not the host of the event but, after attending this event, I'd definitely consider hosting something here myself. read more

Who wants an all inclusive wedding? Got married there in October '25, wanting a place that did everything you need for a wedding, a one stop shop. Dante's club, Jennifer and Ashley, had been a wonderful to work with. From planning the food buffet, appetizers, from selecting the rooms, from starting the ceremony to having it outside by the gazebo. Everything was in communication and planned accordingly. From the start until the day of the wedding, Jennifer and Ashley were amazing. The venue was very reasonable and within our budget. There were a little confusion during the wedding ceremony at the beginning how everything starts and ends for the flower girls where to stand but it wasn't a big deal. I was so blessed and lucky to stumble across the Dante Club as a wedding venue. We had toured a few venues that seemed so standard and boring, like they just had to swap the name and table clothes and could move on to the next couple. The Dante Club allowed us the freedom and availability to customize our wedding to our liking, while also giving us the direction of an on-site coordinator who knew the ins and outs of wedding planning to make sure our vision came to life. In no order, here are the things that made the Dante Club the perfect place: 1. Jennifer. I don't know if she's the manager or what, but any time I had a question, she handled it. A week before the wedding, my brain was fried from planning, but she always knew how to handle what I threw her way. She is very professional and precise, but also understanding and patient. I kept trying to have a memorable bridezilla freak out, but everything was always taken care of before I could get my blood pressure high enough. And she took the time to get to know us. My husband's favorite menu item was a salmon crustini that would be passed during our cocktail hour. He was disappointed that this would be during our hour with the photographer. Jennifer surprised him during dinner with a whole plate of them just for him!!! 2. The food. Admittedly, I was concerned about ordering meat dishes because I worried that trying to get a consistent cook on that much meat wouldn't be possible. But everything was delicious. I had two guests that were professional chef's that raved about how outstanding the food was. The tri-tip with red wine demi-glaze was DIVINE. My favorite thing was the mashed potatoes. So. Freaking. Good. 3. The flexibility. There were a lot of services we initially declined, thinking they would not be needed. As we got closer, we started realizing why they were offered. Along our wedding planning journey we had to extend the reservation, we added his and hers drinks to the bar, we needed wall panels put up on the tent for the reception due to the wind, we had a guest that was allergic to garlic (how awful is that!). 4. The staff. I think having a professional staff for a venue is a given, but having a fun and friendly staff was a plus. We know our group could be weird, but they gave everyone a unique and lovely experience. The price was about $5k less than a traditional all-in-one venue, while still providing everything the other venues quoted us. The Dante Club really knows how to fulfill it's obligation as the subtle, yet effective back drop for any social gathering, party or event. This spacious venue spot features 3 banquet rooms of different sizes depending on the crowd expected. A fully stocked bar, lounge, TV's and bartenders, lighted stage with dance floor, multitudes of dining and banquet tables, complete with all the necessary dinnerware & linens. Food service, preparation and experienced staff are all available to complete that special occasion. My first visit here was not only impressive but yielded an enjoyable evening. My old alma mater Hiram Johnson High School alumni students of multiple eras, decided to have a Halloween Bash that required dressing in costumes, eating a Mexican style buffet, listening and dancing to some awesome music from DJ: "Behind the Scenes" and the band: "The Soul Shakers". The acoustics were great, the music was non stop, and all that carrying on was probably the most fun I have had in a long time at my age! And even though I had to get up early the next morning for work, I was strongly tempted to throw my cares to the wind and just continue partying like I would have back in my younger days when you didn't care about the consequences. But then, a sudden burst of practicality appeared in my head, along with the gentle reminder by my boyfriend, and we had to depart the party somewhat early. :( The whole evening is still quite clear in my mind, and utilizing the Dante Club as our venue destination, turned out to be a good choice for our event. The facility was very accommodating, continued clean up, and efficient, stealth-like service was all happening right under our unsuspecting noses while the intention was to make sure everyone was having a great time. And I think they did! I hope that parties like this can help me relive my youth, and become a more frequent tradition, especially before some of us die of old age! read more

During the time of Covid, we lost our father in Law, and my daughters fiancé lost a son, I left a 500 dollar deposit on a space, we were not able to use for a wedding due to these losses, we had Covid 4 times in our entire family of 10. It was very hard a draining, yet a year later no refund was given on the deposit of a space that was never used, than the entitlement of not even believing they should roll over the funds for a new booking is absolutely unbelievable! Please do not use a facility that would absolutely have no heart or care during these trying times. Spend your money where the owners actually care. It's only 500 now I would rather lose that then spend another dollar with them. But 500 could mean a lot to some maybe they can donate it to our homeless situation instead of pocketing it. This event space was exceptional! My husband and I held our wedding reception here and could not have made a better choice. There is plenty of parking. The Venetian room fit all of our friends and family with room for a photo booth. The food was perfect. All of our guests were so please. Annah and her team took very good care of us! Had my wedding at this location in November and while the venue was great, the three-star review is due to issues with the main contact, Annah. We had several meetings organized by Annah before the event for different purposes - what were those purposes? Great question, nobody really knows because Annah would set up the meetings and then on the day we arrived for said meetings she would ask us "why are we meeting today?" You tell us as you are the one who set this up. That was a bit concerning as she is an extensive note taker. However, notes do no good if you can't find them. Luckily she would eventually find her notes of what was going on AFTER the meeting was over, so that was unhelpful. The day of the event went smoothly, no thanks to Annah. We had a cocktail hour between the ceremony and the reception and 65 minutes after the ceremony we asked when the reception room would be ready so guests could move into the room and sit down (there were no seats in the main bar area for the cocktail hour). Pardon me, I got a bit ahead of the story; when we were FINALLY able to locate Annah, we asked when guests could move to the reception room. "Well, I guess they can go in now" is the response we received from her. We had a hell of a time trying to locate her for basic questions, but luckily the wedding party and even my officiant stepped up and helped everything flow smoothly. I let Annah know that I was made privy that a potential wedding crasher may show up and she said she would assist with taking care of it. When it did happen she was again, NO WHERE TO BE FOUND, so I handled it myself. She was MIA for most of the event, even when we needed her there to ask her basic questions about timing. We ended up winging it, because nobody could locate her most of the time - staff included. At the end of the night during clean up, the cleaning staff told us to leave the empty decoration boxes and they would dispose of them in the dumpster for us. Annah jumped in and told us we had to take them home with us as they "couldn't dump boxes in the dumpster that were not theirs." The staff made it seem as though this kind of disposal was a regular thing, but Annah made sure we were not able to do so. I probably should have clarified this point at a meeting before the event, but even if I had done so Annah wouldn't have remembered the meeting anyway since she didn't even remember why she set up meetings with us. The venue was a very nice location and looked great and the serving staff was phenomenal, but I do not know what purpose Annah serves as she was missing most of the time and could not answer basic questions. If you're going to have an event here, plan on figuring it out and hopefully you have experienced vendors and wedding party people who can help you wing it, because if Annah is there she won't be any help. Edit for Company response: I didn't want to get into a "he said/she said" thing and I'm glad you were able to find your employee on the camera, but I'm relaying my experience. I don't know what went on during the morning of the event and as you can see I didn't indicate anything about it. I know there wasn't a picture provided of the crasher, my complaint is ONCE I DISCOVERED THE PERSON WAS THERE I COULD NOT FIND ANNAH ANYWHERE. There were several times this occurred during the night, and I can guarantee you the bride DID NOT tell Annah to keep people out of the reception room after cocktail hour was over because she was with me and we were both wondering why the room was not open yet. Additionally, I did not have an issue with the bar area not having chairs, my point to highlight it was because cocktail hour was over and people wanted to go into the reception room to sit down DUE TO NO CHAIRS BEING IN THE BAR ROOM. Furthermore, I can appreciate the volume of people you meet with daily but that doesn't mean it is acceptable to completely forget setting up a meeting AND the purpose as the reason was not conveyed during the setting of the appointment. This was not a one-time occurrence, it was practically every meeting except two. My officiant informed me on the day of the rehearsal that nobody knew about the rehearsal when she arrived and she had to figure out where to go and wait. Luckily, my officiant was in communication with the bride and I and waited for us. Had we booked an officiant who wasn't so understanding he/she may have just left and then where would we be? Regarding your contract that has all the details about cleaning up - I assure you, it does not. I will go ahead and attach a photo of the contract which does not say anything anywhere about empty boxes not being disposed of on the premise or having to remove them. I appreciate your attempt to defend your stance and employee, but please do not make up information which was not included as you claim it was. Had it been included, I wouldn't have mentioned it in the review because we would have expected it. read more

The Dante Club recently took over the reins of presenting jazz from the Sacramento Jazz Coop. My group, The Vivian Lee Quartet played there in November and I was blown away by how Annah has stepped to the plate to make the big ballroom and intimate place to present music. I wasn't sure how using the large room was going to look and when I got there for sound check, the room was dimmed with black table clothed tables dotted around and the room was transformed. The acoustics were great - Bill Walsh and Aaron Gayden do a fabulous job with sound. Annah is the perfect hostess. This is a spot you must come to to enjoy and experience jazz in a great listening environment. I encourage everyone who is a jazz lover to come out and help them keep this, one of few jazz venues in Sacramento, up and running. The jazz community needs this!! read more

HORRIBLE experience working with Jennifer and Annah. They were not at all event professionals. From our first tasting, there was a baby in a walker strolling about and coming up to us with her wet fingers. Annah felt obligated to show us her singing abilities by lulling the baby to sleep during the tasting. We were all kind enough. But this was not a professional setting for a tasting. We gave them our honest comments about each course and they took it as an insult and became even more difficult to work with. At the wedding a good number of past board members of the Dante Club were present. Jennifer never congratulated the couple, but instead went into the reception and schmoozed with the board members. I took every opportunity to let each board member know of our experience. And apparently, I was not the first to tell them how horrible Jennifer and Annah were/are. They profusely apologized. On the 2nd Sunday of every month, the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society hosts a noon until 5PM live music event at the Dante Club. Three rooms with live bands playing. Two of the rooms have some room set aside for dancers to "=kick up their heels" and move as the music takes them. There's a full bar, and hot lunch fare available. It's usually something like rigatoni w/meat sauce, French Dip sandwiches, or something similar. It's a great find for those who love traditional jazz! If you arrive late, the parking lot is likely to be full. That's okay, just park in the strip mall next door (behind the McDonald's) and walk over. read more

I attended a sports banquet at the Dante club forty five years ago. Darrel Lamonica, the starting quarterback for the Oakland Raiders at the time, was the main guest speaker. Two of the original four horseman from Notre Dame were also speakers at the banquet. We're talking guys that played football ninety years ago. To say I was in awe would be an understatement. Anyway, I recently went to a Halloween party at the Dante club and it was Déjà vu. Sam's Liquor and Guns is no longer out front and has long since been replaced by a shopping center and Bakers Nursery is no longer across the street but everything else about the Dante Club is just the way I remembered it. The building has that low profile really cool retro look about it that kind of resembles a Moose Lodge reject. The place consists of an entrance hall, a bar and lounge area, and a large nondescript hall with a stage at one end. It might not seem like much until you really think about what this place has to offer. This is a fairly large hidden gem of a party hall at your disposal that rents out for a modest price. The drinks seemed a little on the expensive side but seemed to have a fair amount of kick to them. The buffet disappeared a little quick and glasses were picked up a little prematurely. Service seemed pretty good overall and the servers were friendly but something still seemed a little uptight about the place. A couple of plates of food, a few drinks, a good dance band playing on the stage and this place can grow on you before you know what happened. The Dante Club is truly legendary. read more

This is the kind of place where I'd imagine spending most of my time after retirement. The interior is large, dated and stripped down, but it serves its purpose as a hall for hosting large events and fundraisers. I visited on the occasion of the annual Kiwanis Crab Feed. It was a last minute decision based on our extended family's love of crab. My group filed in alongside mostly older couples and families. While we were there to avoid the boredom of spending a Saturday evening at home, others brought their own dipping sauces, miniature forks and wines in anticipation of doing some serious grubbing. For many, this is not a casual affair. Despite paying for tickets ahead of time, we did not have seats reserved, but seats were found eventually. The food was a little cold and nothing special. The food service was slow. I give a lot of flexibility to the service considering this was a volunteer-staffed charity event. Our meal was followed by a big silent auction with a lot of great merchandise given away. We weren't happy when the MC of the event won the cherished XBox 360 prize we were all hoping for. read more

I went to an event here last night. Everything was perfection! The food was fresh, flavorful, and plentiful. It was served buffet style for us, so we could same everything! The wait staff was phenomenal! Glasses were always full, coffee was topped off, and plates were cleared without having to ask once! There were over a hundred people attending, and there was the perfect amount of wait staff to accommodate us! The bar had everything people liked to drink and the bartenders worked hard making the crowd happy!! The place smelled like an old hospital, the chicken tasted too salty and "chemical-like", and I'd put money on the fact that they water the liquor down in their drinks. I had 3 double gin and tonic and it felt like just tonic water the entire time. On a good note, the ravioli they also served was good. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Went there for the monthly dinner, steak night. There were a few middle aged folks there with kids, but most of the crowd is older. One of those dinner places where you walk in see the crowd and say to your partner.....well okay...how about we get drinks and when does dinner start, why are we here again? To begin with during The wedding planning they were very quick to respond to any of our questions that we have had. They always came up with solutions and tried their best to help us in planning our wedding. They did an amazing job at setting up everything the day of the wedding and they went above and beyond their job duties to make sure that our day was a success. I couldn't have been more happier with the venue. My dream was to have a outside wedding, and they made that possible. During the time and the weather conditions when our wedding happened, it was smoky outside and extremely hot. So they made sure to suggest us that we rent a tent and fans to make sure our guests were comfortable. We loved their idea and asked if they would find everything for us.
