I recently moved back to Westchester I found them through Natural Awakenings mag bc I was looking for a salon that uses organic color. From the moment you walk into Leticia's gorgeous salon you feel at home. It's beautiful wood finish and pristine artistic design that is well lit with natural sunlight feels as if you are stepping into a magical tree house. The staff is warm and friendly and they immediately made me feel comfortable the moment I got there. Daniella and Amy are excellent and I always feel welcome when I am greeted at the door to the careful way they care for my hair. When living in Manhattan I would get frequent blowouts from my stylist and was accustomed to a certain style. Not only did Leticia do a fantastic job, it was the best blowout I ever received!! She also gave me an excellent cut a few weeks later to clean up my layers. I then met Lastenia, the senior expert colorist at Aura Salon. I rarely write reviews but I have to tell the world about the horrible experience I had at Aura Salon. If I could give a 0-star review, that would be the most appropriate rating. I started using the Aveda color 12 years ago and I picked this salon because they claimed they used these products. I went to this salon a few times (last time approximately one year ago), for roots, touch up, and blowout. The first time, Leticia said that my hair was easy for her. The roots didn't match very much with the rest but I didn't say anything because I thought that it was the first time. My few appointments at the salon were usually in the morning, and it was never possible for me to schedule them earlier than 10.30 am, and Leticia was always late for her first appointment of the day. Differently from other salons where a blowout lasted for a few days, Leticia's blowout lasted usually approximately one hour. In August, I travelled to my home state where my old hairstylist noticed that my hair was not reddish as before, and very dark. He had to lighten it in order to apply the Aveda color and did a great haircut too. Finally I was able to have my hair in a nice light reddish color that was uniform throughout. When I came back, Leticia said she really liked what he had done. She did the root touch-up but again she couldn't match the roots with the rest of the hair. The blowout was assigned to Adrianna. My roots didn't match the rest, and asked to show them to Leticia and this woman had an attitude, she was in a hurry because she had accepted a walk-in at the same time, she really didn't want blowout my hair and was rude. Worst shampoo ever! One time, the person in charge of the shampoo at the salon didn't wash completely my head, some parts she never went through, she left color residues on my scalp and I was itchy until I had to repeat the shampoo by myself! When I tried again before the holidays in December, Leticia suggested to use another organic color, not Aveda. Again, she couldn't match my roots with the rest of the hair, and she said the roots came up "translucent". She said that absolutely I didn't have any grey hair. When I went home, I discovered I had bunches of grey hair everywhere. My head was a disaster - I had the nice light-reddish color that my old hairstylist did in August at the bottom of my hair, on top of this the color she couldn't match in October and then on top of this the "translucent" color with a bunch of grey in the middle! I was furious, I paid a lot of money, and she ensured me I did not have grey hair! I called the salon and I emailed several times asking to talk with her. She didn't return my calls or e-mails until a week later! She said she was busy (we all are!) and she was not surprised I had grey hair since we changed color brand! She mentioned I could come back to cover the grey left. I didn't go back to fix my hair before the holidays or after, and I hoped she appreciated it. Not only she didn't appreciate that, but at my next regular appointment she was annoyed to see me and started grumbling and rolling her eyes. This time, after the shampoo Leticia left me with wet hair waiting for almost 30 minutes because she had to take care of another client upstairs. It was snowing and the heat was not on, I was freezing and shaking from the cold! When she was blow drying and pulling up my hair, I noticed what looked like a grey hair. I pointed it to her and she replied yes, you can have grey hair anywhere as this was not her business, you can check by yourself! She said she couldn't be sorry, she used more than the regular amount of color (which is not true since I saw she put a bit of color in a small-sized bowl, usually hairstylists use much more than that for roots!), and she admitted she knew she had left gray hair the previous time! Is this professional behavior? You see grey hair after you apply color and you don't fix it, hoping your client won't see them? She said she was not the right hairstylist for me, that I didn't focus on the big picture but rather on a few grey hairs! Are you serious? What should I be focusing on? My hair is now a patchwork of colors because of YOUR mistakes one after another, not even being able to match your own previous work! The reason I am left with gray hair all the time is because you are cheap and don't use enough color, and you cannot apply it properly! An experienced, professional hairstylist is able to fix their own mistakes and I was expecting they would be able to do so. Professional hairstylists train regularly but that is clearly not the case here. They are not trained to apply basic color and not even a shampoo! In conclusion, Leticia was NEVER able to fix my roots and to deliver a proper service! Not only this is not an Aveda salon, it is not a salon for basic things, like being able to do a simple root touch-up in a clean environment, and with a positive attitude. Stay away! read more

I especially love them for their knowledge of color as I started to go gray. Their expertise is superior and no more gray! My 3 daughters have also grown up going to Aura as well. I recently had a horrible experience at a local hair salon, where I trusted someone to dye my hair for cheap. They had no idea what they were doing and completely ruined it! I went to Aura in Chappaqua and Amy completely redid my hair and made me feel beautiful again. She gave me exactly what I asked for from the beginning and was over all a very sweet, genuine, fun person! I am so disappointed with my experience with this salon. I am home on a visit for a week to help with my family as my Mom is going through radiation and my brother is disabled from a car crash. We had a party to attend Saturday night. I made my appointment for Thursday morning to color my hair (cover my grey and touch up the color on my extensions) wax my eyebrows and have a pedicure. The male stylist I saw was very rough with my hair, pulling hard above my extensions with a comb, tugging on them as he separated them for their color, etc. I told him he was going to pull them out. He said that some very already loose and then pulled one out to demonstrate. I have my extensions re-attached every four weeks at home. He then pulled a second one out. I asked him to please be very gentle as I wanted them to stay in place for the part on Saturday. Onto the coloring of my hair. He would only put the color on my scalp and edges of my hairline. I showed him I have a lot of grey that grows under my hair and would he please pull the color through. He said he would at the end and that would be sufficient. I told him I would rather he pull it through now and make sure my grey was covered. He would not. Then he waxed my eyebrows. I have my brows waxed at least once a month a home. This seemed more painful than usual and he held an ice cube to my left brow after he was done, which was strange. After my pedicure, which was lovely, he went to rinse the color out of my hair and I reminded him he still hadn't put any color underneath. He said he was waiting until the end and put something on which at the end, he made me pay extra for, so it was not the color he had mixed in the beginning and put on my scalp and edges of my hairline. I was peeved, as he had not discussed an extra expense with me, but I paid and left. That afternoon, my extensions began falling out. I lost four more by the next morning. As I ran errands for my mother, I called the salon to complain about the stylist ruining $150 worth of hair extensions, as I had repeated told him while he was coloring, combing and blowdrying my hair that he was being too rough. The owner was very kind and offered that another stylist would reattach them. I told her I would have a window Friday, as I had to take my mother to her radiation soon and tend to my brother, and that my schedule was stressful. Then, I went home and had a shower. My left eye began to sting. I looked closely at my brow and I had a huge cut in my eyelid where he had waxed me. I called the salon back, now really upset. I emailed and texted them a picture of the injury, and as I was driving my mom to radiation, the owner called back and said I needed to come in and have her see the injury in person. I told her I was taking my mom to radiation. She said, "I'm going to have to see you in person." So, after radiation, back to the salon we went. The owner looked at my puffy, red eye and said it would be fine by Saturday and to put aloe on it and obviously I wasn't used to having my brows waxed. I explained that I had my brows waxed 1 to 2 times each month, this was because of the roughness of the stylist, as with him pulling out my extensions. We decided that I would come back the NEXT morning and have the extensions reattached. The new stylist asked how they were originally put in and I said with little metal clamps, but the second time with glue. She said she could do it with clamps. I came back AGAIN, the next morning, and was told they were busy. I was asked to come back at 3:30pm. I came back at 3:30, and was told that by the new stylist that she had planned not to reattach them put just to pin them in with bobby pins. She said she thought I was bringing the hardware with my to reattach them. I have no idea why she would think that. Now. I had gone over my schedule with the owner several times. I had told her I could squeeze in the appointment at 3:30, but then I had to rush back home to shower and get ready for our party. I was so frustrated with this salon by this point I wanted to cry. My extensions were ripped out, my hair was still gray because the stylist had refused to pull the color through, and my eyelid stung. In addition, they had been having me keep coming back into the salon for two days while I was trying to ferry my mother back and forth to radiation and help care for my brother. Enough was enough. I told the stylist that I was going to go as she could not help me any further. The salon did give me back $20 for the damage to my eyelid during the waxing. They did not offer to reimburse me anything for the bad color job or the ruined extensions. I was told another stylist would reattach them, but even though I came back to the salon twice, that did not happen. When I showed them the gray under my hair at first they said, "I can't see it" but then acknowledged that it was there and offered for me to return yet ANOTHER time to fix it. She made the appointment for me but never told me that there would be a balance. When the job was done (very nice but nothing spectacular...) I gave the woman at the register the voucher. Disclaimer: I SELDOM get a manicure or pedicure, so I do not have a lot of experience. I came here because I had a groupon for a Spa Manicure and Spa Pedicure. I bought one for my mom also, and we went together. They only had one person that does nails, so I had to wait for both of my moms services to be done (90 minutes) before I could go next. Then, the manicurist actually only did my services for an hour, even though I paid for the 90 minute deal. She was paying a lot of attention to my mom and really helped transform her toes and nails, because my mom never gets any sort of spa treatments, so she had her work cut out for her. Maybe she was tired after my mom's services, but I still think I should have gotten just as good service as my mom did. I also don't thinks he spoke much english, and that's why she wouldn't really talk to us at all, which made it kind of awkward at times. The receptionist, Miranda, was so sweet! She helped me pick out a nail color (which I am incredibly bad at doing) and even kept me company as I was waiting for my mom, obviously as long as there were no other guests that needed help. She got us coffee and tea and did everything with a smile, and she really made our experience there wonderful! Overall, I definitely wouldn't go back without another groupon, because at $90, I just didn't feel like it was worth it. But that's a personal preference I guess! read more

Very disappointed with my first visit here. Just moved from the City and was hoping this would be my new salon. I was going for highlights as mine were a couple months old. The front desk girl, Katie, was so excellent and even Leant me her personal phone charger when my phone died! The salon itself is very pretty and clean. My issue was with the service I received. I have light brown hair with golden highlights and was expecting my hair technician to match them but what she gave me was bright platinum! I don't she pulled my towel off I almost started crying- I was so in shock! In her defense, she offered to redo them on her day off. The problem is I stay home with my two babies and had no time to redo them. (As it was I was there 3 hours!!!) needless to say I'm not only disappointed with wasting money to feel foolish with this color hair but also am cranky that I wasted my precious time and am left so dissatisfied. read more

The salon has such a nice and welcoming atmosphere. I love the charm of the old house it's in. This past week I visited the Style Bar before a wedding and my daughter had the most amazing up-do (messy bun) done by Amy. She was very patient with my 8-year old daughter and her hair got lots of compliments throughout the night. Rosalba did a GK smoothing process for me. It looked great. After I washed my hair there was a terrible odor coming from my hair. I called the salon. They said this only happened to one other client. They told me to come in for a conditioning treatment which would deal with the odor. Well, it didn't. Their attitude was well this is the proces and sometimes it happens and no one knows why. They were happy that I would just go away a nd I was leaving for Florida the next day anyway. The process cost appro $350 . I will NEVER use this salon again.
