Grown man took advantage of my teenage daughter at this salon. We took my 14yo to get partial highlights with Christian. A week prior, we scheduled a consultation where we showed photos of the color she wanted and were quoted a price of $185. When my daughter went to pay for her color, she was charged $360. She came out to the car in tears because she knew it was double the amount. I went in and spoke to the salon manager, Kelly, who was so nice and the only reason I'm giving two stars. She said we were charged for a balayage but confirmed that our appt was for partial highlights. So she called Christian over, who said he gave my daughter a balayage because that's what the picture she wanted was -- the SAME picture he'd quoted us $185 for a week prior. When Christian walked away, Kelly agreed that that wasn't ok, so she called Joe the owner on the phone. He offered a free haircut to make up for the nearly double cost. I wasn't happy with this but had to run to a meeting so I said I would consider the offer and call back the next day. When I called back, Joe was in the salon but Kelly said he couldn't speak. I asked if they'd consider a gift card instead of the haircut, so my daughter could use the money toward a future color appt instead. She put me on hold and came back and said that Joe said no to the gift card. Then she said, "listen -- if it were up to me, I would've just refunded you the money already. This isn't right. But I can't. Joe likes to make all the decisions." So I said why don't I come down to the salon when it's around closing time so I can talk to Joe in person. I get it, he's probably busy. She put me on hold and when she came back she said "I'm so sorry but Joe said he won't talk to you. Don't bother coming down." I'm still shocked that this happened but I guess I shouldn't be, considering the owner himself is dishonest, so why would a colorist working for him think he can get away with the same dishonest behavior, too? Not to mention, her color was SO BAD that we had to get it fixed at another salon because it looked like a first year cosmetology student had painted on her highlights while drunk. So turned off by the way this salon took advantage of my daughter, misquoted and double charged us, and then treated me like I was in the wrong when I tried to work with him to make it right. I would never go anywhere else! Joe is amazing the whole staff is. I'm so happy I found them. as soon as I walk in I'm greeted with a smile they never rush me out always making sure I look amazing. They even do makeup Maria is amazing her attention to detail the way she can contour the face she really listens to what you want. People always ask me where I go because my color last so long. At the hair trial Lauren was patient with me as we continued to play with different style buns until it was just right. At makeup, Veronica found the perfect mix of natural/glam. As expected, the both deliver on wedding day - showing up on time, prepared with their own table, towels, extension cords and everything else they needed. They are both lovely woman and I was happy have them as part of the most special day of my life. Since the second i walked into the door the customer service was unbelievable, so so helpful and caring !! I was given attention and was being helped the whole way through from the start of my appointment. The staff is so sweet and funny love the girls who work here ! Stephanie was my hair salonist and she absolutely 150% did an amazing job to my color correction, i have curly hair (from the dominican republic) so it is difficult for someone to blow dry my hair right after a wash the way i like it and how she did it, i mean she just knocked it out of the park - i couldnt be happier :) your amazing Stephanie! I got a bit hungry and i was able to eat my lunch i brought with no problem from the staff or customers about the smell of it or not being able to eat it which was life saving ;)) i was then told to go to the wash station and the girl who helped me out was so gentle but yet got the job done to wash out my color, the best part was that they have the most comfortable chairs to sit on with a pull out cushion to place your feet :) likee amazing ! I first went here in desperate need of the brassiness in my hair to be gone. I spoke with the receptionist, who was more than helpful, and she booked my appointment (for the same day) with Adrianna. Adrianna, is absolutely phenomenal. She is completely down to earth and she knows what she's talking about. I told her what I wanted and, like any good hair stylist should, she told me it was a tad unrealistic and that we can meet in the middle. Needless to say, I fell in love with the end result. After that my mom booked her appointment on the spot and not shortly after, my grandmother started to go to her. I then went back to go red, and I left the shade of red in her hands, and was once again blown away. Just today I went to her because I wanted to go back to natural and she did a great job! Danielle has been coloring my hair for over 10 years now and I will follow her to any salon she works at even though I've moved and it's an inconvenience to travel there. I wouldn't have anyone else! I have been getting blonde highlights with pink peekaboo color and she always makes sure I'm satisfied. Over the years she has adjusted the color and changed things up based on my liking and condition of my hair (which can change after pregnancies). I completely trust her expertise and knowledge. I have been a blonde for years now and working with her made it very easy for me to explain what I want. Let me just start off by saying this is the best salon EVER. I discovered this salon about 2ish years ago and has forever changed my life. The entire staff is incredible and so welcoming. It's always very scary trying new salons and trusting people with your hair, but one day I walked into Josef Mikel and I just knew I was in the right place. This is a nice salon. I went here once and my hairdresser's name started with an "M"? I wouldn't go back because she did not listen to me and I wasted $90 or $100 for a haircut. I told her I don't like the thinning/razor scissors because it thins the hair out and I wore my hair to the front mostly and not over to the side and liked heavier bangs. She then cut my hair and used the thinning scissors (and I mentioned it during the cut I didn't want them) and she said to trust her. Then when she was done she said to me this cut looks best when worn to the side. Go figure? Exactly what I didn't want so would never go back. read more

I wish I had the same experience as all the 5-stars on here, but mine wasn't nearly as good as I'd hoped. I was switching hairdressers after relocating and actually decided to come here based on all the amazing reviews. I called and spoke to someone on the phone to make sure I could actually have done what I wanted - color, highlights, and trim. I asked specific questions and probably had the woman on the phone for 15 minutes. And once I got to the salon everyone, particularly the receptionist, was very friendly. The biggest issue I felt was the hairdresser didn't listen to me. I'm spoiled in that I went to my previous one for 10 years, so she knew what I liked, but I tried to vocalize as best I could during my session. I asked enough questions ahead of time that I feel she'd know I wasn't just going to wing this. I paid a discounted $300 for these services (literally discounted because I'd found them on Yelp), which is amazing because it seems that the color, highlights, cut and blow dry were each charged a la cart, and we're in Pleasantville and not Beverly Hills or NYC. I should've walked out ready for my close-up. Instead, after assuming I'd not been clear about what I wanted but unhappy with the results, I called the next day and asked if the colorist could fix the color - I got party color and it came too close to my face around the sideburns, and I looked like bozo the clown. (This was not my first time with party color, I've had it for years and was just getting it touched up.) They were able to accommodate me and I came back in and asked if those sections of my hair could be dyed back to the original color (or at least closer to it than pink). The hairdresser said she would lift it a bit with bleach, and I figured that was part of the process. My hair was washed and those sections were dried, and she asked what I thought. I said "It's a bit lighter." And she said, "Great. So you're all set then?" And I said "When are you going to dye it back to brown?" She eventually did dye it back closer to the original color so at least I didn't look like a clown for an interview, which was the reason I got my hair freshened up, but as she was drying my hair she asked me, "Why didn't you say anything?" and I said "I did." I really couldn't believe it. I had gone home the previous day blaming myself for not being clear about what I'd wanted, but in that moment I realized she just hadn't listened to anything I'd said, and it made me pretty angry. It's also how I ended up with layers when I didn't want them. I'm giving 2 stars because really everyone who worked there, even the hairdresser who didn't listen, was very nice. I just think the prices were outrageous, though I would have been happy to pay it if I walked out happy with my appearance. This same color/cut/dry in L.A. used to cost me $170, so this really wasn't worth the money for me at all. Not to mention the color washed out in 3 weeks. I don't mean faded, I mean was completely gone from my hair, and I don't even wash or shampoo it every day. The color that's still there is from my previous session at my old salon back in September and the blonde is from the bleach before the color, not my natural underneath color. (You can see the difference if you look at my roots which have since grown in.) Good news is that I learned I should bring my own dye to the next salon I try, so I've already ordered a product that I know is good. read more

And the girls there are very sweet. I had gotten my hair done by Joe before when he worked out of another salon, so when he opened up his own place I knew I had to go! This weekend I got to go and got a basic cut but I have very long hair and rarely feel that its been done right. I LOVE it so much and so does the bf!!! I tend to only get my hair cut once or twice a year but I'm so happy with how it came out that I'm going try to go more often. The staff were all so friendly! I have been to this salon twice so far. Josef is an artist, and he definitely is passionate and talented with Hair. The salon is beautiful and I will definitely make this my place! My hair was very damaged and blonde when I first came in. They gave me a glaze to dye it back to my natural color and cream to make it healthier. I came back two weeks later to get another glaze and highlights and I couldn't have been more pleased with the results. I took a chance on Joe after too long of a story to explain. His new salon is gorgeous. Clean, sophisticated look, yet upbeat current vibe. Joe is warm and friendly. went for one process color, the results were not good, chocolate brown with red roots, she offered to fix right then and there I said ok, she tried a toner, didn't work. I explained I had to leave to pick up my kids but I will be back, So I paid for services including the $50 blow out fee and left, I went back two days later, she tried to fix it again (3rd time), she also explained that it's salon policy that I pay $50 for a blowout even though I am coming back to get my hair fixed based on her mistake! She said either I pay or she dries my hair so it's not wet when I leave, I said OK she misunderstood and gave me a half assed blowout. When I went to check out I was surprised when they charged me $50, I explained I only wanted it dried because I felt I should not be charged for another blow out. The owner then came over we explained the situation he said I'm sorry for the miscommunication I just want to make you happy I will not charge you for the blow-dry. I gave everyone that assisted me a 20% gratuity (for the 2nd time) even though my hair was still 2 different colors but not as noticeable but to be honest, I wanted to get out of there...I felt like I was treated pretty poorly. After a week and a half of really being unhappy that my roots are completely different color than my ends and not being able to get out of the house because we were all sick, I stopped back in to speak to the owner, he agreed my hair is two different colors and offered to fix it on Tuesday. When I asked him about the blowout he said I absolutely must pay for it. I said this is my second time coming back to fix my hair third time total and feel that a complementary blow dry would be appreciated for my inconvenience, He said "absolutely not we will fix your hair but you have to pay $50 for a blowout and the reason why is because I would've offered to do it for free on Tuesday but since you asked me before hand, I will have to charge you! You didn't give me a chance to make you happy" When I looked surprised he said it seems to me that your just looking for a complimentary blow out! I told him he just made a huge mistake and I walked out! As I walked out he said, go ahead post all over Facebook....Wow to think I would have my hair processed 4 times in the matter of 2 weeks for a free blow out????? If you want the MOST AMAZING color and style ask for JESSICA!!!! I went into Josef Mikel hearing what a great salon had opened up and I was so amazed at the treatment I got. From beginning to end it was perfect. My hair by Jessica has never looked so amazingly natural and exactly what I had wanted it to look like when I was ready to leave I felt like a new person. Shiny beautiful silky hair with just the right amount of tones to make me feel it was natural. The best part is I have finally found someone who knows how to do color like an artist and I will be going to her for now on. (I even pre book my appts to see Jessica. Haha.)
