Splitting Hairs has evolved into a space (salon & boutique) that now encompasses two, adjoining buildings - it was just one when I started going there. It's nestled in the back of the Brownsboro Plaza next to Shady Lane Cafe and around the corner from Party Mart. So, you can make it a day by having lunch, getting your hair and nails done, and then picking up wine or cocktail ingredients on your way home. It's a full-service salon with numerous stylists, a nail tech, and a small boutique with both hair products and gift items. There's a mix of male and female stylists who each have their own look and unique approach. This isn't a salon molded by a brand philosophy (like Aveda or Paul Mitchell). It also doesn't look like some other salons that have a uniform or unified marketing approach. Splitting Hairs is what a lot of salons looked like before they rebranded as spas or wholeness centers. It's a great place to get a cut, style, color, eyebrow wax, and mani/pedi. If you want to sip Perrier and listen to interesting music while being helped by folks dressed all in black, you need to go elsewhere.

I NEVER spend money on my hair but decided to try it out. I have very fine and very thin hair and it can be hard to find someone who can cut it right. The very nice woman who cut my hair tried, but I didn't end up loving it, in fact I hate it, but she did a great job of giving it volume when I have very little. I actually quite liked the way the back turned out, just not the front. I chopped it all off into a pixie. I'm not mad. It's only hair and I usually end up not loving my hair cuts, which is why I don't tend to cut it often or spend money on it. I was just hoping that if I went somewhere like this I would love the results. Will I be back? Maybe, but it's not because of anything other than I hate spending money on my hair. The salon was very clean, they treat you very well, and they are super nice. If you don't mind spending money on getting your hair cut, I recommend it.

I started with her at one salon before she moved to another salon. Not too long ago she opened her own salon! Welcome to the Jude Jett Salon! I greatly look forward to a wash and cut/trim every month! This salon has just recently started to grow with adding more space and more stylists. Unlike other salons, the chairs are spaced out here. It never feels crowded and you can take comfort in knowing that not everyone is listening to your gossip and stories. Of course I've experienced my haircuts every month for the past nine years, but I've also had the chance to see JJ cut/style other people's hair (women and men). She always does a spectacular job! If my hair was long enough, I could easily follow one of her other clients by saying, "I'll have what she's having!"
