My wife and I came here for Valentine's day. Loved it!

This was my favorite spot around when it first opened, but my recent visit was underwhelming. We were greeted by a women stepping in front of us and asking our names with zero of the charm that the previous staff had. It felt quite jarring and a little rude. They no longer do day passes and I don't recall ever receiving an email (I'm on mailing list) about the change, so it now costs upwards of $200 dollars to get a service and use the facilities. I've lived mostly in major cities and find these prices to be VERY high for services. The hottest pool outside wasn't even opened and that is my favorite tub. It's a beautiful place, but overall quality of service has declined since it opened and I'm sad they didn't decide to just limit day passes per day if overcrowding was the issue. Probably will not be returning. More expensive and less welcoming. I will say the masseuses and facials are very skilled. read more

Well, not too many eats around here, but they still did a good job! Great views, nice and sunny. Great service, nice decor and ambiance. We came here for brunch, and had the Denver omelet with peppers and sausage (pretty good), seafood chowder with cream (really good) and the strawberry crisp (really really good!). We stayed at one of their newly opened properties- The Walcourt hall and came here for breakfast. Served on a first floor terrace overlooking the lake and green lawns it's a beautiful setting. We ordered a crumbly French toast and a garden omelette with brown bread toast. The food was a bit way too buttery for me but was Delish. The staff was also friendly and that view made up for anything that was lacking! read more

Very nice breakfast today! Our party of four had a delightful table by the deck to view beautiful Cayuga Lake! We started with Mimosas that were great with a greater ratio of champagne than OJ! Well done! We all had the Classic Breakfast which is two eggs prepared to your liking, crisp bacon, buttery hash browns, one slice of buttered toast, which was the only disappointment as the bread wasn't anything special. My eggs were poached fabulously and without any residual taste of vinegar, which sometimes happens from time to time. Not here, thank goodness, as they were very enjoyable! Our granddaughter ordered a stack of sour cream pancakes that we had a small taste of. Well let me tell you they were perfectly warm, light, flavorful and tender! They were served with real maple syrup and a berry compote on the side. She enjoyed them as well but since they were a more than ample serving for an almost four year old there was much left for Daddy to partake and happily! ;) Server was terrific, lovely ambience and lovely spot in Aurora! My husband and I had been exploring the area all day and decided to have a nice honeymoon dinner here on our last night in the area. I have to say the food was pretty good. We went here after looking on the website and seeing lamb and fondue offerings, which we were sorely disappointed, were not offered. Worth the price? Probably not. But the real kicker here is the service. It was terrible! Incredibly slow, impersonal, and rushed. We were only one of 3 tables in the dining room, so they were not busy at all. Not to mention, as a young interracial couple, we definitely DID NOT feel welcome. I left this place with a yucky pit in my stomach. I do not recommend, especially on principle. read more

We stayed as a group at the hotel. Everything of the hotel was great. Unfortunately, the hotel restaurant was a disappointment. The female manager at the restaurant was extremely rude, barked at our booking time when it was the front desk that booked the time for us. Came to remind us twice that we need to rush to make an order, the tone was unacceptable, and it just ruined everyone's special time there at this Inn. We don't even remember how the food was - not memorable after that. Service is always the most important for specialty Boutique Hotels. read more

Really enjoyed our meal at the Aurora Inn. We have been across the road to Fargo many times and finally found the time to go to dinner. Casual dress relaxed setting. We sat outside on the deck on a great evening while overlooking the lake. Waitress was very attentive and did an awesome job. We had a 6:30 reservation and left about 8:30. We were never in a rush and time was taken between each course. Menu states farm to table as much as they can from many local places. Menu changes throughout the year so check out the site online for the most recent. Wine and drink selection was excellent. There were a few specials as well to add to the menu. I ate three meals here - lunch, dinner, and breakfast in that order. For lunch, I had a bowl of New England seafood chowder, lobster rolls with sweet potato fries, ravioli stuffed with fruit as dessert, and hot tea. All food was delicious with chowder being my favorite. As I'd been able to get a room at the last minute (thanks to a last-minute cancellation), I also ate dinner here - the seafood chowder again followed by an innovative presentation of Caesar salad. Water to drink. Breakfast was included with the room, and it came in two parts - first, a delivery to my room, in a basket, of fresh coffee and minimuffins. The second part was a visit to the dining room for a full breakfast chosen from a menu, from which I mixed entrees to come up with fresh fruit, eggs and bacon, lemon ricotta pancakes, and coffee. All the food was delicious while the service was mixed. Some of the wait staff were more attentive than others, and the hostess was especially helpful. read more

The 4 stars is for: The atmosphere is top notch, the staff were great, I enjoyed the wine, the charcuterie board, and the hot fudge sundae was to die for! The dinner entrees were not my favorite. The options were limited, especially if you are a picky eater. I got the duck and while it was ok it was not cooked like I've ever had duck before and wasn't super enjoyable, and the sides of vegetables were so minimal. Not worth the $32 in my opinion. I love this place. You will have great dishes, view and vibe. You can enjoy the view outside, looking the beautiful lake. The place is decent and peaceful enough to chat and enjoy food with your companies. The food are great as well. I tried several dishes (appetizer, entre, burger, side and salad) from the lunch menu and several from the dessert menu, and I enjoyed them very much. There are so many positives here, I'll start with the setting ... A truly charming inn lovingly resorted and with an amazing view of Cayuga Lake. I had the open faced cheeseburger, which elevates a cliched lunch menu item to haute cuisine. Welsh rarebit, brioche, and homemade ketchup made it a sublime dining experience. I substituted fries for a fabulous garden salad. We shared three desserts that were each delicious in their own right, but the panna cotta with raspberry sorbet was my favorite. The Aurora Inn provided an amazing meal. A major part of that was due to the stunning weather, outdoor deck seating area, and later a romantic sunset. While Wifey would give it 5 stays, I'll base things mostly on the food, which was good, but not a total knockout. I got the pork special of the evening; which was a large encrusted pork chop over a bed of marinated beans and a corn pancake. All were very tasty. The pork was very fatty, which gave it some amazing flavor, and I loved the corn pancake. Wifey got the Homemade Fettuccini with Arugula and Blue Cheese, which was super tasty. We washed all this down with an assortment of Finger Lake white wines, and then overdid ourselves with the Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake (good, except for the syrupy fruit goo on top) and a slice of Strawberry Rubarb Pie (high marks, loved it!). Our service was pretty solid, but we witnessed a few other guests get screwed over by miscommunications by the staff. The food is definitely pricey: $20-30 for entrees, but ultimately worth it. And if it's a nice day, definitely eat on the back patio. It's delightful. read more

The Aurora Inn's restaurant promises fine dining but under-delivers. It has beautifully laid tables, framed by a view of Lake Cayuga. We ate dinner and breakfast there although we stayed at the EB Morgan (same management group). The luxurious Morgan, together with the rave reviews we had been reading about the dining room, raised our expectations. But our dining experience was mixed and ultimately disappointing. Small cues appeared immediately. We reserved a table by the window but were steered to the back of the restaurant even though it was virtually empty. We spoke up and were taken to a table next to a swinging kitchen door. We asked to be moved. A professional and friendly waitress quickly appeared, lifting our spirits. We ordered wild mushroom soup and fondue to start, and the chef's special - pirogis stuffed with chicken mousseline, goat cheese and local apples - and soft shell crabs for dinner. The meal turned out to be a sequence of near-misses. The cream soup was tart (too much lemon juice), the beer-infused fondue was grainy, the pirogis were bland, and the crabs must have been refrozen once too many times because they were mushy under their crisp exterior. Breakfast the next morning was a little better food-wise, although the flowers on the table were limp and sad leftovers from the previous evening. We ordered oatmeal and French Toast which was brought out quickly by an attentive, cheerful and professional waitress. The presentation of the food, however, was amateurish and we, surprisingly, had to request maple syrup and milk. Bottom line: be careful of what you order from the menu. read more

I did not fully enjoy this place as many of the other reviewers did perhaps because I live in New York City and can pay the same price for delicious and tasty food at some of the best restaurants like Telepan and Dovetail. The food, unlike the Inn, is pricey and the quality is not reflected in this price. I had the braised short ribs dish and my partner had the halibut dish. Both were bland and my dish was overly salty with the salty flavor overpowering my dish. The service was great and the cucumber cocktail was rather refreshing. The only positive things at the meal were the awesome clam chowder (which I highly recommend) and the beautiful view and outdoors setting. Unlike the dinner, the breakfast was awesome and made up for the not so tasty dinner. We both had omelets and thoroughly enjoyed the main dish. The homefries were similar to diner homefries and the toast was a bit fancier. The quality, tastiness, and presentation of the breakfast surpassed the price. I would give this a go, if you are in Aurora and want some fancy views and fancy dining. read more

I came to the Aurora Inn with a few coworkers for drinks after work. Our original intent was to have a drink out on the deck overlooking the lake. Unfortunately, the deck was closed for remodeling. Too bad, because the views of the lake from the Inn looked stunning from what I could see out the window. We sat in the dining room, because there really isn't a bar area. A few of us ended up getting appetizers with our drinks. To my surprise, the wine selection was more than ample. I was afraid that I would only be able to get NY wines, being that we were at a Finger Lake's Inn, but there are more than a couple selections from the rest of the world. To eat I had the seared yellowfin tuna. It came with some sauteed bok choy and mushrooms. I felt that the tuna was a tad too overcooked for my preference, but the dish was otherwise very flavorful and pleasing to look at. The only downside of the dish was that there was a pretty orange garnish sitting atop my tuna that I assumed was the shavings of some orange vegetable. Carrot maybe? Since I like to get the whole experience from my plate, I took a good forkful (about half of the ample garnish) and ate it with my tuna. It was the rind of an orange (or possibly another orange colored citrus fruit). I guess I watch the Food Network's Chopped too much, because I don't want an inedible garnish! The staff was great. Our server was not only attentive and friendly, but she was very helpful and able to make recommendations. This is a great quality in a server. Overall, we had a nice time and the food/drinks were good. I will have to go back when we can sit out on the deck and enjoy the lake views, because the atmosphere is the main reason why I would drive out to Aurora for drinks and dinner. While the dishes themselves are fairly mainstream New American fine dining, there are numerous local touches added to remind you that you are in the Finger Lakes. We went here after going to Mackenzie Childs. We had a 15 minute wait but that was okay - we sat in the lobby by the fire. I had coffee, which they refilled twice and asked if I wanted more a 3rd time (but I was done). I ordered the lobster roll with sweet potato fries and a pickle ($9) it was delicious! The roll was toasted perfectly - the chips were great, I loved the pickle. It was the right amount of food for me. My sister had the cobb salad, she was a little disappointed with it. There was not enough dressing on the side and it was bland. More other things than lettuce. My mom had the grilled cheese which I think she was happy with. We stayed at the E.B. Morgan House for the first couple days of our honeymoon. We had the pleasure of having dinner at the Aurora Inn on our first night and breakfast for the next two days. Dinner was one of he most relaxing and romantic dinners we have ever had. The food was exquisite and the staff was spot on. Every aspect of the evening was life perfection from the menu to the amazing view of Cayuga lake as we ate on the balcony. We will definitely return to this highly recommended spot! Up for my daughters graduation and a great place off the beaten path for dinner. While they have outdoor seating overlooking the water which would have been ice to be seated at, the indoor space was just as cozy. Nice mixed drinks but a whiskey list to go with the wine list would have been good rather than the quick verbal listing. Solid wines by the glass. Bread was warm and really good. Dinner choices all excellent with grilled chicken, fresh sea scallops and pot roast. All organic and local with the exception of the scallops. Desert was a pretty unbelievable scoop of bourbon ice cram and an excellent coconut cake. Service was great and all staff very welcoming and personable. My 11 year old son wanted to sleep not eat so the allowed Jim to curl up on a couch by us until the table next to him was occupied and then he transferred to a couch in the waiting room where someone was thoughtful enough to cover him with a blAnket. Everything was very clean and staff were visible but not obtrusive. Food was excellent and the town very quaint. Lots if cows and farms on the way in. Most definitely worth the visit and this is a great setting for an intimate celebration. read more

A great place for a special meal. We are outside and the view of the sunset over the lake during dinner was stunning. The goat cheese hush puppies were delicious. Excellent, friendly service. I will start by saying that the Aurora Inn itself is a warm, serene place. We have stayed there a number of times, and enjoy the guest rooms immensely. The dining room, however, has disappointed us more than once. Our recent experience was no exception. I ordered a Boston seafood chowder. The shrimp, haddock, and scallops in the chowder were so overcooked that it ruined an otherwise tasty soup. The seafood was rubbery, dry, and mealy. My entree was mushroom tortelloni with black garlic, chestnuts, leeks, and carrots. I could discern absolutely no garlic in the dish whatsoever. The chestnuts were so hard I could not chew them. The pasta itself was overdone. No self-respecting chef should have served that dish. We complained about the entree and received no apology from the waitress or the chef. The waitress actually copped a bit of an attitude after my wife and I complained. They did not offer to take the price of this horrible entree off the bill. My wife ordered a side of cauliflower with apples, pecans, and roasted shallots. There wasn't a single pecan in the dish. Not one. I will not eat at the Aurora Inn dining room again and Chef(?) Patrick Higgins gets 0 stars from my wife and I. read more
