A lovely anniversary escape. We stayed at the Lakeview Cottage, and the room was immaculate. It was quiet and the view was serene and peaceful. The property was well maintained, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Bathrooms are stocked and beautifully decorated, and showcase a very spacious jetted tub and separate rain shower. Not a huge fan of the glass window separating main room and bathroom, however there is a curtain for privacy. Continental breakfast is mediocre, but the views make up for that. Option to purchase the kitchen breakfast is available. We were happy with our stay. read more

I strongly advise against staying at this Inn. Or take part in any event there. It is an extremely unsafe place, and guests should be very careful with their valuables, cash, and personal belongings. If any of your belongings go missing, do not expect them to be returned. Based on my experience, the staff were involved in theft, and despite clear video footage and other evidence, the hotel owner was fully aware of the situation yet refused to compensate for the loss or take appropriate action. Instead, the employees responsible continued working there. Behind its attractive appearance, nothing works properly in this hotel and is far from a safe place to spend your vacation. If you have no choice but to stay here, keep your valuables, cash, and other important belongings with you at all times. read more

We had a wonderful time. But, this is for most people, expensive dining ( our bill for 5 adults was just under $400 before tip). The ambiance is refined and overlooking Cayuga Lake and the state park. Parking is spread out but adequate. We had come up by boat from Ithaca the night before to watch the wonderful free fireworks display they host for the 4th of July. There was a large elegant wedding going on, on the property while we were there with live music. The entrees were presented and plated elegantly and very good. My youngest daughter (35) said it was the best steak she had ever had. The appetizers were fair. The desserts failed on every count. The alcoholic cocktails were uninspired. Our server tried, but, may have been overwhelmed and unable to give us top tier attention. She failed to tell us of the evening specials. This was a big deal as they were operating on an abbreviated menu of only 6 entrees. She neglected to offer us the fresh ground black pepper. She didn't collect staff to come sing happy birthday (she did join in with the family herself). The funniest comment of the evening when we were each deciding what to have from the 6 entrees we were aware of, was when she said one of them was "in their top five most popular." read more

Over the years we must have driven past this place dozens of times and not really noticed it. This past weekend we were here for a wedding. Being October the setting was more stunning than usual with the trees changing colors. The views are sensational. The tent for the reception is quite beautiful with the only downside being that it was quite cold inside. The heaters they had were no match when the temps dropped to near forty degrees in the evening. One of the risks of an outdoor venue in October. The various fire pits and the large outdoor fireplace did help a bit for those who ventured outside the tent. The food was very good especially the main course and the fact they had to serve over 200 people. Both the salmon and the filet mignon were done perfectly medium rare and were tasty. I had a very bad experience here. My flight was canceled and I couldn't go there. I called urgently but no one from the hotel answered the phone. I left a message but no one answered. I contacted them by email to change the date but they said the hotel was closed that day. Do hotels even close? If you are a tourist who comes from far away to visit this place, please do not choose this place. I asked them countless times by email but they kept charging me for one night. Use that money to hire staff to answer the phone. Your money is important as is yours. This place is only for locals who visit when they are open. They are very strict with their customers and seem like a small business that is serious about making money. They do not provide customer service when you have a problem. read more

This setting was absolutely breathtaking for a wedding this past weekend. The Inn is historic and yet Carl (the owner) has added every modern amenity and his creative passion is evident in every fine detail. A 4 minute walk down the hill to Lake Cayuga and even less to the Gorges Trail where you can get up close to some of the falls. We'll be back. read more

I had very fond memories of dining here while my husband did his graduate studies at Cornell. We actually celebrated our first wedding anniversary here. The venue is beautiful, the dining room warm and inviting, the antiques hint at a more elegant time. The staff was charming and our waiter was professional and endearing. The only problem is the food- it was terrible. We ordered the Lobster ravioli, the roast pork , salmon and Yankee pot roast - all but the ravioli arrived cold. The pot roast was literally four bites with maybe one tablespoon of gravy- none on the mashed potatoes. The pork so dry that only one piece was eaten and the rest left. The side dish with the salmon was a real brain teaser- we couldn't seem to figure out what it was, even after all four of. Us took a bite. It was a large mound of something gray- turns out it was quinoa. When we told the waiter our food was cold, he offered us complimentary dessert, which was very nice. The carrot cake was also bad- solid as a rock, no texture of cake and tasteless- we could have been eating just about anything. It was such a disappointment as I had been so looking forward to revisiting this place after so many years. That said, I would give it another try because the place is so beautiful. Absolutely NOT a "luxury" inn If you enjoyLOUD,BLARING Frank Sinatra music in your room every evening, AND before 8AM Sunday morning - this is the place for you! I did NOT enjoy visiting the lobby in my pajamas to ask them to turn the music down. But the phone in the room was broken, and my cell phone calls went unanswered, despite the sullen young woman sitting there chatting with her co-workers. Her annoyance at my interruption was evident.Sunday morning I felt so bad for the poor young bride and her guests subjected to this "din" on what she thought would be "the best day of her life".People don't book a luxury country inn to be subjected to music from the 1960s, and most definitely NOT at 7:45 in the morning! Is this your idea of "luxury"?: Broken house phone in our room, ergo, useless "Pizza Button" Flies & bugs on parlor window screens were right out of a horror movie Tiny bathroom withscratchy, cheap towels Shower curtain from the Walmart Toilet constantly running Drawers (bath & dresser) that are difficult or impossible to open Threadbare rugs Keurig coffee maker ONLY in the hallway was so loud it we hated to use it and wake up the other guests NO info in the room on getting to the falls for which the inn is named, so we missed seeing them, being on the wrong side of the river, and needing to get back to the hotel in time for check out. (So did a few other frustrated hikers we encountered who asked us for directions.) Broken facilities: We booked this inn in part because they advertised free laundry facilities, something we needed midway through our 2-week trip. The front desk clerk said, "It's broken." Did she know when it would be fixed? No. Did she care to find out? Nope. Did she offer an alternative? Ha! A 4-Star service training course is badly needed at this tired, sad establishment. There is no way this inn has a real chef. Breakfast was awful. The muffins appeared to be made from a cheap mix. Disappointed the first morning, I still had hopes for the next day. Nope. Exactly the same bland, rubbery "frittata square", same tasteless muffins.Accompanied by more unfriendly, unprofessional service. I asked a question about hiking. The staff doesn't know how to get to the falls for which the inn is named, and they weren't interesting in finding out for us either. Dinner was overpriced & very mediocre. We ordered the $12 kielbasa potato appetizer concoction, thinking it would be innovative and interesting - instead it was a mushy potato with 2 small bites of kielbasa, some mustard and a dash of cream fraiche. It seemed like something a 10-year-old would assemble and think they were clever. My salmon cakes were dry, overcooked and had little flavor. My husband's beef was just okay. Despite our stay being on the busiest nights of the week (Friday & Saturday), we never got a sense that a manager was on duty, or that there was a "grown-up in charge". Staff duties were performed robotically with few smiles, warmth or anything resembling customer service. Waiters gathering at the front desk with their backs to guests, chatting, was commonplace. The bartender in the TINY (2 table) bar did manage to serve us a drink, but clearly did not have time for conversation. It felt like teenagers were running the place, with no knowledge of hospitality or "luxury" service, doing just the bare minimum of accomplishing tasks to keep their summer jobs. When it was finally time to leave this hell-hole, I could not help but notice that the man checking out ahead of me, in ratty camo pants & a tee shirt, was pleasantly asked "How was everything?". For some reason, I was not afforded that same courtesy - perhaps it was my voice mail messages from two consecutive nights...? The manager just glared at me and said, "You're good". Classy. Someone please alert Relais & Chateau. This once may have been a grand place, but what their website promises will NOT be your experience. I wrote a long letter to the inn manager, in response to his "How was your stay?" email. Did I a reply of any kind? Nope. Am I surprised? Not at all. Please do yourself a favor and book the LUXURIOUS, GORGEOUS Inns of Aurora instead - THEY truly have high standards of customer service! I wish we had stayed there longer and enjoyed their complimentary SUPs, canoes, and kayaks, which, by the way, are astronomically priced at the Inn at Taughannock's park. Chose wisely, travelers. Do you really want to spend $800+ at a place where you are treated as an inconvenience by the staff and management? read more

Simply Amazing. By far the best location and property if you are visiting the finger lakes. I did a ton of research and was nervous I wouldn't pick the right lake to stay on. Trust me this is where you want to be. Whether it's the wine outdoors or eating you can all find it within a couple minutes of Inn at Taughannock!! Rooms are very clean with the most amazing views. My husband and I have been wanting to take a trip to the finger lakes region to check out all of the wine, beer and cheese trails that they offer. After going on Tripadvisor we decided to book our stay with Taughannock Farms Inn. We arrived around 1pm and since our room was ready they young lady at the front desk allowed us to check in early. We asked her from some suggestions of the best local wineries in the area. She was happy to provide us with her favorites and also said she would leave a map at the front desk for us. After taking a nap on the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on (we stayed in the Garden Room) we went downstairs and retrieved the map, she even circled her favorites for us. We ate at the restaurant the first night we stayed there. The service and food were excellent as was the view from our table overlooking Cayuga Lake. The location of the Inn was ideal for us, as we were able to visit many of the wineries located on both the Cayuga and Seneca Lakes. Seneca Lake was only about a 20 minute drive. The Inn itself is located on the grounds Taughannock Falls State Park State and there are different trails to hike including one that will take you up to the waterfall. We were very happy with the service, in fact one night while we were having a cocktail on the deck, the bartender arranged for the chef to prepare a cheese platter for us. Dined here for the second time for Easter Bunch. The meal was outstanding. It was my daughter's 20th birthday and we wanted to make this years celebration extra special, and the Inn was the perfect place for the occasion. The holiday menu offered a wide selection of choices and everyone in my party found something they truly enjoyed. The atmosphere was beautiful. Background music delightful. Lloyd the waiter was impeccable and very attentive AND my Bloody Mary was one of the best I had every ordered, anywhere. This Inn is beautiful! The staff very friendly and welcoming! They went out of their way to greet us and wish us a good day, and ask us if we needed anything. We had everything we needed right in the room. The room itself was beautiful, the mini sweet featured a coffee pot, microwave, and mini fridge. which was perfect for waking up early in the morning to have coffee on the deck with a beautiful view. The evenings were nice and quiet, we could leave the balcony door open to welcome the evening breeze and hear the crickets. It was blissful. The room itself was very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The location of the Inn it's perfect if you were going to be spending any time at the falls, or hiking near the lake. It's very close to Ithaca. Just across the bridge really. I would highly recommend! I was impressed with how they went out of their way to offer the Continental breakfast, they had to adapt to a new plan due to covid-19 so they offered a pre-set breakfast each day which was included in the room stay. It was delicious. They offered an egg menu item, a muffin, juice, coffee, tea, etc. They also gave yogurt with fresh fruit and granola and it was delicious. they would even give you one to go if you didn't want to sit in the restaurant. All the staff practicing covid restrictions and wearing a mask. I was very impressed with this place. The only negative I can really think of is that we washed a load of laundry and placed it in the dryer, after a while we went to check it and it was still all wet. Turns out that both dryers were out of order. It was very difficult because the clothes were already wet. we waited a couple of days and nothing ever got fixed. It was disappointing to know that we were not able to do laundry whenever it was offered that it was complimentary laundry this is the reason I'm only giving four stars. Whenever we called down to the front desk to ask if anything could be done we were told no because the only two dryers on the property were the two that were out of order. This little jewel is a best kept secret. I almost don't want to let the secret out but if you are in this area (or even if you're not .. Go!) visit, stay at or eat at Taughannock Farms Inn. They have a new owner and new management and it's amazing. We (our family) was visiting upstate NewYork to see more of this amazing country we live in. We stayed here for the 4th of July weekend. We happened to arrive on the evening of the great firework show hosted by the Inn and boy was that a stunner! (See photo)!! Our rooms were comfortable and the staff was amazing. Stay in room 81 if it's open because the view from the deck is breathtaking and the jacuzzi/bathtub is just what you need after a great day on the lake or a very convenient beautiful hike to see the waterfalls. The restaurant is delicious and the chef is inspirational. The angel hair pasta with red meat sauce is so flavorful that even if you're avoiding carbs you have to try it! (Maybe you could just order a side of sauce)! The GM Brian Simon is terrific and makes you feel like you're an old friend. And if the man (*hollywood producer) in charge of buying and renovating this gem is around, say hello. His effervescent energy is contagious! read more

My husband and I were recently married at the Inn. We absolutely can't say enough good things about our entire experience. We spent about a year planning this event. Our event coordinator was very accommodating and patient with every detail. We were treated incredibly well by the entire staff. We stayed there for a 5 day "mini-moon' after the wedding, and they gave us a free upgrade to a jacuzzi suite for the week! Just to give you an idea how they went "above and beyond"...we were having some trouble before the wedding putting the wedding canopy together and we needed some white duct tape- and they had some to give us! Every possible thing that we needed, they were ready and willing to help. The dessert at my wedding was created based on my own unique idea, and it was fabulous. I could go on and on. We will definitely be going back each year for our anniversary! read more

Nothing special honestly. Unfortunately, the biggest reason for the two stars was a problem with flies, which seems to have occurred because we opened the window for a few minutes at mid afternoon to enjoy a fresh breeze. Upon return late that night, I hear my BF brushing flies off the bed and swatting them off the walls with towels, dozens of them - found one stuck on my face when i woke up in the morning as well as in the coffee mugs! We must of spent at least 45 mins doing this, when all we wanted was to go to sleep. When we mentioned it upon check out the next morning, we were initially placated by the head of catering, Tiffany, who thanked us for "bringing it to her attention, but had no interest in seeing the photos. We stated that we felt some remedy was in order, and were later offered insufficient compensation for our troubles. After additional communication, management made it right and deducted the second nights fee; but who wants to go through all that on vacation? Additionally, having stayed at other places in the area, the amenities were lacking: i.e, no robes or slippers or mini-fridge. The view from our suite, which was apparently one of the best rooms, overlooked the roof, no view of lake. Also they're adding a deck which may be nice when finished but now makes the view unattractive. Also hair in drawer of bathroom gross! Positives: There is a nice outdoor seating area with fire pit out front and a bar and game room. The complimentary breakfast was plentiful and the scrambled eggs were tasty with addition of herbs, but unfortunately, the second day it was removed before the cut off time of 10am. When we asked if we missed it we received a chirpy "I'll take it all back out", (again, Tiffany) which she did, minus the tasty eggs. Note to management; regular maintenance of the window sills is recommended or at least a warning to guests not to open them; check the drawers of bathroom when cleaning; if you know you have guests, leave the food out until the stated cut off to avoid the inconvenience of having to take it all back out and finally-suggest Tiffany work on her customer service skills. Two stars for the initial hostess, Kim, who greeted us the first night and ultimately made it right by refunding the second night and offering a coupon for an unlikely next visit. It probably COULD be a nice relaxing place- but in our case, sorry to say it wasn't. read more

They didn't bring all of the ordered food to the table. Had to ask for everything we ordered. Twice. Waitress finally brought the toast that was supposed to come with our order. We then had to ask two different people for jam. I don't know if they were understaffed or what the problem was but it was disappointing. Food was nothing special. Eggs, bacon, hash browns. Lovely to walk right next door to Taughannock Falls State Park and take in the natural splendor. The Inn's staff is excellent and if they had staff shortages you wouldn't know it. Very helpful making recommendations for dining or things to do. Excellent breakfast. I really enjoyed spending some time in the cozy little bar. Drinks were excellent. I found this charming, little gem when looking for a place to stop and spend my birthday night while on a road trip from MA to OH. It was about half way along my journey in the Fingerlakes region of NY & turned out to be everything I wanted, and more. When I drove in to the main entrance, I feel in love immediately with the way the way house and gardens were lit up so beautifully at night. I wanted to stop my car in the middle of the drive way to get out and take a picture. (I did not, but wish I had!) I got in around 9:30pm, long after the front desk closed, and was not anticipating seeing anyone, but despite it being late, I was still greeted at the front door by a friendly woman who offered to help carry my bags from my car. After settling in, I ran back to my car to grab the bottle of wine I brought that I thought I'd be enjoying by myself, and on my way back to my room, I heard a gentleman ask from his seat at the bar if I had everything I needed to make my stay comfortable. We chatted for a moment and I ended up getting to enjoy some birthday beverages with him and the lovely woman behind the bar, Gigi (the same woman who greeted me when I arrived). The gentleman turned out to be the owner and I felt so thrilled and grateful to be able to enjoy his account of the historic property and everything he had done to bring it back to its glorious luster. Carl and his team did a magnificent job of maintaining the inn's integrity and original charm. No detail had been overlooked. I even got to meet the woman who prepared the complimentary breakfast I would be enjoying the next morning (which was a delicious local, farm-to-table veggie frittata and the best pumpkin muffin I've ever had)! Carl even offered to take me a private tour of the adjoining properties (part of the inn) and the surrounding area, including Ithaca and Cornell, which I had never been to. I took him up on it the next morning and even ended up extending my stay an extra night because I loved it so much. I am so pleased I came across the Inn at Taughanock Falls and will absolutely be bringing friends and loved ones back to experience it's beauty and charm. We have traveled quite a bit. We decided to stay at this particular place because it boasted having a jacuzzi tub in the suite. When we attempted to turn on the jets, our first night there, they did not work. We contacted the night manager and she put in a work order. The next day, housekeeping came to exchange my towels and I asked if they knew if the tub would be fixed. She said she had told the front desk a while back that the jets weren't working when she tried to clean it. So then I contacted the front desk to find out what was going on with the tub because I had heard nothing and it was getting later in the afternoon of my second day at the Inn. The lady at the front desk said she was waiting to talk with her manager. I then called back 3 times,attempting to speak with the manager. Finally, I went to the front desk, the manager was there. I explained that housekeeping had said there had been an issue with the jets not working and we were sold a room, for a pretty costly price, with the staff having knowledge the tub was out of order. The manager said she called the owner to resolve it and was waiting on a call back. On my departure, I was given a gift certificate for $75 to use at their facility, which wouldn't cover the cost of a meal there. How disappointed I was. I do not recommend this place. read more

This is a magical place with top notch amenities and comfort. Our room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. The Inn has such old world charm. The restaurant was fabulous. Kudos to the owner Carl and the cook Joe and all of the staff. Sitting on the front porch of the Inn at night, we felt like family. This would be a great venue for a wedding or a family reunion. We stayed here over the weekend in room 75 that is in the yellow home about 100 yards from the main property. Our room had a view of the lake, an outdoor patio, and a Jacuzzi tub. The king bed was super comfortable. The room was equipped with a keuirg coffee makers, microwave, and refrigerator. We ate at the restaurant twice for dinner and it was amazing. They had a walkway to the falls that we did the first day and we went over to the lake the second day and rented kayaks and went swimming. We also went wine tasting to Americana and the Thirst Owl, both really close by. Great Location, Great Staff, Clean, and very Comfortable. We can't wait to come back! We were already planning our next trip on our last day. read more

The venue was 10/10- view gorgeous, the food was disappointing! We had a party of 5 with reservations at 7 they could not find. We got there early, discussed the reservations with the hostess who disappeared to text her manager for direction. She finally came back and said yes they would have a table for us and it would be outside. We sat in the bar area and at around 730pm they attempted to seat us inside - further discussion And we finally got and outdoor table. Service was slow, they ran out of butter, ran out of steak, ran out of ingredients to make our drink and bread. The food was warm not hot when it arrived. The chef was attempting to make and an over the top experience but we felt it was not executed well and to many conflicting tastes. The scallops were rubber or cold at our table and had no flavor. The final injury was asking for hot cup of coffee and it came out Luke warm. Our server tried her best. It was a long wait for meals to arrive. For the price it should of been near perfect. The fire works were excellent but I believe that was compliments of the 250 person wedding party going on. I honestly can not recommend it. I booked this in because of the closeness of the falls. The falls were disappointing because they were trickling. It was very pricey for a One night stay. I had picked the place and booked the reservation and when we arrived my boyfriend said he wanted to put it on his card. The clerk said that he could only put the balance on his card and this put me in an awkward position so I ended up paying for I was already Charged to my card for The reservation. I called to explain what happened and the woman said that I shouldn't be upset because it was a small amount charged to my card. I would not consider $200 a small amount, but maybe some people would. We ate dinner there that night and my dinner was very disappointing. I got the prime rib and my potatoes were cold and it was very fatty but my boyfriends dinner of Seabass was good. I should say though that the breakfast the next morning was delicious. The patio was nice and the inside was interesting because of the history, But the walls were very thin in our room and I could hear the every movement of the people in the next room. Let's start with the positives. The view of Lake Cayuga from the dining room is magnificent. It is visible from virtually every table. The cocktails were good, and the food was outstanding. We started with an appetizer of grilled scallops on a polenta cake that was delicious. We followed with a special of smoked lobster tail (delicious, but a bit on the small side and quite pricey) and a peach glazed pork chop with grilled green onion and potatoes au gratin. The food is definitely top notch. Now for the negatives. The restaurant is poorly run. The server who was pouring the water was chewing gum incessantly with her mouth open during the entire meal. Not only was it disgusting, every time she walked by you smelled the gum. The service was VERY slow. It took a long time to get our cocktails. Then even longer for the appetizer to appear. When we finished the appetizer, nobody brought fresh cutlery for the main course. After a long wait, the main course arrived, and now we had to wait for cutlery so we could eat it. Even that took longer than it should have. Because of the slow service, we never ordered a second round of drinks and decided to skip dessert. Tables around us took forever to be cleared and set up again, leaving us looking at dirty tables for no reason. There were plenty of servers and busboys around, so I don't believe it was a labor shortage, but rather poor supervision. At no time did anyone come over to apologize about the slow service or even to keep us in the loop about delays. Even the free champagne that they served us because it was our anniversary came in the middle of the meal at an awkward time in the service. The food is worth the trip, but be prepared that the service may not be up to par. read more

I just had my wedding at the inn last week and we could not have asked for a better day. The staff is friendly and accommodating and the food is out of this world. My husband and I met some family at the Inn for a long weekend get-away from NYC and had a spectacular time! We stayed in the Edgewood, which has great views of the lake and balconies on all the (well-equipped) rooms & was quiet despite the sold out weekend. I loved the pastries at breakfast, crab cakes app & clam chowder at dinner... The scallops are amazing and the turkey dinner was delish! I managed to also try the lobster linguine, pasta bolognese, homemade chicken parm, cheese cake & an unforgettable toffee pudding cake. The staff was really helpful & had recommendations for local hikes, running trails, places to eat in Ithaca & local wineries to visit, all of which we enjoyed! I have dined at the inn 5 times since the new owner has taken charge. The new menu is superb. It is a menu with many choices that will satisfy any diner. I have ordered lobster, scallops, the Kobe burger and the Pappardelle De Castelli. Each dish was outstanding. The truffle fries, which comes with the burger, are stand alone. I ordered the clam chowder before one of my meals and you are left wanting more due to its flavor. If you are looking for a dining experience that is fabulous, you must try the Farms. read more

Our children Catherine & George got married at the Inn at Taughannock this October the place was stunning. The entire staff was absolutely amazing & helpful as well as accommodating. Most of our guest primarily lodged at the Inn. All our guests loved the amazing views. My wife & I are planning to go back next fall to visit the wineries in that region. Perfect!! I honestly do not know where to start! Tiffany and Kim have been working with me for some time now getting ready for this special day, they both have made this experience for me!!!! I should have been so nervous with traveling so far but they made me feel so confident with everything. The front desk was so helpful, the housekeepers were personable and always there to assist. The food was delicious and exceeded every expectation I had. We needed for nothing and I even stayed an extra night because I just wasn't ready to say goodbye. I cannot wait until next time! Went here for a girls weekend, although the views are beautiful and location to the state park is great, it still did not meet expectations. After checking in we found out our toilet did not work properly. We immediately called, it was known that there was a problem, and we were told to call if any issues continued. We would have been on the phone all weekend, so we continually fixed the problem ourselves. When asked at check-out if it was possible to receive some form of compensation for having to basically be the plumber all weekend, we were told they would call us and let us know. Instead of a phone call we got our charged credit card receipt via email. Definitely not worth the price we paid at all. read more

We were there for the opening night of the season and for the revamping of the restaurant. While the wine list is short, most of the food is quite delicious. We mentioned it was our anniversary and we were very thoughtfully brought two flutes of sparkling wine. I HIGHLY recommend the olive oil lemon cake. I was quite satisfied with my dinner, but still scraped my dessert plate to get all of the cake crumbs and marmalade drizzle. read more

The first part of this review deals with the accommodations. My wife and I, and another couple, stayed here over Columbus Day weekend. We stayed at the Edgewood, not the main Inn so these comments reflect that. They use keys, real metal keys, the kind that go into locks. For me, that's a plus. It can't get de-magnitized because it sat near a cell phone. But, unlock your door, it stays unlocked until you manually re-lock it. Gee, just like at home. The rooms were spacious, and clean. Great view over the lake. Very comfortable queen bed (they also have rooms with kings). Fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. They have wifi, very easy to use, and apparently wired connections though I didn't use that. Cell service is virtually nill, another plus for me. So, accommodations, 5 stars. Now for the dining. Our original plan was to eat in Ithaca where we had advance reservations. But after spending the day exploring the area before check in, we thought why shlep back into town. So we called late for a reservation and they graciously slotted us in. They were busy, the Inn was filled. Their setup is an interesting concept. You buy the entree at it's price, appetizer, salad, dessert are included in that price. I had the salad & cheese plate, a fav of mine, salad w/ blue cheese, the lamb, and cheese cake. Sometimes I like having a complete meal like this. This was one of those times. It was great! The other 3 felt the same way. So, the dining room was full, late in the evening, but the food was cooked perfectly, the service attentive but not over-bearing. Breakfast. Not my favorite but still, what I should eat. Everyone else raved about the European style fruit, light pastry, muesli, hard boiled egg, hot crepe/waffle, yogurt, juice, coffee, tea. I want meat. But the gals loved it and I should be eating healthy. So, if you want a place from which you can explore the finger lakes, the wineries, the creameries, the arts, and the natural beauty, I recommend Taughannock Farms. read more

I chose the 37.00 filet mignon because I had some concerns about some of the menu items and figured it would be safe. The meat was flavorless and seriously undercooked and underseasoned. Service was inattentive to the point that I had to wait to get the waiter's attention to send it back. The grandma's chicken parm was deep fried and lacked sauce. The sauce arrived at the end of the meal. High-tailed it outa there. read more
