I was visiting from Washington DC and used Yelp for a much needed massage. I was having terrible issues with a pinched nerve and knots in my upper neck and bad. It's been 24 hours later and I still feel wonderful - probably even better today than I did yesterday. Made the appointment about 12 hours prior for the following morning. Their online system and customer service was easily navigated. Additionally, I was able to use my HSA due to doctors prescription for pinched nerve. Doing so made the experience 35% cheaper! From downtown Austin, it was $6 each way via Lyft. Pricing for 90 minutes for one of the best massages that I have received to date is very fair in my opinion. Had my first experience with Ashiatsu with Jackie today. I've struggled for years to manage my upper back and neck pain. Deep tissue massage has helped, but I've always felt like it wasn't deep enough and didn't get enough work done. Jackie was amazing and was able to apply enough pressure and really loosen me up. I left my 90 minute massage feeling taller and like I could actually move without much pain. I feel like with a few more sessions I might be able to make a dent in my pain! What a totally great experience. I've had a ton of massages...but this was a first. The Ashiatsu approach is unlike anything you have ever experienced before. I really didn't know what to expect and was thoroughly delighted. If deep tissue is your thing, you're in the right spot. I had a really fantastic experience at Austin Ashiatsu, yesterday! The facility is in a fun, artsy-fartsy area of east Austin. Mandy, my therapist, was absolutely stellar with her techniques and presence. One of the things I love best about Ashiatsu is the controlled gentle (not to be confused with fluffy, by any means!) pressure that does a phenomenal job of allowing the body to relax under it. This morning, I could tell a huge difference from my hips to my neck, but never did I feel the need to tense up against her work! It doesn't hurt! It's magical!!! Wow. I was so tight and desperately needed a massage. I booked an appointment with Austin Ashiatsu due to the amazing Yelp reviews, and it did not dissapoint. I won't lie to you, it was IN-TENSE!! So I would not recommend if you are a massage wimp or if you are looking for pure relaxation. But if you want someone to go deep and work out all of your knots and kinks, then look no further. I indulged in the 90 minute Ashiatsu and Chakra Balancing combo. Sarah was my therapist. She did the massage first and then the chakra balancing. The massage was all business, and at times I had to remind myself to breathe. The chakra balancing was very spiritual and a lovely way to end the session. Afterwards, I felt completely relaxed and floppy. I will be back on a monthly basis, and I expect that I will feel better with each cumulative visit. Really unique and special. read more

I would be lying if I said that the massage was relaxing but my back (and still is) is extraordinarily tight (and not in a good way ) Katie was very thorough in trying to determine the extent of the knots. I told her they felt like bone and I think she actually yelped (with surprise) when she started working on me. But bless her heart she kept kneading and I just could not believe how deep Ashiatsu massage went. Unfortunately there is no way that one session can work out my knots but I plan to go every couple of weeks until she's successful. Ah, sweet sweet pain. This was my first time having ashiatsu massage, as well as cupping. I love how deep this type of massage is! It was more effective than any sports massage I've gotten in the past. Jackie was awesome. She worked on areas that frequently get tight from my workouts, but she also found areas I didn't even realize were tight, like my hips! The cupping was pretty cool too. I had super dark purple circles afterwards so I must have really needed it. After the initial soreness subsided (which really didn't take long), my whole body felt loose and opened up. I think there would be a lot of benefits to getting this type of work done on a regular basis. No doubt that I'll be back. read more

My husband and I went in for a couples massage last weekend and did Ashiatsu for the first time. It was awesome - you couldn't tell that Mandy and Andrea were using their feet at all, expect for the fact that it felt like the massage went a lot deeper since they could put more weight in certain areas than they could traditionally do with just their hands. We also liked that this wasn't a "big box" massage place and had a more cozy/relaxing environment. We'll definitely be going back! read more

This is going to be quick because I'm about to call to make another appointment. I was in a terrible wreck about three years ago and I am on my 4th chiropractor. I have had good experiences here before, but my last visit was not so good. And for $115/hr it definitely should be. First off the face rest had kind of a funky smell, as if it hadn't been washed for a day or two. That could just be me being hypersensitive. The massage was ok, but honestly my therapist went so hard on my back that it left me feeling way tighter and uncomfortable than before. She mentioned that it would be bruising too, so I am not sure if she missed the memo that I was there to unwind. Simply the best massage I have ever had! I have had many different types of massage.... Swedish, deep tissue, myofascial release, etc. Nothing compares to this. Not only did she (Cathy) work out all of my tigger points but she did it without causing extreme soreness or bruising, which I have experienced in other deep tissue massages.
