Most relaxing and thorough massage I've ever had. The environment and customer service are amazing. Other massage studios I've been to ask what my problem areas are but it always feels like they just go through a choreographed routine and spend minimal time on the areas I spoke to them about; Katie focus on my problem areas and got my knots out. This is by far the best massage place I've ever been to! I love that they rub you with their feet because you get a much smoother and stronger massage. I feel much more in alignment afterwards because no one is digging their fingertips into me. I saw the owner, Cathy, for over a year and now I see Jackie twice a month and they are both incredible. To be honest, you can't go wrong with any of the therapists. I've had massages from all of them over the years and they each have a unique style but are all extremely well trained that it's a bit like choosing your favorite ice cream flavor. I work out a lot and my muscles get tight from running so it's been extremely helpful to have Jackie work on my body on a consistent basis. I feel like my workout recovery time is much faster and my body is much more in alignment than ever before. I've had ashiatsu in my hometown before, and I had a really amazing and talented masseuse that I knew loved her job. I've been searching Austin to find a similar experience and after some research, decided to try cupping and ashiatsu here. Personally I felt the experience was over all ok, nothing super special and probably something I wouldn't invest in again. Lots of sustained pressure in your trigger points, and single leg footwork, which is something I'm not accustomed to. My body needs a lot of work and ironically after my visit I didn't feel much better like I normally do after an ashiatsu massage. Just wasn't my cup of tea. read more

I've been coming to Cathy for months and there is a noticeable difference in my body. I work at a desk all day and gather tension in my shoulders and hips to the point where sometimes the shoulder pain is so sharp I can't sleep. I also get frequent headaches and migraines. After this period of getting massage + cupping I've noticed a difference both with the tension pain and I get significantly fewer headaches. I normally have pretty high pain tolerance but I am an absolute wuss when it comes to handling the pressure of massage, so I've never been able to get a deep tissue massage before because I just couldn't handle it. Cathy suggested pairing the massage with cupping, as this way the cupping would aid the blood flow and muscle release without needing the hard pressure. Hurray! I have constant back pain, mostly in the neck and shoulder area. Cathy really hit all the spots that hurt. Most massage therapists have not been able to do that for me. The first thing I found was booking an appointment online made it very easy. I booked an hour and a half but noticed it blocked out 2 hrs. That's the second thing that was great. There was no rush and you have a FULL hour and a half for massage. That had not been my experience at other places. My appointment was with Andrea. My neck and shoulders were so tight from years in front of a computer that my range of motion was very limited. This massage was definitely the best massage I've ever gotten. And I've gotten lots. I get massages twice a month and have been for the last 10 years or so. I have lots of issues from sitting all day/stress/running you name it. Low back/legs/neck pain/tension headaches. I had thrown out my lower back, and was living in constant pain, mostly unable to walk or perform basic tasks for myself. I was sore the rest of the day after my first 90 minute session with Mandy, but I practically jumped out of bed the next day my pain was so reduced. For several days following the appointment, my range of motion continued to increase, and my pain continued to diminish. I had one more 90 minute session the next week, and I am now pain free and fully mobile in time for SXSW. This is hands down (feet down?) the most effective massage I have ever received. Cathy was awesome. I can honestly say this was the best massage I have every gotten. My friend recommended her and Cathy did not disappoint! I've been trying to get my boyfriend to go but he keeps hesitating because he gets grossed out by feet. I've never thought about it seeing as I always walked on my dad's back as a kid. The pressure was seemed more effective because she could apply more pressure, but it didn't hurt like a finger jabbing into you as it was dispersed across a bigger area. I LOVE Austin Ashiatsu! Not only the best massages I've ever received, but also just right for what I need at the time (more pressure, less pressure, deep neck work, etc). I say this because I've had ashiatsu from practitioners who didn't adjust to my body's needs and I just got super deep pressure and super squished (not helpful or enjoyable). Mandy and Andrea are amazing. Their ability to find the sore spots and problem areas amazes me!
