Their front door says it all with their triple B business rating and ASE certified mechanics. They also do a multi point inspection to make sure everything else is functioning. One thing that was pointed out, which I already knew about, was the fact that I had a torn CV boot that needed to be replaced. Since the CV joint had lost all the grease, it was also best to replace the whole axle which doesn't add that much to the price since most of this is labor. As a result, I made an appt and came back a few days after the oil change and had that repaired. I was pleased to see on the invoice that I am a gold VIP member which means I received an additional discount. I also appreciate the 36 month/36,000 mile warranty which dealerships often do not have. As someone who owns four cars, they'll be seeing me again at some point.

I came in for an A/C refrigerant recharge, which cost $311.22. I have no way of knowing whether the…read moreservice was actually performed, because the person at the counter told me afterward that I needed a new A/C compressor and a new condenser. They also claimed there was a leak in the system and that these parts needed to be replaced yet they did not recommend any diagnostic procedure to pinpoint the root cause. He is assuming that it needed to be replaced without performing any technical, visual, or mechanical diagnostic procedures. He recommended all of this while still sitting at his chair. The cost will be at 2264.77 Despite telling me the compressor was not working and the condenser was leaking; they still charged me for the refrigerant recharge. It makes no sense to charge a system with refrigerant if you believe the compressor is not functioning or the condenser is leaking. Major issues should be addressed before adding refrigerant. I paid the $311.22, but I have serious doubts that the service was actually performed. I am deeply disappointed. In my view, the way this business operates is unethical, and practices like this will cause them to lose credibility.

It's obvious that the mechanics don't drive the car after they've repaired it because that light was shining in my face the whole way back home and I don't see how they could've missed it. They also tried to sell me a bunch of other repairs and serviced, which were probably not needed. (I'm on a very limited budget). I appreciated the info and simply turned down those other tasks which I could either do myself or postpone for another time. I think the lesson learned is if you have an old car and you're on a limited budget (and aren't we all) watch out for suggested repairs which are simply based on the estimated age of the item or a maintenance schedule, and not an actual malfunction. I've attached the email chain in four pictures. As you can see in there, I explicitly told the technician that the car was brought in for oil pressure problems, and the oil pressure light was coming on. Also, I should add that since I received the car back the engine is running smoothly, but not a single drop of oil has dripped off the engine so I'm pretty sure there's no oil leak. In any case, a small leak would not prevent me from driving the car however, the oil light being on all the time would prevent me from driving it, and I don't think the car should've been handed back to me in that condition.

They were busy but were able to get me into the shop a week later. Well, it took all of 15 minutes to determine that I didn't need any of the recommended repairs. All Tune took the time to show me the parts in question and treated me respectfully. They also looked up my service schedule and let me know when I would really need to perform maintenance. Even more, they didn't charge me for their time. I'll be bringing my car back to All Tune when I need service. These guys are the real deal, the bomb. Thank you All Tune! Highly highly recommended.

Buddha's Garage is the second one. Dave has the energy of a man who has looked directly into the screaming mechanical abyss of humanity and simply sighed, grabbed a wrench, and fixed it anyway. I swear half the vehicles in that shop arrive after being spiritually wounded somewhere else. Other mechanics will look at your engine like medieval doctors diagnosing ghosts. Dave looks at it once, tilts his head slightly like a jazz musician hearing a wrong note, and suddenly knows your alternator was installed backwards by somebody named Tyler in 2019. And here's the wild part: he's honest. Like deeply, suspiciously honest. The kind of honest that makes you uncomfortable because you forgot businesses could still operate without trying to sell you seventeen imaginary emergencies. Dave will straight up tell you cheaper alternatives, better options, things you can wait on, things you DON'T need. I almost wanted to ask him if he understood capitalism. The customer service feels less like a business and more like your truck wandered into a monastery where everyone took vows of kindness and diagnostic accuracy. Meanwhile other shops are out here playing roulette with socket sets: "Hmmm yes, perhaps your issue is... all of the parts." Then Buddha's Garage fixes it in an afternoon and somehow charges you like they still believe in human dignity. Also -- Dave knows an absolutely terrifying amount about vehicles. Not "guy who watches YouTube tutorials" knowledge. I mean ancient-library-hidden-under-the-desert knowledge. The kind where you start explaining the noise your car makes and he already knows the answer before you finish making the sound effect. At this point I'd trust Buddha's Garage with anything mechanical. My car. My lawn mower. A damaged submarine.
