Had my 2019 X5 serviced here for an oil change and service light reset. I was a walk in. No appointment, though they do offer a key drop system to leave your car. I'm very particular on who works on my car. My dealer service warranty was up and I usually do my own work. But I wanted to maintain my drivetrain warranty so I needed a professional. I recently deleted my 5-star review for a couple of reasons. I thought I would just leave it at that, but then I had such a great experience with a different mechanic that I decided I needed to submit a new lower rating for Lindsey Bimmer Service. I've used this place several times. I've spent thousands of dollars at this place over the past 5 years. There was a guy who worked at the front desk back then who was really nice. Unfortunately, he's not around anymore. Josh has always been a bit gruff in my opinion, but I tolerated it because I thought I needed a bimmer expert to work on my car. Recently, though, I took the day off to get my car serviced for the "service engine soon" light. First, they brushed me off by saying it was only on because it was time for a state inspection. I've had this car for 5 years, and I've never heard of that. They said the inspection place sets it to come on annually (but when I asked the inspection guys about this they'd never heard of this). I pushed back saying it stalled on the freeway (something I already shared in my email to him before showing up but he didn't recall that or chose not to recall that). He said you can leave it with me. I reminded him I couldn't leave it without a loaner (like I said in my email to him...the email he responded to). I couldn't leave it. He said it could be a sensor and he turned my light off and told me to come back if it came back on. It came back on the next day. I emailed him to set up an appointment for a day when he knew he would have a loaner. He sent me a pissy, unhelpful response, and I decided not to take my car to him. I took my car to Dave's Ultimate Automotive and had an amazing experience for less money. They replaced my oxygen sensor AND one of my tire sensors all for about $500 LESS than what Josh quoted for the oxygen sensor work. And, they were super helpful and kind. They happen to be minutes from my job so dropping off my car for the day and getting a ride from a co-worker was easy. I will never go back to Josh's Lindsey Bimmer Service. I have to say, my last couple of visits at their new and much larger location were no where near as quick, efficient or fairly priced as the first one. For one thing, it took a week to do repairs I was initially told would only take 1-2 days. I also was the one who had to check in after days to see what was going on. No out reach calls to update me, keep me informed, or notify me that it was taking longer than estimated. They did provide a loaner which was appreciated. I also was told that they would replace one of my worn emblems for free. Later, when I received my bill I saw that I was charged for it. I asked Josh about this and he said the labor was free, but that I still had to pay for the part. Here's the thing, that was never communicated to me. I wasn't even the one who asked to replace the emblem. Josh brought it up and encouraged me to have it replaced and that it'd be free. Last, but not least, ever since they did this last work on my car, there has been an annoying high pitched noise whenever I start my car after it's been off for a while. I asked Josh about this and he said it's a secondary fan that kicks in. I told him the noise wasn't there before they did this last work, he said I must have never noticed it. I've owned this car for over a decade, this new noise is very noticeable. I didn't just wake up one day and and coincidentally notice it right after they worked on my car. Something they did made it noticeable, period. Fortunately it goes away after a few minutes, but to hear it every day is still annoying and again, it was never there before they worked on it. A friend in my car just over the weekend asked me what that noise was thinking something was wrong with my car so no, I don't think it's normal. I'm not sure what changed, but ever since they moved to this new location, the service, price, and attitude are not at all the same as what I previously experienced. As a result, I've not been back since and won't be. read more

MERCEDES TOO!!! My A/C stopped working the other day. The red light blinks 5 times and it will not blow cold.I looked around Cedar Park for a local shop because my E350 is out of warranty. I spoke to another luxury automotive shop in Cedar Park, and they diagnosed it over the phone and said that my compressor was bad and the repair would start at $2500.00. Most of the reviews for Lindsey are for great BMW service and I have a Mercedes. I went in and spoke to Clay. He was very nice and informed me that the computer shuts the a/c compressor off when it sees a problem. Clay assured me that they had the proper diagnostic tools to read and repair Mercedes. He said "let's take a look and see what's wrong." The problem turned out to be too much freon in the system. This car has only been repaired by Mercedes of Georgetown. Josh said it needed to be evacuated and recharged to the proper level. The car blows colder now than it did when I bought it 10 years ago. I was charged for a recharge and that was it. Very disappointed in my experience with these guys. Was referred to them after a bad experience with another shop and these guys were even worse. I had asked for everything to be checked out and for the AC, Windshield washer, and reason for over heating to be the main focus.. I was charged around 500 for everything and got a vague explanation of what was repaired. The windshield washer was not worked on (supposedly they had To wait on a part) and they were oblivious about working on the AC. By the time I had asked when the water reservoir was coming in, I needed an oil change. When I went back, the owner looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about my part(water reservoir) He had no idea who I was anymore, but explained that they fired the last guy that helped me and wanted to take my bumper off again to "check out the problem." They had already done that! I had to explain to him what the diagnosis was based on what THEY* had already told me. I end up having to leave my car again for ANOTHER WEEK. I begged them this time to fix EVERYTHING before they have me pick up the car. He looked me dead in the eye and said they would.. when I come back to get the car they tell me I had a hole in my oil pan. I asked them if he fixed it and he said no. That it would take too long, but they changed my oil and put the damaged oil pan back on. The other excuse was that it would cost a lot, lol. SMH. By the time I can take the car to work, my check engine light is on. When I bring it back to them, they said it was because of my gas cap being loose, BUT there was "a hose(he would not explain what this hose was) that needed to be replaced (ANOTHER 500$). They then hold my car for ANOTHER WEEK. I get a call from a lady asking me how my car was doing. She had no idea they STILL HAVE MY CAR. Then she sends me to the owner and he tells me I have to wait an ADDITIONAL TWO DAYS to get it. I finally get my car back and A DAY LATER MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON. I can't tie that gas cap on any tighter. I honestly think these dudes are using our vehicles for trial and error. They're barely learning and using our cars as lab rats. I've never left bad reviews, but I feel I owe it to aspiring customers of these guys to let them know what kind of service is waiting for you with Lindsey Bimmer Services. BEWARE... update*- also noticed that my stereo system is now synced to a different phone. Obviously these guys had their music going on my car battery's expense. I have had a couple repairs done which saved me at least $400 total. He charges a fraction of what the dealer charges. Awesome. I am so happy to have found josh. He is reliable and fast. I have a 528i, and have been dealing with Josh for about 7 months. I'm glad I found him on craig's list. I will forever be loyal to Lindsey Bimmer Service. My last 2 incidents have proven how honest of a mechanic Josh is, and those are hard to find. You will be very pleased with his services. My windshield wipers went out, I called explained the symptoms and he was perplexed with the symptoms. He has so much experience with BMWs, he can tell what is going on with the car just by the symptoms. I brought the car in and he checked it, again mentioning that he had not ever seen that. Nonetheless, he ordered a motor and a relay switch for it. He called when the parts arrived and I went to drop off the car. As I'm waiting for my ride to pick me up, he calls me into his workshop and shows me a mouse nest and how the wiring has been gnawed. I was expecting to pay about 700.00 that day, instead he charged me 50.00, and had my car inspected as well. He tends to throw in little things, like light bulbs or grease this or that at no charge. This last incident, however was the winner for me! My car overheated, I called him and the next day he was there. Due to the cold, my thermostat housing cracked. He looked through my receipts in the glove box and showed me where I had this replaced over a year ago at the former place I use to take my car to. He told me the normal warranty is 2 years for that part, he urged me to call the other place and tell them the issue. I called and they gave me a hard time, but they honored the warranty. That evening he called me to check on the car. He even offered to call the owner of the other place for me. Over an hour of his time, driving to my place, checking the car, going through my receipts, calling me back that evening, etc - THE CHARGE WAS ZERO!!!!!!!!! read more

His expertise was on display as he efficiently fixed my partial attempt at a fix and then confirmed it did the trick. I emailed Josh for a 2nd opinion, and even told him if I needed to spend money I'd rather give it to him than the stealership. He asked 2 questions and without hesitation he said it's probably the starter and gave me an estimate. After completing a full diagnostics on my BMW today, he confirmed it was my starter, also 3 hoses replaced, and changed my oil pan gasket due to warranty-all in all - he gave me a military discount and came under budget. I have finally found a great BMW indie repair shop on the north-side (i.e. north Austin, Leander, Cedar Park, Round Rock area). Lindsey Bimmer Service just finished replacing a cracked/leaking valve cover, a worn tensioner pulley, and a leaking oil filter housing gasket on my e84 X1. The work performed was first-class, and it was done very quickly. Josh, who I assume is the owner of the shop, was very upfront and accurate with his quote (parts & labor) for the repairs. At no point did Josh try to upsell me with an unnecessary coolant flush, or a fuel injection service (obviously these are legit services when needed) - I found this hard upsell practice to be commonplace at many other indie shops over the years, but not at Lindsey's. While this shop is probably not the cheapest indie mechanic in the area, their specialized knowledge, experience and quality of work rivals the local BMW dealer (and Lindsey Bimmer Service is a heck of a lot cheaper than BMW of Austin). I highly recommend this repair shop for all of your BMW repair needs. FYI, they also service other Euro manufacturers, and I'm sure they do a great job with them as well. read more

I took my car into to get a quote for Oxygen sensors. They quoted me 4 hours of labor and said they were doing me a favor. I had the dealer look up the hours to replace the top two sensors and it was 1.7 hours for the first, and an additional .3 for the second. They are not honest and don't use the labor manual to quote proper time. Be aware... an extra $200 plus dollars is a lot. Thanks..... read more

I will NEVER go here again. I had been bringing Josh my car for over 2 years because he usually shot me straight about what I needed. The drive from downtown austin was worth it I thought...... I bought my BMW in for routine oil check and i was out of windshield wiper fluid. Thats all I asked for, which the guy in the front said was not a problem. As I waited he talked me into getting new spark plugs and then I was told I needed a new belt- sure make the repairs now. As i was leaving I asked when to bring it back for oil change- 1 year I was told. We put a sticker on there to remind you. I got in my car and realized there was not a new sticker... went back in... sorry we forgot to change it... no big deal. new sticker and then drive off. about 5 miles back home.... starts to rain a bit.... try to use windshield wiper fluid and it doesn't work.... drive back to the shop... my windshield wiper fluid isn't working? Then I'm told I need a new motor for the fluid.... but Josh and another worker run out, open the hood and place about a gallon of wiper fluid in. then it works!!! I drive away but still dont understand.... so I call back and ask... "Do I still need to get a new motor or did you guys just not fill up the washer fluid" They say I "might" need a new wiper motor????? But when you guys put the fluid in then it started working?..... Yeah, we might have forgotten to do that. The guy on the phone gets an attitude with me and starts saying "we apologize again" Again?? there was no apology to begin with- I have the luck of trying to use the wipers and see they are not working- have to drive back and you tell me to get a new motor???! I spent $800 in 2 hours of being there, they forgot to do the easiest thing that I came in asking for and then can't even be up front about it!! Never coming back here!!! read more

I was tired of dealing with the dealership so we took it here after the check engine light came on. So I researched other BMW mechanics and found Josh to be really approachable and knowledgeable. I have always taken my car to the dealership, but with the economic times and Christmas coming up, I didn't want to choke up a lot for an Inspection I and tire replacements. I have an E46 and he was able to do an Inspection I and belt change at a great rate and found other things that needed to be looked at since my car was under warranty. I was also happy that he was able to come out and fix my car on site. It's nice to hear that there are mobile mechanics and he was able to let me watch what was going on when he was working on my car. He also was nice enough to silicone and fix my convertible top. I'm new in town so I'm very skeptical with car shops. I was looking around to get a few quotes for A/C service. I got a ridiculous quote of $2k for A/C service from another shop - German Auto Center. They wouldn't even put the freon on it cause they say that I need a new evaporator core and valve. I heard about Lindsey from a mail avertisement, and I'm so glad I took my car to his shop. Josh is a very honest and professional mechanic. He gave me advise about my car's A/C. He said that I might not need the big service quoted to me yet; but instead to just come in for A/C service when needed which is only $125.00. That alone is a major differentiator amongst the car shops in this town! I will definitely refer all my friends and colleagues to use his service for all their German cars. read more

He said it was not that bad but I chose to replace it. After the job was done he had informed me that he did some other things to me car that needed to be which was a pleasant surprise for me.
