So I went to Best Buy & called Ford for my cracked screen & they quoted me if not DOUBLE, then TRIPLE what Terry quoted me. (Actually terry over quoted me because I have an older model, so it worked out well for me!) He did it in under an hour while I waited in his shop, everything was perfect. Touch screen now works. My Cadillac dealer wanted over $2000 to replace the touch screen on my STX. Terry did it for 1/3 the price. He's an old guy who's been working on car dashboards for decades. I called in the morning, dropped my car off at 10:30 and it was done by 1:45pm. He does several a day. First come first served. Seems like there is a design flaw on car touch screens these days. It's not a safety issue, so there is no recall on touch screens. After the warranty expires, your on your own. Glad I found him. It's just him and his wife and a coupe of stalls. That's all he does. I took my 2000 Jeep Cherokee in to have a couple of malfunctioning speakers examined. I explained that I thought there was a wiring problem because the speakers sounded great they just cut in and out sometimes as if there was a bad connection. I was told that the two speakers were bad and they would need to be replaced. I tried to argue but he he wouldn't budge. His estimate for repairs was $100 parts and labor. After the work started he called said he found a faulty wire and that it would cost an additional $30 to replace the wire. This is exactly what I tried to tell him in the first place. He still claimed the speakers were bad as well. I paid $135 dollars for the completed repairs but when I listened to the sound that the new speakers were producing the quality was HORRIBLE. Much lower than my factory installed speakers, no base or treble. The sound was quieter too. The quality was noticeably low. I left unhappy. When I got got home I did some research and found that 2000 Jeep Cherokees have a common problem in which the front speaker wires become damaged due to years of door opening and closing. The speakers continue to function but the wiring must be replaced. My speakers were most likely completely functional and I only needed to replace a small section of speaker wire. So I was charged for 2 sub par speakers at $25 a piece plus $45 dollars labor and $30 to run a new wire, then Austin Radio kept my fully functional factory speakers. Seems like a scam and a rip off to me. read more

Just had my radio fixed by this shop. Very small shop. One guy owns it and maybe has a tech or two. Couple things.... 1. He has terrible reviews online. My mechanic recommended him to me and I asked my mechanic about the reviews. My mechanic said "yeah - he knows his stuff, just doesn't care [about reviews, customer service, etc]." This I can agree with. 2. The owner is rough around the edges. He comes off as gruff, to say the least. He mostly just doesn't seem to have good communication skills. If you're not used to dealing with someone like this, you will likely come away from your interactions with him with a negative reaction. BUT He knows his stuff! He found and fixed the two problems I had quickly. He called me several times with updates and didn't do anything without permission. Even though his communication style is on the abrupt side, he did what I wanted him to - which is fix my radio. There are few electronic repair shops left in this world and I didn't have many options for my car. If I had found him on my own, I likely would not have gone to him due to all the negative reviews. I encourage you to at least talk to him before deciding whether to use him. Before too long, there will be no repair shops left and we'll all have to buy replacement radios anytime something breaks. For me, that would have cost $2000 - $2500 vs. the $400 that I paid him. read more

He was there at 7am on a Monday so it was easy for me to drop the radio/DVD from my car and by 3pm the radio was repaired and ready. Terry doesn't speak much. I guess some people confuse that with being rude. I was just looking for a person to fix my radio, not for someone chatty. Additionally, price was $150 less than a quote I got from United Radio. I called AUSTIN RADIO & SPEEDOMETER on Friday 12/20/19 and asked them when would be a good time to drop off my car and have them estimate the cost of repair. They recommended Monday 12/23/19. Dropped off car at 8 am on Monday. They called with cost of repair and request to proceed with repair about 10 am and said they could complete job either that day or early the next. Received call on Tuesday 12/24/19 that repair was complete and picked up car around 11 am. The audio on my 2004 Acura Premium Audio and Acura/ELS Premium Surround Sound System w / DVD-A, DTS, AM/FM/Cassette and 6-Disc In-Dash CD Changer is now working beautifully. The customer service and quality of job performed on my car is very horrible to say the least. I travelled all the way from Katy to get the odometer of my 2005 Nissan Quest fixed. I needed to do this in order to be able to sell the car since I just bought I new one. The reception I got from the owner and his staff is unfriendly to put it mildly. I was not offered a place to sit as the owner attended to me at the parking lot. I was told that the company does not accept debit or credit card as means of payment, but when I requested to be directed to the nearest bank or ATM machine where I could go a make withdrawal, nobody could direct me to any. I only found out that there is a BOA ATM few blocks away from the company premises after consulting my GPS. I paid $275 to get my odometer fixed but when I woke up the next morning, the instrument had packed up. I returned to Austin radio again and the the odometer was 'fixed'. The following day, the instrument packed up again. When I called Austin radio, I was told that I will have to bring my car back to the company and leave it with them for 24 hours. Few minutes after I got another call from Austin radio telling me that I should not bother to bring the car back yet because they have run out of spare parts. I was told that I will be contacted when the so called spare parts arrive. Almost a week after and I am yet to get a call from Austin radio. This has hindered me from selling my car because nobody is willing to buy the car without seeing the odometer. There is no doubt that the decision to have Austin Radio work on my odometer is highly regretted. read more

Called this place this morning for a quote to have the pixel screen on my gauge cluster replaced on my BMW. Ive searched the forums and the 2 reputable shops in the country that everyone seems to use both charge 189 shipped both ways with 3 day turn around time. I was hoping that he would be in the same ballpark and he said 1 day turn around. Asked for a quote and got..... 275 to 450 lol. He may be the "best" Houston has to offer when it comes to speedometer repair but at those prices...ill wait the extra 2 days and pay alot less. His phone skills need some work too. read more

If you want to be abused by a businessowner, by all means, call these people. I didn't know I was talking to Terry at first. I called him and told him I was referred to him by a Lexus repair shop that sends him a lot of referrals. I told him that my touchscreen is not responding to touch although the screen works. I was given a recommendation by a Toyota dealership to contact Austin Radio. My Highlander radio had gone out and was hoping to have the radio replaced. I called the number and a gentleman answered. He said "please hold" while he had another call...no biggie, I waited about 20 seconds. He gets back on and asks how he can help me. Five seconds into my conversation, he says "hold on" and puts me on hold for another 30 seconds...by this time a little rude. So I proceeded to explain my situation again and he has this condescending/know-it-all attitude. He's responding to me as if I know the ins/outs of a radio...I don't and that's why I was going to use Austin Radio! Needless to say, with that kind of initial impression and potential customer service (or lack thereof), I will take my business elsewhere. Worst place ever. I went for some work couple of times. First he doesn't talk to you and he ignores you. He will make you wait and if you ask him anything he gets upset. They charged me 500 bucks and the it went bad in a week. I went twice after that. He even gave me a warranty for 6 months. But every time I call him or go to the shop. He makes excuses. The technician is not here or I don't have the parts right now. Terry the owner always has attitude. He doesn't even talk to you or explain what's going on. I just asked him to explain what's going and he got angry and started cussing. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Your money will go to waste and you'll have the worst experience ever.
