When I got my truck in 2007, it didn't have a tape deck or an aux jack to plug in my iPod, so I was forced to be the guy that had a trillion CD's in his car at all times like it was 1999 or something. After this finally got too frustrating for words, I let my fingers do the walking and found Mario at AES. I gave him a call and I let him know that I needed a new head for my stereo system. He pointed me to a model he thought met my specifications and set an appointment for the following Wednesday. The Wednesday came and he rolled up to my apartment right on time. The whole installation took about 30 minutes. I grabbed my iPod and we tested it out right there. Mario knew what he was talking about; the deck he installed was exactly what I wanted and I swear it even makes the speakers sound better. He never once tried to upsell me into something I didn't want or convince me to overhaul the whole system for an insane amount of money. In fact, his price was well within my budget. I hate to besmirch a place so highly rated by Yelpers, but I have now contacted this place THREE SEPARATE TIMES -- twice by email, once at their listed mobile phone (no one answered, but I left a voicemail) -- to set up a time for a simple stereo install (replacement of my head deck and replacing all of my six speakers - I already purchased all of the parts separately). NOT ONCE did they give me even the courtesy of a "hey, we're really busy right now" reply -- and note that I contacted them three times over a TWO-MONTH period. On my most recent call, yesterday morning, I told them (truthfully) that my schedule for this particular week happens to be almost entirely flexible, so I'd be available pretty much anytime for an install. I called to check if my 2008 Honda Accord sound can be fixed because it wasn't producing any sound. Mario was not available but he tried to help me figure out what was wrong with my stereo over the phone. He said he would look into it and get back with me. Called Mario to fix my Mom's 2001 Yukon speakers. The radio face plate was replaced years ago but never the speakers and they sound like crud! I hate putting music on even when I have to drive it! He said all 4 speakers typically go out in those and the subwoofer will probably need to be replaced and it'd take 2-3 hours. He quoted a very reasonable price. He kept in touch with me letting me now he was picking up the supplies and when he was on his way. He was actually early (even better)! He went straight to work on it and now it sounds great! Mario Rodriguez is an absolute professional. Communication, mentioned in past reviews as a sore spot, was immediate, impeccable and timely. I think they may have had an incorrect number. The phone numbers all match now. He installed a Viper alarm system and remote entry locks for a 1980 C10 with manual everything, even having the parts on hand to hook up the missing 1980 door wiring. His mobile operation makes it so convenient as he drove out to the suburbs to accomplish this in less than three hours. He does prefer cash over checks. Highly recommend and will use him again for installing inside lights to work with the remote access. read more

When I was in high school (I am 31 now), I installed a couple of car stereos..so when the stereo in the car I have now broke and needed a new one, I figured I could easily install it myself. Installing a new unit isn't as easy as it used to be (four speaker wires, power, ground, remote..and done). You want to retain steering wheel controls? You need an adapter and special harness. You want to use the factory XM antenna? You need an adapter and another special harness. If you have a factory premium stereo (Bose, JBL, Etc), this complicates things even further. Unfortunately for me, I figured all of this out after I had the car completely torn apart. I found Mario's information via yelp and gave him a call. He came out the same day and did a fantastic job. He fixed what I had screwed up and had a positive attitude about it. Highly Recommended Install information: 2008 Corvette: Kenwood DDX790 head unit, plus hidden Bluetooth microphone and XM stereo antenna. He also installed a backup camera hidden in the back license plate bracket. read more

Mario is very reliable and makes sure that his customers get what they pay for. He installed an AUX port for me. Before he left we tested it and it worked fine. A few hours later I started losing sound out of all of the left speakers. Mario came back out and replaced the port and while testing this new one, found that it also was intermittently losing sound out of the left speakers. He then went back to his warehouse to get a different style of port and came back to install that one, which fixed the issue. While it is unfortunate that he had to come back twice, he got it all done the same day and stands behind his work, plus a one year warranty. I would highly recommend. read more

Mario was very cool throughout the entire troubleshooting period with my van. The previous owner of the vehicle apparently had installed an aftermarket stereo and did not reconnect all the proper wiring back to the stock radio they put back in when selling. After testing the amplifier and individual speakers on their own, it came down to the wiring behind the stereo and what looked like a nightmare was solved within 10 minutes. I did have to pay for a used but fully functional identical replacement amplifier but other than that, pricing was reasonable for his time. Highly recommend Mario from my first experience. read more

Called Mario based on reviews here. Have a car I bought used that had some unknown aftermarket alarm in it - I couldn't stop the horn from chirping all the time. He met me at my office (within 90 minutes of me calling!) and had it done in literally 20 minutes. He's no punk kid - has gray in his beard & knows his $h!t - He located then determined the make & model of the alarm, was familiar with it, and reprogrammed it, all within an amazing short timeframe. Very pleased with the service Mario provided. He was very convenient since he's mobile, and very fast (it took him 30 minutes to install the Bluetooth kit in my Lexus), and he does great work. Would highly recommend! He's really busy and a little hard to schedule with, so be patient. I only say that because one review said they couldn't get ahold of him. You just shouldn't expect an immediate call back, but he will respond. He called back the next day and was very accommodating. You can also text him, which might be faster. I called Mario to talk to him about upgrading my system in my 2011 Hyundai Sonata. I replaced the head unit, added an amp, subwoofer, replaced the existing speakers, and added XM. He helped me with my purchase choices and came to my house to install it. He did a wonderful job. In fact, I was so pleased, I upgraded my wife's as well. I would HIGHLY recommend his services. You'll be far better off working with him and taking advantage of discounted online equipment or buying it from him and not at a local store. You'll just end up overpaying for it. As a mom of a 16 year old son I had no idea where to look to get good quality sub woofers for my son for Christmas. I spent about 5 (grueling) hours with my son going from 290 to Harwin getting quotes on various systems and frankly didn't understand much of what I was told. Wanting to teach my son the process of researching an item before purchasing we Yelped to read reviews before making a decision and we found Mario with a consistent 5 star rating and knew he was our man. Mario came by to look at my son's truck and then called me back and gave me a quote which was very reasonable and included the right equiptment for what our job required. I wanted a reasonable system but didn't want to sacrifice sound quality. We set up an appointment and Mario and Eric came to our home with exactly the perfect size box for my son's truck model, precision tools and quality stereo equiptment. Within about 2 hours my son had the system of his dreams! Mario also installed a horn we had purchased and checked the security system that we were having a few issues with. He explained how to operate the system and left our driveway cleaner than it was when he came.
