This is the best place to go to in Houston for automotive audio. I had a problem with my subwoofers and these guys immediately took on the job without hesitation. A+ for competence, persistence and fair price on an usual customer request to install a touch screen and Apple Play in my 2019 Lexus ES 300H. Rami and his team spent many more hours on this project than the company had indicated would be necessary. Rami kept telling me they would make it right or take it out and re-install the factory screen/radio at no additional cost. The product came from a Denver company (Merge Screen: hint, do not buy from them!) that ended up being totally unhelpful despite Houston Car Stereo reaching out to them dozens of times. Eventually another similar company based in Philadelphia was able to provide installation advice on a nagging detail of the process. Since the original Lexus screen was not a touch screen and instead had a ridiculous touch pad, I was eager to replace it with a touch screen. There are a several functions that require the factory install, such as re-setting the digital clock for daylight savings time, so there had to be a way to toggle between the factory screen and the touch screen. This ended up being a job that took several weeks but Rami and AJ kept at it. I was always treated with respect and welcomed back even though I had given them the project from hell! I appreciate the extra effort, improvisation, many additional hours of labor and no upcharge and am very happy with my new touch screen and Car Play. read more

I had an Android AUTO conversion kit installed in my 2015 Lexus RC350 sport coupe, and it didn't put out audio due to a problem in my factory radio head unit. They diagnosed the problem but a new Lexus OEM head unit is about $4K!! Ouch! However, they arranged a repair which took aa couple of weeks but was a fraction of the cost and I now have a like-new system with all the Android Auto features. Do not trust these clowns with your car. My first experience I was referred by another business as I had booked with them but they encountered some health problems and were unable to do the work. Everything had been agreed upon but they were fulfilling the work. I had a JL audio amp and sub box with 2 10"s being installed with a bass attenuator knob that should have been installed in the center console per our agreement. When I picked it up, the knob was under the dash where it was not convenient to play or safe to use while driving. They told me the cable wasn't long enough and so they took the liberty to install it under the dash instead of contacting me or asking if that was acceptable. In the process the existing speaker grills of my vehicle were damaged. Unfortunately it took months of hounding them to get try and get them replaced which they agreed to but then kept "forgetting" and during the process my vehicle was totaled so it was never taken care of. I was able to salvage the box as they had instructed me to do. I want pictures and explained exactly what was going on and asked for a price to repair the box, install the box and add a new attenuator bass knob and confirmed 3 x that it would be installed in the proper location. We agreed on a time to drop off the vehicle for the work to be done. I arrived on time and asked for The gentleman who I had worked with. They told me he wasn't in so I explained what needed to be done and shared the texts with them. They proceeded to tell me that the box could not be repaired. Then the tech stepped in and said that yes it could be done as I had already been told. Then they more than doubled the price as a minimum! I told them we already had an agreed price and the details were all shared and shows them the texts again that contained close up photos of everything and a very clear agreement. They said they didn't care and wouldn't do it and stated walking inside. I told them they were dishonest and wasted my time as I already had someone coming to pick me up and I had driven 45 minutes to get there. I told them I would be leaving a review. Then the older man tried to get in front of my car and not let me leave and told me they would do it. I wouldn't trust this business with anything. I hope this helps anyone that is making up their mind on who to entrust their vehicle with. read more

Honest dealings, quick installation service, and a friendly touch. I had two aftermarket products installed in different years.

Brought in my car to replace the speakers and add an amp. It's a 10 speaker system and I wanted 8 speakers replaced and a powered subwoofer added to the back. They showed me the 8 channel amp and the speakers they were going to install. When I returned and tested the audio, I could tell that they'd only replaced the speakers in the front doors. That's a total of 4 speakers. There was absolutely no balance to the system, all of the audio was coming from the door and it completely destroyed the point of having a 10 speaker system. When presented with my concerns, a series of lies and deflections unfolded. 1) They brought out the installer and told him I wanted the dash speakers replaced. He said he could do it, but not on a "5 channel amp". Interesting. They were supposed to use an 8 channel amp that they made sure to show me on Crutchfield.com retailing at $1799. A 5 channel amp would be more in the neighborhood of $600-$700. A rather significant equipment change to not involve the customer's approval. 2) One of the younger guys insisted they had replaced ALL the speakers, despite the other 3 acknowledging that they had not. 3) I was told that NOBODY replaces the dash speakers as if I was an idiot. I assure you that they do. In fact, days after this episode ALL of my speakers were replaced, including those mysterious dash speakers. And the result was excellent. 4) I was told they would throw in an additional 5 channel amp for free. This was not a gesture of good faith, this was an indication of just how much money of the $3.4k job they had NOT used in the initial install. It was obvious with the amp swap that they tried to pull one over on me, so I told them to take everything out and restore the original system. At this point, I was told - 5) I needed to pay for their labor. This despite the owner assuring me repeatedly beforehand that if anything wasn't up to snuff they would take it out and there would be no charge. I declined the offer to subsidize their shop. 6) That it would take TWO DAYS to remove everything. They had replaced 4 speakers in the front door. FOUR. And it had taken them roughly 4-5 hours. I told him that wasn't acceptable and said I'd give them until the end of the next day. Miraculously, they were able to restore the factory system in 3 hours. I think you get the point. There's more but I'm going to leave it here. TLDR: They assumed I didn't understand speakers and after quoting $3.4k for an install, swapped the equipment for cheaper items and didn't replace everything agreed upon. They did not change the price. When confronted, they did everything they could to manipulate me. If that sounds like a good shop to you, then you know where to get your work done. They've been around for decades so I trusted the reviews. I'd say that if you can visually see the equipment you want them to install, you'll be fine. Otherwise be on your guard. read more

I finally decided to get upgrades for my car and I decided to come to Houston Car Stereo after seeing all the good reviews. Let me tell you right now, they absolutely deserve 5 out of 5 stars.When I got to the shop, I told the team that I wanted Apple Car Play and to maybe upgrade my speakers. They asked if I wanted to add a subwoofer and I said no and it was never brought up again. They didn't try to upsell me on anything i didn't want. Based on the music i listen to, they recommended me some Alpine speakers (just for the front since it's usually just me in the car) along with what Apple Car Play kit would work with my 2016 Lexus NX. I also asked about changing the screen my car came with and they told me their recommendation of keeping my current one. The quote I got was within my budget and they immediately started working on my car. When my car was done later in the day, they taught me all about the new system and set my phone up. All of my questions were answered during the lesson and they really paid attention to me. I truly feel like I have a new car now. I can't recommend this place enough!
