We trusted Dr. Kim with ongoing care, which is why this situation was so disappointing…read more We made a 2-hour round trip to a follow-up appointment only to be unexpectedly informed by Ying, the PA, that Dr. Kim was no longer with TriCity Pain, and that May 24, 2024 had apparently been his last day. Patients were never notified beforehand -- no call, message, letter, or any other communication. Finding out at an appointment that your physician had already left weeks earlier is unprofessional and unacceptable for continuity of care. The core issue is a lack of integrity in how this transition was handled toward patients in a pain clinic setting, where individuals are already dealing with significant ongoing suffering and dependence on consistent care. Abruptly leaving without proper notice shows a concerning lack of consideration and accountability toward those relying on treatment. If there was a reasonable explanation for the abrupt departure, it was never communicated to patients. Even in difficult or unfavorable situations, patients deserve a basic level of transparency and a diplomatically delivered explanation, particularly when ongoing care is involved. Even Ying appeared uncomfortable being left to explain the situation to surprised patients arriving expecting to see their physician. To be clear, the issue is not that a doctor changes practices or opens a new clinic -- that is understandable. The issue is how it was handled. Patients deserved honesty, transparency, professionalism, and integrity throughout that transition. UPDATE to previous review: Dr. Kim's response does not address the central concern raised in the original review -- the lack of communication and failure to notify established patients prior to his departure from the practice. It does not acknowledge the impact on patients who arrived for scheduled care and were only then informed he was no longer with the clinic. The response also does not include any apology to patients affected by the lack of notice and disruption in continuity of care. The use of the word "unfortunately" comes across as dismissive in context and does not address the underlying concerns regarding patient communication or continuity of care. Additionally, it references a "2024/2025" departure timeline, which is inconsistent with what patients were told by the practice (May 24, 2024) and does not align with what we experienced firsthand on June 4, when patients arrived for appointments and found he was already no longer there. Overall, the response does not engage with the communication failure or patient impact raised in the original review.

He ordered a MRI and prescribed Gabapentin. I filled the prescription but the list of possible side effects were terrifying. I called the office and informed them that I would not be taking that particular medication and would another alternative to relieve the terrible pain that I was in. I was informed he would not recommend or prescribed anything until after the MRI. There was zero concern for my pain nor any follow-up after I did the MRI which showed several issues. MY GP saw the MRI and stated that my pain must be intense and it was. Dr. Mancera obviously did not care about the pain due to his lack of follow-up or willingness to prescribe anything else but a medication that after research I did not feel safe taking. I felt unheard and uncared for. I would not recommend.

Really not a particularly good practice…read more I had a few procedures done to relieve some chronic back pain subsequent to surgery. Although they seemed to know what they were doing, I didn't get very much relief. Billing was an absolute nightmare however. I got bills that didn't make any sense. Spent hours and hours trying to get it straightened out. After months of tremendous frustration, they got a woman who was actually able to help with it. They had made several BIG mistakes (billing twice for the same thing, etc.), that were always in THEIR favor. Eventually, got it squared away (I ended up owing over $2,000 less than they were trying to get from me). By then treatment was complete and their new "suggestions" weren't terribly helpful (for instance, a $2,500 back brace which wouldn't allow me to sit in my chair at work). Just not very good at what they do and terrible at billing. I'm very glad that I'm not dealing with them anymore. There are plenty of other really good Pain Management Practices around.

I was given an amount much lower than my supposed total (which had included balance billing and significantly higher charges)-I paid cash to end it. He has been among…read morethe worst doctor's that I have ever had the misfortune to have dealt with for the following reasons: - Rushes the appointment - General disinterest - Does NOT fill your prescriptions In my initial appointment with him, he attempt to make an effort at listening to me however the entire appointment felt extremely rushed and he made nearly every attempt to end it within 10-15 minutes. Following this, it was nearly impossible to get a prescription filled by him to the point that in the last two months, my prescriptions were filled by other doctor's (despite significant efforts including calls, online messages in the portal, and online messages on the Victory Medical Klarna messenger ranging from 10 days up to day of). The staff was also deeply unhelpful, letting me know that in order to get my prescription refilled, I should use the online portal, but if I sent in my prescription request earlier than 5 business days, then it would be ignored. If I sent in later than 5 business days, it was also likely to be ignored. And when I did send it in 5 business days, it was still ignored. I have left several online messages, following up each day, in an attempt to just get a response, and in the past few months I have received none. And god forbid you have multiple prescriptions, because Dr. Pekar will maybe fill one prescription and completely ignore the others. They also look to charge your insurance as much as possible. By state law, practices can but are not required to drug test you for controlled prescriptions. Most doctors range somewhere between once to twice a year. Dr. Pekar will force you into doing a drug test EVERY month. So, not only is he an uncaring and lazy doctor, he also wants to take as much money from you and your insurance by pushing needless tests on you as often as possible. In sum, please do NOT see Dr. Pekar if you want quality care.
