We trusted Dr. Kim with ongoing care, which is why this situation was so disappointing. We made a 2-hour round trip to a follow-up appointment only to be unexpectedly informed by Ying, the PA, that Dr. Kim was no longer with TriCity Pain, and that May 24, 2024 had apparently been his last day. Patients were never notified beforehand -- no call, message, letter, or any other communication. Finding out at an appointment that your physician had already left weeks earlier is unprofessional and unacceptable for continuity of care. The core issue is a lack of integrity in how this transition was handled toward patients in a pain clinic setting, where individuals are already dealing with significant ongoing suffering and dependence on consistent care. Abruptly leaving without proper notice shows a concerning lack of consideration and accountability toward those relying on treatment. If there was a reasonable explanation for the abrupt departure, it was never communicated to patients. Even in difficult or unfavorable situations, patients deserve a basic level of transparency and a diplomatically delivered explanation, particularly when ongoing care is involved. Even Ying appeared uncomfortable being left to explain the situation to surprised patients arriving expecting to see their physician. To be clear, the issue is not that a doctor changes practices or opens a new clinic -- that is understandable. The issue is how it was handled. Patients deserved honesty, transparency, professionalism, and integrity throughout that transition. UPDATE to previous review: Dr. Kim's response does not address the central concern raised in the original review -- the lack of communication and failure to notify established patients prior to his departure from the practice. It does not acknowledge the impact on patients who arrived for scheduled care and were only then informed he was no longer with the clinic. The response also does not include any apology to patients affected by the lack of notice and disruption in continuity of care. The use of the word "unfortunately" comes across as dismissive in context and does not address the underlying concerns regarding patient communication or continuity of care. Additionally, it references a "2024/2025" departure timeline, which is inconsistent with what patients were told by the practice (May 24, 2024) and does not align with what we experienced firsthand on June 4, when patients arrived for appointments and found he was already no longer there. This is not Pain Management if you can't prescribe the pills I need and require for DDD then you are not Pain Mngmt, maybe regenerative Medicine but not Pain Mgmt. The only thing they can do for you is shots or injections, any pill they prescribe you can get from your regular PCP and physical therapy or yoga you can do at your house. read more

I had high expectations. I was never looked at--and sent away for MRI with not even continuing treatment in the meantime for debilitating pain. Dr. K never looked at me, when he came in the office after all that paperwork, absolutely no addressing of pain treated elsewhere adequeately for years but great doctors, well known. I was very disappointed. When I left, and old woman was waiting for MetroRide, cursing about receiving not a bit of help for her problem!! Waited and waited to see Dr. David Kim. I arrived 45 minutes in advance with all my paper work in order. He was not able to make his appointments on time and his many assistants did not know how to look look up my MRI image on ARA. A good doctor researches a new patient before the appointment. His office in an almost abandoned strip mall. Waited over an hour just to use the bathroom because none were available. Would not trust this Doctor to manage my pain if he cannot manage an office. I gave up waiting (80 minutes) and just left very disappointed. Of course they did not refund my copay. read more

I saw Dr. Kim a few years ago for lower back intense pain. I saw him about 4 - 5 times. Each time, he charged me a few hundred in addition to medicare payment. Needless to say, I spent lots of monies and got absolutely no relief. I chose to go to another doctor and I told him my experience. Dr. David Kim is wonderful! I have dealt with chronic pain for the last 12 years. I'd tried all of the conservative treatments you can imagine; chiropractic, acupuncture, inversion, decompression, physical therapy, massage, opioids, TENS units, etc. I was welcomed into his practice by very friendly front desk staff. Ms. Sarah is dynamite at accommodating schedules, answering questions, and running the office smoothly. Ms. Iris assists Dr. Kim with procedures and visiting with patients. Iris is very caring and compassionate. Dr. Kim took the time needed to consult with me. He reviewed my medical history as well as my personal experiences to propose a plan of care. I feel he is kind hearted and sympathetic. At no time did he push one care plan over another. In my case, we worked together to formulate strategy to tackle my lumbar pain. I've had several steroid shots and ablations right in his office that have been so very helpful. Note that he will not push pills to mask your pain. He will literally get to the root of it. I can't recommend his practice enough. Five stars all the way! read more

I was referred to Dr. Kim by my primary care doctor because of chronic pain in my neck. It has become so bad that it is affecting my strength in the arms and hands. My primary care doctor has sent me to physical therapy and giving me some NSAIDs. Dr. Kim was very nice and attentive. He listened to all my concerns and sent me for some testing. After that, he sat down with me and discuss the options that I have moving forward. I am so glad to know that there are other options for me because IDon't like medicines in general so I'm trying to avoid all the addictive stuff. I want to do a rewrite. Just a week ago I "yelped" about frustrations contacting the doctor's office through layers of bureaucracy. It was true and in this case was augmented by holiday traffic and stress in driving after a vertebrae fracture. I had to reschedule my appointment to this week, but yesterday Dr. Kim saw me exactly on time and apologized for the problems I had experienced. No need to apologize - the complaint had to do with the electronic communication system. Dr. Kim and his staff were very kind and personal. And the results of my kyphplasty procedure were excellent. Excellent Care! My 88 year old, father-in-law fell and fractured his back (compression fracture) our his PCP first referred him to another doctor. That physician scheduled an appointment three weeks out. My father-in-law was in terrible pain after a visit to the ER and we called Dr. Kim to get an appointment. After a small hiccup, his staff got us in within a day. They treated my father-in-law with respect. They were patient and facilitated getting his MRI expedited to the same day and three days later we were getting the procedure to get him some relief. On the follow up visit, we saw his assistant who listened patiently as my father-in-law went through all the issues he was having, changed the regime to his satisfaction and did so with the utmost respect and dignity. I went to see Doctor Kim on the 3rd of February, i understood before coming in he wouldn't be able to prescribe me high dozes of pain medicine, but i felt like maybe he could do SOMETHING to help me, well after paying $350 for my first visit BEFORE Seeing the doctor, i was already anxious, and rightfully so. the doctor didn't do ANYTHING for me what-so-ever, and sent me on my Merry way in chronic back pain. he didn't offer me any kind of Medicine, he basically gave me a "That's Life" shrug and out of the office i went. i paid $350 for somebody to tell me they couldn't do a thing for me. i will NEVER go to a doctor that requests full payment up front again. this guy is nothing more than a scam artist and i advise you to stay FAR away. the people giving 5 Star Reviews CLEARLY are not in any REAL Form of pain, or must just enjoy handing over $350 to be told "I can't do anything for you" i want my money back, but i HIGHLY doubt ill ever see it again. read more
