We got all rental deposit back thanks to their move-out cleaning service. And trust me, that was no small feat because our moving guys left the floors super messy! We were moving cross country during the huge ice storm this year. Our move-out date kept getting pushed and most of the city was without electricity. Ginger kept in close contact with us the entire week and was incredibly gracious and organized keeping up with our constantly changing date. The fact that she was so fast to respond to our emails during a time of statewide crisis was truly amazing. We weren't able to be at the condo the day the maids cleaned, and I was nervous that a lack of supervision might lead them to miss some spots since we weren't there to answer questions, but my fears were unwarranted. Our landlady saw the before-and-after state of the condo and said she was amazed at how clean it was, considering that the moving guys had tracked so much mud all over the place. We'd sprung for the baseboard cleaning and interior window cleaning and I think that was money well spent. UPDATE: As soon as I posted my one star review, the company immediately reached out and indicated concern and requested the email I used. They also provided a phone number and were very willing to talk to me about the situation. That was nice because they could only guess as to the intensity level of how that call would go, but were still very willing to speak to me. They had no obvious record of receiving my email correspondence. I verified the email address I sent them to (as I had directly replied to their correspondence) and they have indicated they are looking for them. Unfortunately, the problem was over a year ago, and I sat on writing this updated review a long time, so it is doubtful they will be found. I cannot verify that the emails were not received, but I know that problems like this occur. I will not question their honesty. The three times I did use them, other than the problems that resulted in the offer for a free cleaning, they did do a good job. They have offered to work with me and make good on their promise. I sincerely believe they will do this. However, I am not taking them up on this offer. Please note they they are doing this in good faith. Also, one of the cleaners broke a light bulb in my bathroom, forcing me to replace all the bulbs (I couldn't match the other 3 bulbs), which caused me to be later to work than I had planned. Ginger apologized and offered me a future cleaning at no cost. Ginger's email stated: "Thank you so much for this update! I'm disappointed to hear this. What I'd like to offer is if you were to give our company another chance, your next cleaning would be 100% complimentary. We are always working to improve our service and our staffing and we, and I, take that work and effort seriously. I apologize that the service was lacking and that we were unable to get out there in a timely manner to resolve this issue. I genuinely appreciate your feedback and input. Then recently, they left a huge stain on an expensive area rug and claimed they didn't know who did it, but they offered to fix. We let the cleaners in the home and left to run errands. There was no furniture or boxes so we assumed this should be a simple job. NOPE. Every single day since then we find new things they missed or only half did. - Both showers they sprinkled the cleaning powder inside and never washed it out or scrubbed them down - Drawers full of hair and dust that were never cleaned - Cobwebs behind toilets and dirty baseboards - Cabinets with dust and trash left behind were never cleaned - Fridge was sprayed with cleaning solution but never wiped away so it dried onto the front - and more The move in package was supposed to be comprehensive but the cleaners were not. We found a few obvious things the next day and they had someone else come back out to fix them but he just quickly fixed the few things we pointed out as examples and never looked beyond that. For instance, he stepped into the shower with the powder still in it from the previous cleaners and never noticed it hadn't been washed down. This was not worth anywhere near the $200+ we paid. I arrive back at my empty house at 5:30pm and my heart fucking SANK. the oven had been cleaned (thank god) but man, so much shit was still dirty as hell. I couldn't believe it. I called my boyfriend and told him to cancel our plans (which involved sitting on our butts all night because we had just moved and we're exhausted, duh) and that we'd need to clean, as the next tenant was moving in the next day. Updating my review. Back in February, I hired Austin's Maid Service for a one-time deep clean of our home. They came and did a wonderful job and I will maintain that the quality of their work is fantastic. My husband and I were so impressed with the quality of their work that we decided to make room in our monthly budget to get a monthly cleaning from them and in the interaction of setting up the monthly service, things went downhill. Long story short, they are very ambiguous with their pricing and it's like pulling teeth to get a clear and straight forward answer and while the quality of their cleaning is great, we are very unimpressed by their inability to effectively communicate and their bad customer service when trying to clear the air. For examples of what I mean: In our February cleaning, during scheduling, I picked a Saturday because I work from home during the weekdays and it's the easiest day for me to be away from home. After selecting Saturday, they informed me that on weekends there is an additional $10 fee and asked me if that was OK. I agreed and I had been charged an additional $20. When I inquired, they stated that it was an additional $10 PER CLEANER. I don't have an issue with the pricing or the policy, just that they weren't up front about it and weren't clear in their communication. In attempting to schedule our recurring cleaning, I asked whether it would be possible to request a more detailed cleaning on an as-needed basis and what the cost of it looked like (in other words, as a recurring customer, would we get a better rate on a detailed cleaning than we did back in Feb for our one-time detailed clean). They never really answered this question. First, I got a response back saying that they handle inside oven, fridge, windows, (and a few other items) on request at no additional cost to recurring customers. Great, I was excited about this so I requested that they handle those on the very first cleaning. They then came back and said they can absolutely do that but that my first cleaning would then be $60 more than the price they quoted me and that the remainder of my services would be the price quoted. So I sent them a snapshot of their email to clarify and they came back and said, "oh we can only add one of those services to your cleaning at no additional cost". I have no issue with their being a greater cost for a deeper clean - what put me off is how misleading they were and the number of back and forths it took to get to the same page (ish) - read the next paragraph for more. We didn't have the increased price in our monthly budget for their $60 increased quote, so we asked them not to do the more detailed cleaning on the first visit and to just do their normal clean. I then asked for some clarity on their pricing with regards to the pricing on a detailed cleaning for recurring customers (just so I have the knowledge and ability to request it IF I were to need it - the $60 increase of the original quote was the same amount I paid for a deep clean as a non-recurring customer). I couldn't have asked the question in a clearer way: If we needed to get a more detailed cleaning, it would be the same cost as if we were one-time customers doing a one-time detailed clean at $240 + tax Is that understanding correct, yes or no? They literally never answered that yes or no question and came back with some BS about them using our February cleaning as our "first" cleaning and somehow misleading us into thinking we were getting some sort of a discount for a general cleaning at the original price they quoted us. Their reply literally made no sense. We weren't looking for any discounts, we were simply trying to understand as recurring customers if the cost of a detailed cleaning is different (should we need it) from the quote we received for a one time clean many months ago. We replied back canceling our service because the communication was (a) too unclear, (b) there were too many unnecessary back and forths, and (c) they were not being up front about their pricing. So they cancelled our service, but rather than apologizing or trying to fix any misunderstandings, they insinuated that we were confused and that they were not at fault for any miscommunication. In any case, it was too much of a mess and we couldn't get answers to basic questions. We didn't want to deal with a company where basic communication is an issue, so we cancelled and went with another company where the pricing and communication was much more straight forward. They answered all our questions and in one interaction, the job was booked. If you want to deal with hidden costs and unclear communication for an excellent clean - definitely go with them. We'd rather put in the time to find a company where the quality of the clean is equal, but also where pricing and scheduling are not a complete nightmare. read more

So good! Getting a quote and booking an appointment was SO easy...like, "sure, we can come exactly when you want us to," easy! I must be dreaming. The young lady who came to the house was fully stocked with cleaning supplies and what seems to be the most amazing vacuum cleaner ever. She was on time, nice, and thorough. There were a couple things that I noticed afterward that I would have liked wiped down or paid more attention to, but absolutely nothing to really complain about. I mean, considering EVERYTHING else that was perfect. I mean, my bathtub shined like the top of the Chrysler Building! I will 100% use AMS again. I should preface that I've never hired a Cleaning Service before. My husband and I have a dog that sheds constantly. My husband I decided to keep the dog out of the house for most of the time she was there to ensure the dog wasn't crying, barking (while in another room) or bothering her. The woman had arrived with cleaning supplies was very friendly and greeted our dog while he went for a walk which was nice. She got straight to work and asked which room to start with. When my husband came back and the dog was home for the day she was very friendly to our dog, which again is nice. She was not bothered by him jumping up on her to say hello. I do not expect people to humor my dog. I did my best to keep him out of her way. The glass and windows look amazing. The fans and baseboards are all dusted and cleaned. The bathroom and toilets are the cleanest I've ever seen them and that includes from when we first moved into the house. All the dust and dog hair is pretty much gone. I do say pretty much because I did still notice some on carpets, but I also cannot get it all up so that wasn't a negative to me. The only negative I would mention is that the coffee table had some dust particles on it, which I imagine is from doing the fan blades right above. She must have not gone over again. read more

I wasn't going to do this review but it's really been bothering me so... For Mother's Day I told my husband all I wanted was a clean house. Not even subtly, I "hinted" I wanted a deep cleaning. He found Austin Maid Service on Yelp and scheduled a deep cleaning for our house. I was excited, my expectations were high...maybe too high. I expected baseboards to be cleaned, a/c vents cleaned, walls/doors to be wiped down, etc. None of that was done. What I got was a really good "weekly cleaning" not the deep cleaning. My husband made it a point to mention cleaning the mud room and it wasn't even touched. With that said, it wasn't all bad. My floors sparkled, there was no clutter, dishes were done, bed was made but it wasn't quite what we paid for. And it didn't seem like 4 hours worth of cleaning. A week later I was on my hands and knees cleaning the baseboards and all the other stuff I expected a deep cleaning to include. A week or two later they emailed to ask how our service went and my husband replied that we were disappointed. They emailed back an apology and asked him to call them. What??? Why do we have to call you? We already told you we were disappointed, you obviously have our number. What's stopping you from making the call? If you need a construction make-ready cleaning effort, this is NOT the company to call. Many walls and doors still had construction dust on them, no furniture was moved (even though everything was on skids to make it easy) so the new floor could be cleaned completely, blinds still had construction dust on the back edge that is the overlap when the blind was closed and wiped down (not washed). Crevices in furniture had to be pointed out to be cleaned ... but since they were ready to walk out the door, well ... it just seemed unacceptable for what we asked for and were told could be done. They brought no step stools so all surfaces above their personal height and/or any cleaning wands simply went untouched. I had to fill in personally for the work not done so the space truly was move in ready for our client. We got a typical house cleaning effort when we needed/asked for a construction make-ready effort for our client's home. It reflects poorly on our business standards as those we hire don't step up to what was agreed upon. We will not come back to Austin's Maid Service for this level of work. It's just not their business model. Their work is adequate for a typical repeat house clean team. Great phone / email customer service and always easy to use. Inconsistent cleaning quality - sometimes good, sometimes terrible. I have used Austin's Maid Service ~5 times on a monthly basis. First four of those were great - super easy, great job cleaning, and responsive to my requests ("please hand wash ice cream scoops"). Most recent was TERRIBLE - walked in to filthy, filthy tile and wood floors. Dirtier than it was before they cleaned. Damp paper towel check looks like more like the inside of a chimney than a clean floor. I had to re-clean it on hands and knees to fix it. They must have used disgusting, filthy mop water - never changing it. I emailed them just after 4pm on Friday asking for a re-clean; they had a manager to my apartment to fix what I hadn't already addressed within 24 hours, even on a weekend! read more

I'm a little disappointed in the final product. The toilets were clean, the trash bags had all been replaced - but there were still SO many areas of the floor that hadn't been swept or vacuumed. To be fair though, there are some factors I think I should mention. First of all, I've never hired a cleaning service before, at least as an adult. (My parents used to hire people growing up but who notices that kind of thing when they're little?). My point is that my expectations may not have been realistic. I also have two dogs, one of which sheds A LOT. My house may never be fully ridden of dog hair, so when I came home to find multiple dog-hair-tumbleweeds rolling across the floor - I couldn't decide if it was their fault or simply an impossible task. I'm still torn. The experience was pleasant though, I'll admit. Scheduling was easy, I got a quote very quickly, and they were available on the date I requested. I can't speak to the professionalism of the ladies that actually came to clean, though, because I asked my father to let them in while I was at work. I do know, though, that they arrived promptly at their scheduled time. They also brought their own cleaning supplies which I appreciate. In case anyone is interested: The one-time price for cleaning my 1,660 sq ft house (remember - I have two dogs) was 180.00. They took just under three hours (instead of the scheduled four), and I would give the final product about a B-. They certainly got to every room and obviously worked quickly, but didn't pay a ton of attention to detail. You can decide for yourself if its worth the money or not. I am picking two stars based on the yelp "meh...I've experienced better" rating scale. Used this service twice, I would give them a B. They clean everything but don't clean everything well. First time the cleaner did not move ANYTHING, nothing on the counters or furniture, just wiped around them. Gave them a second chance, this time a bit better, but was clearly told no furniture would be moved, and none was, not even little things, and no dusting was done underneath anything either. Most areas are easily accessible with a swifter with a long handle. If you have hardwood they use a vacumn with a sweeper on it, misses tons of dust. Would not take much longer to either be more thorough or use a broom. Definitely did not do everything on the list and did not stay 4 hours. Its a great start to cleaning but then I have to go back and do the detail work afterward. Probably won't use again unless I can't find anyone else. read more

This was one of the most unprofessional and ineffective maid services I have ever used. They sent two women out to my house to do a deep clean for three hours. The maids never went over a checklist with me before or after the cleaning. They complained the entire time they were there, to each other and on the phone. I am assuming they thought I couldn't understand when they spoke in Spanish. We paid extra to have certain areas such as the baseboards, pantry, cabinets and fridge cleaned. None of that was touched. The blinds were still covered in dog hair because one of the maids just hit the blinds a couple times and moved on. I had gone into the front bedroom while they were cleaning the kitchen so I was not in their way. I heard someone yell finished and walked out front. One of the women was already out the front and the other was mopping the entry way as she was walking out the door, closing it before I could say a word. After inspecting the house, they did the bare minimum and left before the three hours was up. We called the office and a field manager had to come back put the next day to finish the job. Almost all of them do what I would call a "hotel cleaning" (it looks nice from afar, but better not look under the bed or behind the couch etc.), but as long as that's your expectation going in, I think Austin's Maid Service does a fine a job. The issues we had have more to do with the disorganized way they run their business and just generally poor communication (and ability to resolve issues). This was aggravated by the fact that many of the cleaners do not speak English very well and we do not speak Spanish very well so a lot of the communication with our cleaners had to go through their front office. One of life's biggest mysteries is why the cleaners at Austin's Maid Service (and other services) are unable to discern trash from things we definitely do not want them to throw away. I've never worked as a cleaner before, but if I did I do not think I would ever throw away things like unopened mail, iPhone chargers, dish rags, expensive bottles of lotion etc. We do what we can to not leave anything important out, but as a precaution we always ask our cleaners to not take out the trash out when they are done. Since they also do bother to separate recycling from trash (or use a new trash bag), this means searching through last night's dinner when they leave to make sure they didn't throw away an important financial statement etc. That said, at first they would leave the trash as requested, but as time passed it required continued reminders. The final straw on this front was when they threw away an unopened credit card and took the trash out. Another really annoying thing about them was that they frequently did not come when they said they were going to. This on its own is annoying, but the final straw on this front was when they showed up early and since my wife was taking a shower and getting ready to go somewhere, they left without cleaning it. As far as I know we were never offered a refund, although I believe they did offer to clean it later (they did send someone out to talk to us about some of our other concerns, but he didn't seem very enthusiastic about doing the cleaning or really addressing any of our concerns so my wife told him not to bother). One of the primary reasons for using a cleaning service rather than an individual is you have more recourse if something goes wrong (and less liability if something goes really wrong). That said, with Austin's Maid Service I'm not sure it really means much. We do not hold them responsible for everything they break because we break stuff all of the time, but it seems a lot of kitchen/glassware broke under their watch and we never even got a "btw we just broke an expensive wine glass" not to mention an actual replacement of the item. I think most of the concerns we had could have been resolved (and most of our requests were reasonable), but they were unable/unwilling to do so. The lady we talked to in the office seemed helpful, but the guy they sent seemed more interested in defending himself and the cleaners than actually fixing our problems (so we decided to look for a new service). read more

Honestly just get nothing but compliments from people visiting my home even days after its been cleaned. This company really does deliver what they say they will. Punctual and efficient, friendly and thorough. And the best part, they are responsive. On the phone and via email Austin Maid Service has been polite, helpful and professional! I was on the phone with my husband when he got home yesterday and heard him loudly gasp as he walked into the house and saw how amazing it looked. Yasmin did a fantastic job!! Incredibly thorough and made every surface shine, even my window sills that I truly wasn't sure I would be able to ever truly rid of pollen but am happy to report are now spot free. We scheduled a move-out cleaning, since we were moving out of state and didn't have it in our schedule to do it ourselves (plus, didn't want to be exhausted before moving cross-country). Austin's Maid Service did an excellent job - the house sparkled. Our cleaners were Steven and Vanessa. Our landlord company (April Realty Services) dinged us on EVERYTHING, so we didn't get much of our deposit back. But it wasn't due to not cleaning. Unfortunately, they just found every little thing to deduct for and boy, did they. But if we still lived in Austin, I wouldn't hesitate to call Austin's Maid Service again. read more

I needed a move out clean for a rental ASAP, and Austin's Maid Service came to the rescue. I contacted multiple services and they were BY FAR the fastest to get back to me, and they were able to get me a quote and fit me in the following day for my cleaning. The cleaner showed up on time and did an absolutely fantastic job. She stayed 4+ hours until the entire house was spotless, and the price was honestly way below what I was expecting. I will definitely use them again for any move out/deep cleanings, and the if I ever need regular maintenance cleanings, they will be the first ones I call. read more

This service was used to perform house cleaning in the past. Streaks were left on the windows, residue was on the hard woods, cobwebs still in the corners, the couch is raised is on a hardwood floor and there were dust bunnies under it, same for the bd being high and on hardwood and dust under it, the bathroom tile did not appear to be washed. We cancelled the service a month and a half ago. Since then they have showed up twice to clean. The first time they pounded on the front door for a good 5 minutes, they tried the door handle, attempted to enter a code to the door. All the while I listened since I work from home. Then today just an hour ago they showed up again and I was in the living room and looked up to a woman standing on the back porch. I had the sliding glass door open and our dogs just had a fit. The back porch which you have to go through the gate, around the house, to get too. The house is completely fenced in. Scared the living "...." out of me. I'm still shook up about it. I did not know who this woman was. I called and I was told by Ariella (? not sure on the spelling of her name) that yes, there was a scheduling system error. This is the 2nd time they have showed up following being cancelled. I asked to speak to the supervisor and I was told that since they are working from home, she would tell them that I wanted to speak to them. No one has called me back yet. I highly recommend not using this service. I would tell someone I didn't like to use this service. read more
