The sessions are advertised as 30 minutes, but in reality they feel much shorter. The therapist usually spends the first 5-10 minutes letting our son play, then about 15 minutes on actual therapy, and the last 10 minutes cleaning up and wrapping up the session. When I called to ask about it, the person I spoke with said it's because insurance only allows them to bill for 15 minutes of therapy. It's frustrating to pay so much when only about 15 minutes of the appointment is actual therapy time. Overall, we were not impressed and ultimately decided to pull our son out.

He has high sensory needs and severe speech and language delays. He loves the equipment and toys at this center for OT. Some speech sessions can be challenging because he's not motivated to talk, prefer to be under the table instead, etc. Our main Speech Therapist here is Ms. Vidya, she is fantastic! She has made so much progress with my son's speech. Chris and everyone here are very knowledgeable, experienced, and professional. These sessions not only have helped my son but also helped me with being a better primary caregiver for my son. It's really just from observing what work or doesn't work with my son during sessions and by asking questions to Chris and his team. One of the things that these sessions help me with is having a better understanding of my son's physical needs and being a better problem solver. For example, I was able to practice certain things outside of sessions to help my son with like desensitizing loud sound from hair clipper/hand dryer, putting on his clothes independently, etc. Overall, we are so grateful to have MyKidsPlace in our son's life.

The last we heard from them was a voice mail saying they were still looking into it. Today we just received a letter threatening to send us to "an outside collection agency." The amount is only $60.00 and we have already wasted too much time dealing with them. It is no longer worth having further discussions. I am paying it an moving on, but my family will certainly never use them or any of their affiliated offices again.

Unfortunately my surgery was not a smashing success. I have prolonged symptoms and being treaded under Worker's Compensation which does not make it any easier.... (I ran for an AED to save someone's life and hurt my knee...) Dr. Nugyen, by a long shot -- is the most sophisticated, educated, capable, knowledgeable and compassionate PT I have ever worked with. I had quite a bit of PT in my days, -- and frankly lost belief in PT. Dr. Nugyen though, single-handedly, turned my belief into his profession around. Even though I have some significant post-op issues and may face (hopefully) a revision, - Dr. Nugyen keeps working with me with utmost diligence and patience. His knowledge base and training is superior and I could not have asked for a better PT. Though it's a busy office, the staff besides Dr. Nugyen, the office manager Katie, assistants (hope I get their designation right?) Dana and Angelica are absolutely fantastic as well. Katie is always upbeat, with a smile on her face. Capable and seemingly never stressed she welcomes any and all with a smile and handles multiple tasks with ease and grace. Dana and Angelica keep providing clients with heartfelt care, uplifting attitude and are ever so helpful. We've been going to Oceanside Therapy Group (OTG) since February 2011(when my son was 6 months old)…read moretill present. We started with just our older daughter receiving speech therapy, then both my oldest daughter and son (we have have a 7 month old too now). My son started speech at exactly a year old due to him not talking. About 6 months after that both children started receiving occupational therapy. Both my kids have seen by Shari, Tony, Meg, Courtney, Mehgan, Mara, Erin, Sara and a few others when were filling in for someone else's cancelled appointment. I did learn (quickly by Shari when we first started) that if you don't keep going consistently its NOT going to help your child. You will also be charged $50 (or at least thats what it was at the time I paid for missing 2 sessions in a row ). If you or your child isn't happy with their current OTG therapist then tell Armida or the front desk and they will try to work your child in with another therapist that may be a better fit. OTG has grown so much in the years we've been going. When we started it was a waiting room with 2 - 2 seater love seats and a 3 seater couch, a receptionist (who wrote everything in pencil in individual scheduling books) and just a few speech therapists. Now they have almost the whole downstairs of the building and moved to electronic scheduling and 4 receptionists. We've had a few scheduling mix ups and problems but thats only been because I didn't pay attention to my calendar or listen to what I was told and when my kids appointments were. We moved in April 2012 down to Rancho Bernardo and made the drive (in morning rush hour traffic) 3 times a week. After 7 months we switched offices to something closer to us in RB (let's call that place # 2) and 3 months after switching to place #2 we switched back to OTG. The staff at place # 2 was not conducive for my kids and after a few therapists it just wasn't working for us. The only downfall was loosing our spots with Shari and Tony (the most sought after therapists) but we wanted them back and were put on a 'wait list' so to speak to be back on their schedules when a spot opened up that worked for both them and us. OTG also has an annual FREE family day with burgers, hot dogs, jump houses, relay games, face paint, balloons and just plain old outdoor fun for kids. They also participate in the ACT! for Military Families Autism 5k/10k every year too - my kids love going to both events :) Josh and Rebekah (the wonders of OTG) really put their hearts and souls into their business to make sure that the families they service get what they need. At times that comes at a sacrifice to their own children and most of the families don't realize what it takes to run a pediatric therapy office of this size. We will continue our services with OTG until the kids "graduate" - when that day comes I may cry just a tad bit!

This review, however, is specifically regarding the front desk staff and my experiences over the phone. The last three times I have either been contacted by or called the office, the staff have been extremely rude and disrespectful. I scheduled an appointment for a specific time over the phone, but never received a confirmation until the day before the appointment--and when I did, the appointment time was completely different from what I had originally scheduled. I called to address the issue and was met with an extremely rude and unprofessional attitude from the staff member I spoke with. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable bringing my child to this location. If this is how parents are treated before their child even receives care, it unfortunately left me questioning what our experience would be like once we were actually patients there.
