I recently purchased a 2020 Chevy Trax from this auction as my daughter's first time vehicle, and want to share my experience so others understand what they are getting into. Shortly after leaving the auction, the odometer screen began glitching on and off and there was a noticeable whistling noise from under the hood. We took the car for Maryland safety inspection and it failed because the odometer display went completely blank. I ended up having to pay about $560 at the dealer to replace the instrument cluster just to get the car to pass inspection. In addition, I had to spend more money on a valve cover, brake pads, spark plugs, oil change, and a full interior detail because the car was filthy. We laughed at the 'Clean Inside' stickers the auction has on its cars. If you are new to this you need to understand that these cars are sold strictly as-is. The auction advertises a 24-hour return window (red flag), but it ONLY applies to very specific major failures like engine or transmission issues. It does not cover problems like electrical failures, inspection issues, or other defects that show up immediately after purchase. Also, be aware that bidding can feel questionable. We observed one individual bidding on nearly EVERY car but never actually winning, which made it feel like prices were being driven up on purpose. Important advice if you are considering this auction: -- Plan to be there most of the day and long waiting -- Know which cars you want ahead of time --Run CARFAX reports if possible before bidding -- Research common issues for the specific make and model you're considering -- Bring a mechanic who can scan for codes and inspect the car (highly important) Even with a mechanic, it is not foolproof. Ours did not find any codes at the auction, but codes popped up shortly after we left. Financial reality: The car sold for $5,500. After auction and title fees, insurance, and everything else, my total investment ended up being about $8,000--$8,200. For context, a 2020 Chevy Trax with 103K miles typically sells for around $10,000--$13,000 at a dealer, so yes, I came out below retail, but that savings came with immediate out of pocket repairs, time, stress, and uncertainty right after purchase. My advice overall: -- Expect to spend additional money after purchase -- Set aside (at least) $2,500+ for immediate repairs and other miscellaneous issues --Know (don't wonder) the car will need work --Understand their return policy is a joke and extremely limited Personally, I would not recommend this business for anyone needing a reliable, ready to drive vehicle right away. There's no protection, you cannot fully test the car, and an extremely high likelihood of immediate repairs which make it a risky experience. Please beware of this place. I was looking for a first car for my teen and decided to try here since they had the warranty. After purchase I took the car in next morning for inspection to check for engine issues or transmission problems. Lo and behold the mechanic said car looks good on outside but this car is not worth the 5k. The host of engine problems that car had that was invisible to naked eye. He printed out all details and I immediately went to return car. Upon arrival the woman who appeared to be a Latina immediately said oh we not going to cover this under warranty. Me: How can you make this assessment in a minute and reviewing three documents in under a minute and you're not a mechanic. We waited almost two hours for the lead mechanic(their words) come out and say they will not cover the return. After 20 more minutes of arguing back and forth and showing our docs and mechanical pics and threats to involve the state of MD then we get the refund. My advice to all who buy cars from here, please go next day and get car inspected and if you find engine problems go return the vehicle before 5 pm next day. I kept the vin number so I plan to follow this car and see if they sold it to someone else without the necessary repairs. I plan to report that information to the state of MD if they resold that car. Lastly, I wish I knew this beforehand if you decide to get a car and I wouldn't go with title company on their premises. Rip off with fees. Go on MVA sight and get a 24 registration for $20 bucks to drive off lot. You will need to take a portable printer with you and tape to tape to window. This place is absolutely horrible, i bought a ford focus from this place back in 2021 and about two weeks after i received a call from one of the employees claiming that i "took home the wrong car" and threatened to call the police on me essentially accusing me of stealing the car!!! when in reality the employees are so absentminded here that it turned out that the woman (she was a short, large hispanic looking woman) who was handling my paperwork copied down the incorrect VIN number... after threatening to sue the problem was suddenly fixed...... this place is shady, unprofessional and the car we bought turned out to be an absolute P.O.S. its 2023 now and i've finally gotten rid of that poor excuse of a car and just remembered this happened.. moral of the story - don't give these people your money. read more

I've dealt with this place twice. Once for me. Once for a girlfriend. When I was with the girlfriend, I noticed something I suspected the first time around. We were biding and we ended up going at it against someone one on one for a few bids before he gave up. I have every reason to believe, like the first time I came there, that a person like this is a "planted person who has a vested interest in getting the price to a more profitable margin once the crowd thins out ". Once that person jacked up that profit margin, he stopped bidding. I couldn't prove it, but that person wasn't winning any bids for the cars before hers. Yeah, it could've been a dealer wannabee. But after reading some of the reviews, it wouldn't surprise me that a planted person is jacking prices and it can always be denied. All I can say is put on your best poker face and don't let on how bad you want to keep bidding as it gets down to a one on one. The price went up $350 as we kept eyeing this guy doing this on too many cars before ours. I've seen this done the first time I was there. It's not fair, so beware. They advertise the cars are guaranteed, for 24 hours on the engine and transmission however they DO NOT honor that promise! I purchased car yesterday 5/26/21. I drove the car off the lot and it broke down within 5 miles of the business. In summary, I bought a car from this dealer with the reassurance of his advertised 24 hour guarantee of refund if engine or transmission issues were found. I couldn't take the car to a mechanic because it broke down as soon as paid and drove off the lot and was on the other side of the gate. The "manager" Victor avoided all of my calls to try to run through the 24 hour time frame however while I finally got him on the phone after 7 or more attempts to speak to a manager he refused to honor the agreement. Please take time to read this I have a lot of other things I could be doing right now and I'm writing this summary for YOUR protection. I got this GMC vehicle on August 3rd 2024 the way I understand it is that this business covers 24 hours of coverage of internal lubricated parts of the engine by 5pm If you had issues or concerns or wanted to return the vehicle that was your opportunity to have had it done the next business day after purchasing after that it's on the purchaser "AS IS". Well, this doesn't give enough time to have a mechanic look anything over to find those hidden trouble issues on any vehicle. August 4th was a Sunday they are closed, and I had the vehicle towed from my house to the mechanic shop on Monday the 5th to look it over while I had gone on vacation just to come back August 15th to find out from the mechanic that the engine light was on when he looked at the GMC. Hmm. This vehicle had Passed the State Inspection on August 1st 2024 which was stated on the Vehicle Title How did this vehicle pass State Inspection with issues I find this funny because the engine light was not on before at the Auction when I got the GMC and other findings of 4 confirmed trouble codes adding to now a concern for a blown head gasket from that tests that the mechanic had done advising that there were exhaust gases in the coolant system. I reached out today August 16th, 2024, out to this number 410-469-1112 because it said call or text if I had any questions, So I texted them with my concern. Here's their response: "Hello *******, We are pleased that you were able to come out and purchase at out auto auction. Keep in mind per #4 on the registration form~ they do cover the internal lubricated parts of the engine and transmission until the following business day before 5pm. If you have any questions about this, please call the office at 410-272-6644 (Now their Office number)."(Word for Word). Then the Auto Auction of Baltimore had the nerve to send me a text saying $50 Free Cash!! That they Appreciated my business and If I have any relatives or friends in the market for a new vehicle that I would receive $50 for the referral. They didn't address my main concern with this LEMON VEHICLE that I now can't drive because of an engine that I can't afford to have replaced It's sitting at a mechanic shop, and it was advised to me that it was not recommended to drive this vehicle at this time until I fixed these engine issues What's next Transmission issues? The Fault is mine for going this route to try to save money. It wasn't worth it Now I'm Stuck with an Undriveable Vehicle. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! you will not find a car that does not have a significant issue at this auction. I bought a Ford focus from them that had a terrible engine problem although they say that their engines are guaranteed. They make you call and leave a voicemail within 24 hours of you purchasing so we did, took it in and they don't even check to see if you left a voicemail or not so that just goes to show you how loose and selective their "warranty policy" is. Customer service was completely different when they realized we weren't there to buy a car and we were actually there to confront them about the cheap cars they are selling. Had us wait for hours with no sort of update or anything and then one of the mechanics came out and told me they tied one of my spark plugs together? I don't think that's possible. The issue never went away. Not to mention the car I had - had absolutely no seatbelt, the stereo did not work, the air conditioning did not work, it needed an oil change, it was a complete lemon. For the price I paid for that (5grand) plus with all of the fees I could've just went to a dealership. They prey on the fact that people don't have as much money nowadays or cars are just more expensive, but they are literally selling you lemons. and then leaving you hanging once you realize that they are. Buying here is not worth it. Bought a car at the auction. Not so bad until I drove it off. It sounded terrible on the road, didn't take corners well, and generally it felt very unsafe. Engine had sounded fine, so I couldn't tell until I drove it. They only warranty the engine and transmission until 5 pm the next day. That's not even 24 hours. What a SCAM! Be prepared to spend a lot of time doing paperwork and going through multiple lines for registration, purchase, title, registration, and bring license plate screws or they will charge you $5 for a set of the cheapest screws available. I needed to go home to get a second driver. Only option was to park in a tiny spot in front of the lot. When I returned, I was blocked in with no way of knowing how to get my car out. Wow!! After reading some of the other reviews, I was Blessed. Mine is kind of an unusual story, as I did not set out to either, go to an auction, nor, buy a vehicle on that day, 4 months ago. I was on 95 headed home from down south, and I had my GPS on for traffic alerts etc. The tragic was flowing smooth, when all of a sudden, my GPS(waze) redirected me telling me to take the upcoming exit. Why?? No traffic, straight shot on 95 back to Philly. I had a choice to make, so I took the exit. At the top of the ramp was a stop sign, so I made a left and not even a hundred feet after making the turn, I saw an auction as I was driving by. There was no traffic on the road, so, I backed up and drove into the auction lot. Apprehensive, I drove slowly, and I saw where other cars were parked &I parked. I was interested in what was going on. Mind you, I'd never been to an auction before. I parked, and saw some other people heading that way, so I went into this building that had all of their doors open, and there were plenty of people in attendance. The first car came out, people bidded, and when it was won, they clapped. I was still standing there kind of in wonderment, like, why am I here? For Real. The second car came out, the same scenario. Then, the third car came out, and it caught my attention immediately. The guy started talking about the car, unlike the other two he had done ankle I was there. This was different, this car, he said, brand new, runs for $70,000. (Actually, brand new, $53,000), so, anyway he started the bidding, and 2 people bidder, then, all of a sudden, my hand went up. I'm dead serious, I was shocked, then someone else bidded, which gave me a wave of relief, then he called put another number, and my hand went up. (sidebar.lol now, I say my hand went up like that, because I had nothing to do with it, my hand was on some involuntary thing of its own accord. Lmao The announcer didn't see me as he was looking across the room, so he started saying, "going once, going twice...when someone pointed him towards me, and it was sold. (Wtf??!!) I jus bought a vehicle?!! I'm driving, by myself, and I'm like a little over two hours away from home. So, the people were clapping, and the announcer Alex for my registration and I had a blank stare on my face, like, what registration? I told him that I had just walked in off the street. So, he had me fill out the paperwork etc etc Ok, so, I paid for the vehicle, a Volvo, which, from others who came up to me saying, they wished they had gotten it. I got my keys and I opened the door, because up to now, I haven't seen this vehicle before. I started it up, and it was quiet, real smooth. Then I noticed a message came on the dashboard about some kind of Failure. Ohhhhh Sh!T!! But, the vehicle was still running quiet. Another guy and his wife saw me and the husband said they'd had Volvo's, and how the message might be something minor, so I was a little more at ease. Dilemma, this was Saturday, and 24 hours would be Monday at 5pm. I wanted the vehicle to be checked. I called Volvo dealerships, mechanic shops and no one could see me. I drove home and came back for the Volvo the next day. I got the tags, registration and plates the day before. I had just drove away from the outside of the lot, headed to a gas station not even 5 minutes away. I turned the car off. After fueling, the car wouldn't start. Oh Sh!t!! Fortunately I had jumper cables, jumped it, and it started up, and made the complete drove to Philly. . Monday, I got the car in my mechanic's shop, and he told me that he would have to do some deep diagnostic work, because the computer was disconnected. Wth??!! Dilemma, today is Monday, he still needs to dig in, and it's a 2 hour drive back to MD. I went through all the details because other reviews said their vehicles were completely faulty, and that seemed to be a general consensus. There is some shady stuff going on there, because, why was the computer "Purposely" disconnected. What they were trying to hide is the fact that there were Power Failure codes in the computer, and those guys couldn't figure it out, soc they disconnected the computer. That way, no return. They return for engine and transmission, and if it can't be diagnosed and seem within 24 hours, it's a win for them. I mentioned earlier that I was Blessed, well, as it turned out, was a simple fix. It cost me $1500 for the labor and parts altogether, but, in the end, I got a great vehicle unbeknownst to them. With that said, LET THE BUYER BEWARE! By the hand print size small. It turned out to be dried blood. A lot of blood in the front passenger side along with a larger amount in the rear seat. Don't purchase there cars. Understanding that we were taking a risk we bought a car at the Auto Auction of Baltimore. Checked out the Carfax and looked the vehicle over (not well enough apparently). When we took it to our mechanic for its Maryland State inspection we were informed that it had a lot of issues that needed repair. Okay. However, it seems as though someone gutted out the catalytic converter and disabled the sensors so no one would know. When we informed the Auto Auction of Baltimore they responded that it was an AS-IS sale. Too bad. Do you think that someone at the Auction removed the catalytic converter for the Platinum that was inside or covered up the fact that the converter was non-operational? At the very least, they would have known and should have fixed it since that is a major and legal issue. We are stuck with a car that shouldn't have been sold. Be careful. Buyers remorse I bought a 2005 Nissan Altima yesterday, and I have the worst case of buyers remorse ever. The car doesn't seem safe enough to be on the road. While driving home, I felt like I would lose control of the car just going over the slightest bump in the road. Check engine light on, car jerks, back door doesn't open, part of the moon roof is missing and the glass won't close all the way, no ac, the car smell really bad, tire are bald, the entire car is grimy and nasty, and it is extremely loud, etc. Everyone in my cul-de-sac could hear me come home. I am in no way trying to dissuade people from buying a car from Baltimore Auto Auction, the staff was extremely friendly, the auctioneer was really funny and very charismatic, and really, at the end of the day they are in the business of making money. I just want to give a few tips so that you don't waste your money like I did: 1. Come early enough to look over the cars. Once you're in the bidding area its a little dark and the acoustics mask troubling car sounds. 2. Make sure it's the car you want, once the bid is accepted, all sales are final! 3. Be sure it's good deal, $1600 may sound like a good deal, but when you add auction fees. $1600+400= $2000, is it still a good buy? Check kbb.com first. The car I brought is so bad, I would have easily forfeited the $300 deposit if I didn't think they would have came after me for the rest of the money. I've purchased two vehicles there for my sons, one apiece. A 2011 Jetta fully loaded for $1600, and a 2009 Mitsu Mirage for $2000. Spent less than $1000 for both to pass MD inspection standards. Both cars had around 150K miles apiece. No significant issues with either vehicle. The Jetta has been driven to and from South Carolina on numerous occasions. The Mirage has been on the road for over a year, again, with no significant issues. I'd recommend buyers conduct their due diligence on a car from there, or any used car for that matter. Regardless of the seller (private or dealer). Heck, lemons are sometimes purchased brand new from dealers. If you are not mechanically inclined, hire a mechanic to check it out with you before you place your bid. Good luck to anyone going there, and hopefully, I don't eat my words. read more

I purchased 2 SUVs from Baltimore Auto Auction. The first problem I had was the infinity truck had mileage tampering. Did a quick vin check and repair records show totally different mileage from what the Auction states. They denied it was inaccurate initially but refunded the money back to me after I sent a copy of records on that vehicle with the actual mileage to them. Which they should have known if they verified their vehicles. An unnecessary hastle and an almost total loss of $4000. The Hustle is real. Don't trust this dealer. Verify everything. Second SUV has charges under other fees that don't add up unless they're made up. 3% credit card fee should be the only fee that is in addition to bid and buyer total. They are making up reasons for the charges. Three different ways. Check your numbers and records if you've been here. If you plan to go here and don't pay attention or add to well. Don't go there. They trust that you are going to trust them. They ignore what is right. They know certain races of people make purchases ignorantly and blindly. Consumers purchase in good faith believing businesses have too much money to want to steal from them. That would be wrong. A dollar from a thousand people is a thousand dollars so if everyone has extra fees that tally up over the years they've been open. The monetary increase is worth them taking advantage of you to them. Check your records. Use a calculator to see if you were overcharged. read more

I implore everyone to avoid this place at all costs! Bought Ford Explorer on 5/5. Transmission stalled before I even left the lot. I was told to leave car there & call 2 days later to speak w/manager about putting cost of Ford towards another car. Mgr agreed. Returned on 5/9, bid & won a 2nd car (Acura MDX). Car also had trans. issues so never left the lot. Showed me another car (BMW 525i) that had "good engine & transmission" written on window (also says it on the bill of sale), and auctioneer says all cars are checked & guaranteed good engine/transmission, but you can bring it back in 24 hours if any problems. Had to leave car & keys on lot due to a paperwork snafu that had to be corrected at MVA. Went to pick up car with mechanic friend on 5/26. Mechanic wants to hike the car up and peak under it because he notices the ATF fluid well is DRY and suspects that'll affect the transmission. Staff tells us that 1) we are NOT allowed to do that on the lot; 2) we're reminded that's what the 24 hour guarantee is for - we can just bring it back if the transmission or engine is bad, and; 3) we're informed the auction & its gates are closing in the next 30 mins so we need to essentially get our car and go. We get in the car and start driving to shop for inspection. Shop is ~70 miles away (~1.5 hour drive). 45 mins into the drive, the check engine light starts blinking, and the transmission begins slipping out of gear. We pull over, cut it off for about 10-15 mins while mechanic looks at it some more. We start it back up and begin driving - it seems fine. We keep driving. Less than 1.5 miles from the shop, the Check Engine light comes BACK on and the car slows down and will not go above 10 mph - it's in "limp mode." By time we hit shop parking lot, the dash says "transmission fail safe prog." & car will not go into any gear except reverse. We get it on the lift & pull diagnostic codes, check under it, pull a pan off the bottom, etc. - the transmission is SHOT. Had BEEN shot. Mechanic insists the auction had to know the Check Engine light was on and the transmission was shot, but thinks they cleared the diagnostic codes before selling it at the auction, which would make the Check Engine light and the "transmission fail-safe" warning turn off temporarily, but come back on within 50-100 miles of driving it. We've only had this car for 3 hours at this point. I get in touch with someone at auction on 5/29. (Auction closed early on 5/26, and was closed on 5/27 & 5/28). I say I need to bring a car back because the trans. doesn't work. She asks: "when did you get the car?" Me: "this past Saturday." Her: "unfortunately, its nothing we can do about it. You only have 24 hours to return it. Sorry about the inconvenience" and hangs up phone. I call back w/a call recorder on, ask for the mgr (Victor) & explain. He says "well, unfortunately, you only have 24 hours to return it". I remind him they were closed. His reply: "well, the 24 hours actually starts when you PURCHASE the car, not when you get it off the lot." That's not what we were told & when we had the same issue with the Ford initially, they told us to just leave the car & keys in the lot & call back in 2 days and it was fine. I let him know that when we tried to inspect the car ON THE LOT, another auction staff told us we couldn't AND reminded us of the 24 hours guarantee. He seems unconcerned. I remind him the auction had the car & keys the entire time, AND that the car was guaranteed to have a good engine & transmission as it written on the window. Him: "all the cars say that. It doesn't actually mean that the engine or transmission is good - we don't actually check." So, he's admitting to false advertising & purposely deceiving buyers. He suggests I get 2nd opinion & says a mechanic can clear the codes to get it out of limp-mode (bet he'd know that, because that's what they did before auctioning that car). He THEN tells me to see if the shop can get the car working enough for us to take it to a competitor (Bel Air Auto Auction), and I could probably sell the car through that auction and make my money back. To reiterate: The MANAGER LITERALLY suggested I take the car to their competitor and scam another company & unsuspecting buyer out of their money. UNBELIEVABLE. I'm so glad I recorded that call to dispute the purchase via my credit card. This auction sells lemons. Reading reviews all over the internet now and it's clear that I am not anywhere close to the first or the last with these issues. They know those cars have bad engines & transmissions, yet they STILL write that both components are good on the car windows, and on the bills of sale, and they even say it during the auction as they bring the cars through. Furthermore, to have the manager suggest that I clear the car's OBD II system just enough to be able to scam another auction & buyer out of their money is preposterous, unethical, and clearly an indication of how they do business. read more

this place deserves a zero rating!!! all zeros!!!donot buy a car or nothing at all from this place!! the staff is very ignorant and they donot give a damn about us as consumers. my 18yr old who works hard everyday for a paycheck; purchased her very first vehicle from this place trusting that she was buying a reliable vehicle until she could do better. well under a week's timeframe she started having transmission issues. we called spoke with a ignorant so called manager named vicky who consistently told us that it's nothing they can do!! she has no care or consideration for the customers. well lord & behold my daughter just recently received a recall notice stating that she needs to bring in her car because the car has a transmission issue that needs to be fixed. we called baltimore auto auction once more showing proof that they sold my daughter a car with transmission issues and they still told us they're not able to help us (ignorant vicky). please help get this place shut down immediately!!! i have contacted higher authorities about this lemon car selling place!!! read more

this is by the far the most good or great auction they sell nothing but lemon cars and give you a 24 hour return policy I would never ever refer anyone there brought an acura on a Saturday and that Monday the car began to run hot and then smoke on the way to get tags and insurance the fuckin head gasket blew the women who answer the phone at the auction are the worst I called Monday to try to get answers to see what to do and they could not assist I asked for the manager and the owner name they wasn't available I asked what should I do she could not give me a answer I asked if I can have the car towed back to them she placed me on hold and never returned I then called again on Tuesday and the manager claim they tracked a called log never seen a called from my number a bunch of bullshit this place is horrible. A whole fucking 2000 dollars gone down the drain the manager recommend a mechanic and the mechanic was very honest and stated he so sorry that they sell bad cars to ppl.. read more
