My husband called separately to get things sorted out and she was equally as rude to him. I guess having a car potentially getting towed to you to fix is incredibly annoying.

The car had a sagging headliner that was not disclosed in the ad and so the dealer agreed to replace it under warranty. The stipulation was that I had to take it to a body repair shop in Freeport (we'll call them Gerbil Glass & Collision) and the quote for the repair must be submitted by the end of the initial warranty period (which was end of January). After much hemming and hawing from Gerbil it was now in the middle of January, and they still had not submitted the quote to the warranty company. I called the warranty company voicing my concern with Gerbil and they finally recommended Caliber Collision. Caliber got me in right away and handled everything with the warranty company. They kept me in constant communication with texts, emails, and had a weblink that showed the progress of my car while it was being repaired. They did excellent, quick work and the headliner looks like it came straight from the factory, better even!

Possibly you've rear-ended a police car on an icy day. After a giant snow fall you tried backing out of your driveway onto a snow covered street only to back into a parked car. I'm not saying we've done any (all) of these things, but I'm just saying in case this happens, where do you take your vehicle to get it repaired? Auto Rehab Crash 1 has done a great job on the three vehicles I've taken to them. You can't see any of the damage that was done when they are finished. Every time I've called, they have been polite and courteous. They have worked with my schedule. If I have to leave a message they respond quickly. The best part is that they do back their work too. Two days before Christmas '10, I backed into a neighbor's car. My Silverado's bumper and bed was damaged. I scheduled the repairs at Crash 1 and with in a couple of days of dropping it off, my truck was restored to like new condition. You couldn't see any damage at all. Flash forward to a couple of weeks ago. The pad on the bumper started coming off, I took it back to them and with out any questions or excuses they made the arrangements to fix it with no additional charge to me. I dropped it off this morning at 8:00 AM and was able to pick it up at lunch time. Everything looked good. They told me that if the same thing should happen again, bring it back and they will replace the entire bumper. I know some people will think "They should have fixed it right the first time." I think they did, I believe that the pad they used came off the old bumper per the insurance company and it had been damaged in a way that neither saw until the temperatures were in the upper 90s and it warped. Things happen, and they took care of it. Whether it was their mistake or uncontrollable circumstances, they made it right.

Despite making numerous…read morecalls to follow up, I was repeatedly left chasing for answers and received no meaningful communication. An estimate is one of the most basic parts of the process, yet this company couldn't manage to provide one in a reasonable timeframe. After wasting enough of my time, I finally told them not to bother with the quote at all. The lack of urgency, poor customer service, and complete failure to communicate made it clear that this is not a business I would trust with any repair work. If they can't handle a straightforward estimate, I have serious concerns about how they handle actual customers and repairs.

Before I went there I had gotten an estimate from an independent shop for $250....this place the clerk came out and they took pictures and no tech actually came out to look at it. I told them I had a $1000 deductible so did t want to claim it under insurance. They told me they it would be $1825 since they would have to take the bumper off and light tail lights off and then have somebody recalibrate the sensors and paint was very expensive. The paint and hour times were ridiculous. I owned a mechanic shop but not a paint and body shop but know when I am taken. $380 in paint and 25 hours of labor? I can't believe they handed me the estimate with a straight face.

We decided to test out another local shop through insurance and when I originally took my car in for review, they questioned how a dent had happened as it wasn't where the main issues were located. Told them and all was good. Left, made an appointment and took it in when we arranged - was told they needed it minimum of 5 days so that pushed the date back twice due to holiday and having prior plans. They worked well around my schedule which was super helpful. They called my mother at one point to ask again how X happened and she explained and they said something along the lines of "okay. We have a great relationship with Statefarm so we just don't want to ruin that". Sounds to me like I was assumed to be lying... For no reason. Kind of rude, but moving on. Later, I received a call on the 4th day (Thursday) around 11am stating that my car was done and was ready to be picked up. Cool but very annoying as I work Downtown in Chicago so I can't just hop in my rental and head 2 hours to the shop to get it. Then I ask if I can just get it the following day and they followed back with that they are actually CLOSING THE SHOP due to heat and we HAD to pick it up by end of day. This was the first red flag I should've noticed but dismissed. As noted previously, they said minimum of 5 days.... this was day 4. Never was I notified prior to 11am on Thursday that they were close to being done or that they were even closing shop the following day. I had to have my parents go pick it up as Chicago traffic is a nightmare. They went to get it and this is where I get really upset with this shop. My parents go in to get it, are told to pay without checking it out first and so they paid. Then they were sent over to the car to get it and leave. My dad went around and looked at it all and brought up the fact that it was not done correctly and that he will not accept it as it is. They had the audacity to be upset with him for speaking up and refusing it and had an attitude with him. Of all people, my dad? You're ridiculous. He pointed out what was wrong and they stated that he needed to take it and I would have to bring it back the following Monday because "they didn't want it in their shop over the weekend." Sly but no, you can't be let off that easily. If I were there, they would've taken advantage of the oblivion that I would've had and I would've left with a car not fixed properly and an angry father. They ended up calling I believe on the following Tuesday saying it was done so I had my dad go check it out again for verification and he accepted it this time though it wasn't fully how it should've been repaired. All has been good up until the last week when I hit a raccoon and what do you know..... the poor job that they did, was showing like no other. Paint was chipping everywhere, not adhering to the bumper and missing pieces/latches from a supposed "new bumper". Took it back to my actual auto shop and he knew instantly that I took it elsewhere prior and questioned if I did so. I told him I did and he pointed out exactly what I had previously said. The work they did to my front bumper was done very poorly and in a rush. Now I'm replacing it once again and I will NEVER return to this establishment. Take your time on your work, learn how to effectively communicate with paying customers, treat ALL customers with respect and own up to your own mistakes. Shame on you for speaking down to my dad and being shady about your poor work.
