The car had a sagging headliner that was not disclosed in the ad and so the dealer agreed to replace it under warranty. The stipulation was that I had to take it to a body repair shop in Freeport (we'll call them Gerbil Glass & Collision) and the quote for the repair must be submitted by the end of the initial warranty period (which was end of January). After much hemming and hawing from Gerbil it was now in the middle of January, and they still had not submitted the quote to the warranty company. I called the warranty company voicing my concern with Gerbil and they finally recommended Caliber Collision. Caliber got me in right away and handled everything with the warranty company. They kept me in constant communication with texts, emails, and had a weblink that showed the progress of my car while it was being repaired. They did excellent, quick work and the headliner looks like it came straight from the factory, better even!

Possibly you've rear-ended a police car on an icy day. After a giant snow fall you tried backing out of your driveway onto a snow covered street only to back into a parked car. I'm not saying we've done any (all) of these things, but I'm just saying in case this happens, where do you take your vehicle to get it repaired? Auto Rehab Crash 1 has done a great job on the three vehicles I've taken to them. You can't see any of the damage that was done when they are finished. Every time I've called, they have been polite and courteous. They have worked with my schedule. If I have to leave a message they respond quickly. The best part is that they do back their work too. Two days before Christmas '10, I backed into a neighbor's car. My Silverado's bumper and bed was damaged. I scheduled the repairs at Crash 1 and with in a couple of days of dropping it off, my truck was restored to like new condition. You couldn't see any damage at all. Flash forward to a couple of weeks ago. The pad on the bumper started coming off, I took it back to them and with out any questions or excuses they made the arrangements to fix it with no additional charge to me. I dropped it off this morning at 8:00 AM and was able to pick it up at lunch time. Everything looked good. They told me that if the same thing should happen again, bring it back and they will replace the entire bumper. I know some people will think "They should have fixed it right the first time." I think they did, I believe that the pad they used came off the old bumper per the insurance company and it had been damaged in a way that neither saw until the temperatures were in the upper 90s and it warped. Things happen, and they took care of it. Whether it was their mistake or uncontrollable circumstances, they made it right.

An estimate is one of the most basic parts of the process, yet this company couldn't manage to provide one in a reasonable timeframe. After wasting enough of my time, I finally told them not to bother with the quote at all. The lack of urgency, poor customer service, and complete failure to communicate made it clear that this is not a business I would trust with any repair work. If they can't handle a straightforward estimate, I have serious concerns about how they handle actual customers and repairs.

Before I went there I had gotten an estimate from an independent shop for $250....this place the clerk came out and they took pictures and no tech actually came out to look at it. I told them I had a $1000 deductible so did t want to claim it under insurance. They told me they it would be $1825 since they would have to take the bumper off and light tail lights off and then have somebody recalibrate the sensors and paint was very expensive. The paint and hour times were ridiculous. I owned a mechanic shop but not a paint and body shop but know when I am taken. $380 in paint and 25 hours of labor? I can't believe they handed me the estimate with a straight face.
