My Lexus ES350 started making loud squealing noises while being driven during our vacation in North Conway. You never want to have car problems, and especially not when you're 9 hours from home just ahead of a long weekend. We were fortunate to have found Auto Care Plus in Conway. While other repair shops we researched online turned away our business, we were greeted with open arms by Billie Jo and Sherry at the front desk, who immediately arranged for auto technician Chris to look at our problem. Chris sat in the car, drove for 5 feet (that's all that was needed to hear the noises), and said the we either had a brake problem or there were stones inside the wheel area. He took the car into the shop and reappeared with it 10 minutes later. "Stones. You're good to go". We're we ever relieved! "What do we owe you, Chris?". "Nothing. Have a great long weekend ". We could not have been happier with how we were treated during our visit, and we feel really good about recommending the people that treated us so well. read more

On a family trip to the White Mountains, I accidentally ran into a tree on a Sunday. The car was drivable, but I was concerned about getting safely back to our home south of Boston. By mid-day Monday Anne and her team at Auto Care Plus in Conway had examined our car and told me that the body work was beyond their local capability, but with some duct tape to hold the hood down, I was able to safely drive back home to get the needed repairs. This was hands down the WORST experience we've EVER had with any mechanic. We brought a vehicle to them and paid $ 3000 to get it fixed. Two days after we brought it home, it DIED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. They then had the NERVE to charge us another $ 1700 to fix something that was not previously broken. We ended up taking it to a different mechanic, who showed us that the work they claimed to have done was never actually done. They left the truck a complete mess inside and out. THEN, to make up for that, they offered a free consultation on another vehicle and said it would cost almost $ 10,000 to fix my car. I just picked up my car from that other mechanic, and I spent $ 300 to fix it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE THIEVES. I would give them zero stars if I could. read more

While the guys at the desk are nice and try to make up for the errors on the part of the mechanics, we won't return. We have 2 cars that we took here: one with a rear wiper motor that needed to be replaced. They replaced it, it worked for 20 seconds, then it stopped working before we were even a mile away. They "fixed" it again; this time, it worked through one rain storm before it failed. After $800 invested, we've decided to live without the rear wiper. But Autocare did give us a free headlight buff (which took 3 visits to get done because the buffer broke), for our trouble, which was nice. The second car had an issue with the fan for the heat/a/c. They "fixed" that one with a "repair" that lasted 18 months. We took it to a different mechanic when it started wheezing like a belt that was about to snap, just like the first time. The new mechanic explained that whomever had "repaired" the fan previously didn't put it back into its cage properly, and basically took a bandaid type repair to the fan. Because it wasn't in the cage properly (which apparently requires a special tool, but it looked like Autocare jammed it in with screwdrivers), the fan got jostled and broke, and it was much more likely to break since it wasn't repaired properly the first time So now, we've paid Autocare $2,000 and have one car that's the same as when we started (but with brighter headlights) and the second that we just paid $1200 to another place to fix the repair that we'd already paid $1,000 to fix. read more

My husband and I must do a big SHOUT OUT to Sherry, Billie Jo and Chris for saving us! After a 4 hour drive, we check in at our hotel. We planned on heading to explore and somehow picked a large piece of metal in our tire at the hotel. Wont go into all the crazy things that then happend.. flat, calling AAA, changed tire and its was getting late! We called the Auto Care Plus to see if they would stay open and help plug a tire. "Of course, come on in. We can do that for you!!" Once we got there, all 3 of them were amazing! Great conversation, excellent customer service and fixed our tire. I called to get my tires aligned because I felt some shaking after having my winter tires put on. They called me back basically telling me my car is totaled. (Broken steering rack, broken steering piston, oil leak, broken lights, engine maintence) they told me it was going to cost 2k. I was skeptical and went to a&a auto. My tires just need to be aligned LIKE I HAD SAID IN THE FIRST PLACE and it was 90 bucks (I'm a newly 18 year old female) and they clearly took advantage of that. I was on vacation in the area when my car's check engine light appeared and the and ABS brakes started coming on automatically while I was accelerating (scary!). It was late on a Saturday and I saw the great reviews so decided to give Auto Care Plus a try. Jake was fantastic - he was very honest, explained clearly and showed everything in detail, gave us a loaner for the weekend until they could look at it Monday, and didn't try to up sell anything. Their system of texting updates and a report with pictures is great too. I previously had a very bad experience with my local dealer (who actually damaged my car) and was very grateful for the excellent service at Auto Care Plus. As a local I'm reluctant to write a cautionary review of any business in the valley...DO NOT GO HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. Whomever owns this business ought to be ashamed of themselves. I hope this review will save someone from being ripped off. My wife and I scheduled routine oil changes and inspections for the state months back. They printed out an official-looking 5 page packet with itemized, completely bogus recommended repairs for each car. What was a $100-$200 trip turned into the clerk telling my wife $3400 had to be put into her car and mine $850??? These were blatant lies - and they know it. They tried the old scare tactic. I didn't know so many repairs could even exist to take up that many pages! Our cars are newer, regularly maintained, quality vehicles. Passed inspections with flying colors. Can't help but feel profiled for our age, cars we drive, or whatever else they might try and take advantage of you for. If you aren't a car person, don't go here. For anyone curious, my wife's repairs were done 6 months later for under $1k at a family owned shop. read more

Auto Care Plus Damaged my vehicle and refused to take responsibility for the damage. On September 29th I dropped off my 2017 Ford F-350 at Auto Care Plus in North Conway NH to have new tires installed. I was told the installation would take up to four hours as they had a new tire machine that they were learning how to use. 3 1/2 hours later I arrived to pick up my vehicle. Upon receiving my vehicle, I noticed tire-lubricant smeared on my wheels and what I thought was black rubber around the edge of the rim. After getting home and getting a closer at the wheels, it was evident that the chrome plating and clear coat had been gouged around the edge of all four wheels. I called Auto Care Plus and explained the situation. They asked me to come back. When I arrived the foreman and the sales associate came out to look. They agreed that they were damaged and were not in that condition when the vehicle was brought in. I was told that they would be in contact. I received a call the next day asking me to come in the following Tuesday so the general manager could take a look. I returned on October 4th to meet the general manager, Jeff Rol. He looked at the wheels and agreed that they were damaged. He took me to the garage, showed me the tire installation machine and my old tires. There were pieces of chrome visible both on my old tires and the floor around the machine. Jeff went on to tell me that the wheels must have been damaged before I came in as his machine wouldn't do this. He also claimed that this was a known problem with Ford wheels. Neither of those excuses are true. The wheels were immaculate prior to coming to that shop. No rust, no plating issues, no scratches. This is not normal wear and tear. These were damaged either by negligence or inexperience. Jeff Rol told us he would look into this and call at the end of the week. No call was ever received. I called him on October 11th. He said that he called me and left a message but it must have been the wrong number. He went on to tell me that this was a known problem and wouldn't be able to do anything for me. We then ended the call. There is a reasonable expectation work will be performed in a good and workmanlike manner. The quality of work should be performed by one who has the knowledge, training or experience necessary for the successful practice of a trade or occupation and performed in a manner that is generally considered proficient by those capable of judging such work. Furthermore, a reasonable person doing this sort of work would have immediately stopped as soon as they noticed any damage being caused, notified a supervisor, and called the customer. Instead, they continued with the job and damaged all four wheels. read more

I was a loyal customer to this place since 2014, it's really sad to see how bad this place has gone in just a short few years. Back when Jake was manager, he took care of his customers. Unfortunately it doesn't seem as if this company cares about the customers over the $$ these days. As time goes on it seems as if they take their sweet time to do literally anything. They also like to say some things need to be done when they were JUST done or don't need it. Like I said, this is very unfortunate because this company used to be wonderful. After my boyfriend's appointment today for inspection. I don't think I would be returning to this establishment again. I understand they just got slammed for faulty inspections in the past His vehicle failed due to a small rust spot under the size of a quarter. He fixed it and brought it back in to re-inspect it just to tell him he needs new wipers now and a light replacement on an aftermarket grill. They never mentioned that when telling him the only thing needed was the rust spot being fixed. All the receptionist said was "oh our mechanics are diligent in their work so it must of failed some point from last inspection until now. It's been driven under 20 miles and kept in the garage and fixed in that same garage since then, so I'm not sure how the wipers NOW needed fixing. The car is finally inspected but it took them a total of 7 hours to finish inspecting the vehicle. Johnson's down the road is a bit more pricy but I promise you will get better service there now unfortunately. read more

Driving one day (a few months ago) and my steering went out. Called around and everywhere had at least a week wait to get in. Called here and they told me to bring it right down and they'd take a look at it. They called me back the next day with pages and pages of supposed work my car needed done. I'm talking almost $7,000 worth of work. I have a multi point inspection done every time I get an oil change, so I knew they were trying to screw me over. I should've known it was a bad decision to take my car there as soon as they said there was no wait to get in. Never again will I step foot in this place. They're scammers and should be shut down. They also sent me an email telling me to give feedback about my experience. Well here it is. I'll be sure to tell everyone to avoid this place at all costs. read more

I made an appointment on line to get my snow tires put on an have my brakes inspected. When you do that you are asked if you will be leaving the vehicle, waiting or need a loaner or ride. I indicated I would wait since I know it's not a long job (never has been at my old shop-closed when the owner retired). The appointment was confirmed within minutes. When I arrived (11am) I was told it would be ready at the end of the day. Explaining that I said I was going to wait in my online request and had no way home the guy at the counter was not only unapologetic but rather sparky saying something about it being a really long wait. Ya think? He suggested I reschedule, which I did and have no plan on keeping the appointment. From their lot I called another local shop who explained I could get in in 2 weeks and if I could leave it for the day it would be helpful. If the person confirming my online appointment had simply told me I couldn't wait I would have simply changed my appointment. That would have been basic customer service. This was the 2nd and final chance for this place. They've lost my husband's registration and mansplained wheel locks to me as I told them my car didn't have them. I see a lot of non locals giving this place high marks. Maybe that's who they want as customers. This local is going to a owner run garage not a poorly run chain shop. read more

I heard a grinding noise and brought my car in assuming it was likely the brakes. Tony and Dillon were the only staff in that day. The estimate came to over $3500 to replace the front and back break pads and rotors, left and right ball joints, the drive axle, air filter, and oil change. I was told the car was unsafe to drive and if I didn't get the work done the car would need to be towed. I refused to get the work done, had to pay $40 for them looking at the car and signed something acknowledging the car was unsafe to be able to drive it away. I told a friend what happened and that I couldn't understand the extent of damage they found as I had just had the car inspected a month ago. She suggested bringing it to her trusted mechanic for a second opinion. Results: needed new back brakes, a caliper, an air filter, and oil change--$510. The second mechanic told me that the front brakes were practically new! This place is criminal! I plan to report to the Better Business Bureau. read more

Mount Washington Valley Area is extremely fortunate to have such a great auto repair shop with stellar service!! I have a 2007 Volvo XC70 which broke down on way home in western Maine. It was towed to Auto Care Plus for a complete diagnostic test, since it had some electrical issues. I was given a loaner car until the problem was solved and Paul, the District Manager for the group of four other area locations, personally addressed my problem. He truly gave 110% in getting to the source of my car's quirk and was not satisfied until he was satisfied with the outcome and made sure I was at ease!!! RARE!!! Unbelievable..... I would recommend Auto Care Plus in Conway, NH to anyone without reservation!!!!! read more

It's difficult to find an auto mechanic who you can trust completely to give you both a fair price and quality service - Importech is AMAZING. I've been taking my car to them for years and they always give me fast, reliable, and affordable service. Jason has saved me from a number of disasters, and he always manages to get me in ASAP even without an appointment. Not only that, but their waiting lounge is clean and comfortable, and they provide you with a loaner car for the more labor-intensive jobs. I recently moved to Philadelphia, and I plan to make the 8 hour drive back to Importech next time my car needs a check up. read more

These are some great mechanics and "car guys" who really seem to enjoy what they do. When my '96 VDub broke down on vacation, I remembered passing this place on Route 16 and decided to have it towed there. The car was in good company, surround by other near-classic Euros from the 80s - 90s. Sweet! Joe and crew kept me updated and were very flexible about pick-up arrangements. They had the problems diagnosed in no time flat, and did not bother me with "other services that I probably should have done." They are willing to use customer-sourced parts (for a higher hourly rate, I believe). Two thumbs up! read more

They advertise honesty, reliability and good customer service. This is the most in-your-face disreputable garage I have ever been to! They overcharge, WAY overcharge, tell you things need to be replaced that don't, lie to your face when asked for a VIR saying the state computers are down when they're not, damage parts on your car and don't tell you (and you find out a short time later that a knob to release the hood of your car is missing). I have been to AutoCarePlus in Conway NH SEVERAL times to say the least in the past 3 or 4 months. I have a 2007 Honda Pilot that I was taking elsewhere for service in N Conway for years but nothing was really getting done, and I was never informed that it needed anything. Long story shortened, I brought it to Anthony and his professional team at AutoCarePlus in Conway for an oil change and they went through it with a fine tooth comb. I was so impressed. They not only told me what was critically needed but brought me in and showed me. I wasn't really surprised because the car is older and hasn't received proper maintenance but so happy to know. It wasn't really safe to drive. They fixed everything for me and always made sure I had a loaner car to take home. Very professional, very honest, very clean, and very nice. I usually hate taking my car for maintenance but these guys make it less of a chore. Highly recommend!!! They are my go-to service team! We were on vacation camping in New Hampshire when our GMC Yukon began jerking up hills...called this place and spoke with Anthony who walked me through to check my transmission fluid...after describing why I saw on the dipstick he told me to bring it in the next day...the guys there (Anthony & I believe Jake?) we great and honest...could have charged us the full amount but did not because they stated the matter is covered under warranty and we need to take it to the dealer. I woke up this morning to a dead battery. Upon searching for local places that would take me same day I found Auto Care Plus on Yelp and all the good reviews were spot on. The customer service I received while on the phone and while at their facility was top notch. They had to order my battery and not only did they get it in but they also had it installed all in the time it took to have lunch next door. When I returned not only was the battery taken care of but they called Honda to get my radio code and had my radio reset and working for me, which I think is a step above and beyond. DO NOT GO HERE! My check engine light and parking break light were on. first my partner read the engine code. next I brought my car to auto care plus, I told them the code and that I would like it fixed please and thank you as well as the parking break issue. I have a volvo and expect to pay slightly more when it comes to car work. They have my car for not 2, not 4, but 7 entire days. I had okay'd them for some work that I thought was in order to turn off the check engine light, but being a young female who doesn't know a thing about cars was wrong to Ok them. I didn't know this. 7 days later I have a bill of $1,998. I did not get to work during this time because I was not offered a rental. The biggest surprise was that both lights were STILL on $2K later. This is a lesson for me, I shouldnt have OK'ed any work without knowing what it was but i DEFINITELY should have researched this garage before even making an appointment. The icing on top of the cake? my car came back in worse condition. The motor to my ac/heating system was no longer working. this was due to the " lead mechanic" messing up changing the cabin air filter. HA. If I had known that actually needed to be changed university youtube and Auto Zone could have helped me there. Like I said, DO NOT GO HERE unless you like burning money of course. read more

This shop really helped us out of a jam. Our car's starter suddenly stopped working and we had a two hour drive home. Fortunately, Joe and his crew was able to diagnose the problem and fix it the next day. It was a smooth experience being that were not local to Conway. I am very disappointed in service. I bought new tires at the end of March to the tune of $1000 from Johnson's Auto care. I then had several thousand $'s worth of front end work completed at Auto Care plus shortly after. I noticed that my brand new tires up front were wearing. I brought back to Auto Care and got the run around, I then brought back to Johnson's they informed me that the reason for the wear was due to being way out of alignment (which was completed at Auto Care as part of the front end work) therefore Johnson's would not comp the tires. For Auto care to not do anything to remedy this is unacceptable. The wear on tires is directly due to the negligence of Auto Care not aligning my vehicle properly and now I will be out several hundred $'s to replace tires that I just replaced read more

So...my car broke down in the middle of the Kancamangus, of course it did. AAA towed it to Importech where it had an extended week's vacation through the following work week (we live in Maine - life had to keep moving). My husband and I made the drive to gather the car, and while the cost wasn't exciting (although perfectly reasonable for what needed to be done), I honestly would have stayed for a beer if this garage had a bar! The garage had an informative, helpful, entertaining man at the desk, with his own bobblehead no less! There was a comfy vibe to the place, and the bathrooms were amazing clean too! read more

Terrible experience with Auto Care Plus in Conway, NH!! Set appointment for 8AM on Sat. Showed up a bit early at 7:45. Come 8:30, the only tech working that day and I are STILL standing outside, waiting for the guy to come open the store--which was supposed to have opened at 8AM. Tech tried calling the owner when other guy was late, but got no reply. 8:45 the "boss" finally shows up with a sketchy excuse for being 45 minutes late--but no apology. I sit around until 9:30 twiddling my thumbs. Had to ask twice how much longer my estimate was going to take. At 9:45, I finally get my estimate (2 hours after I showed and 1.75 hours after my appointment time), which was very nearly DOUBLE the estimate I'd gotten at VIP a week earlier. I walked out. I took my car to Importech for repair work. The bill shocked me, and when I went to another auto repair shop in the area, they gave me a quote of $200.00 below what Importech charged me. Going online, I found that they just about doubled the cost of at least two major parts, by double, which kept their "labor" charge relatively low. Unfortunately they made up their labor earnings, by charging me approximately double for parts. read more
