This place was recommended to me by a family member who's been coming here for many years for both of his cars. The inspection was pretty fast and the pricing overall was very reasonable. Quotes given from other locations nearby were very pricy compared to Auto Matters. The cherry on top is having that feeling you can trust your car with the people working on it and whether they'd actually be willing to share their knowledge on what should or can be done to keep your car in its best shape long-term, not a quick fix. I have had a nightmare of an experience here. Recently sent my car in for headlight replacement and it came back with a misaligned hood that won't close properly. I called to see if they can correct that but was shouted on and hung up on by the owner denying that the car has always been that way. IT WASN'T!!!. Now I'm going to pay hundreds somewhere else to fix their screw up. THEIR BRAKE WORK was absolutely bad that the BRAKES and Rotors need to be replaced in 6 months. Twice!!! Brought in my car into the shop on short notice for a brake inspection and to request a quote. Their shop has been around since 1999 and they have been in their current location since 2006. Dennis was very helpful and offered up some good solutions for replacing my brake pads and rotors with high quality aftermarket solutions. Dennis seems like a very honest and personable individual and offered a very fair price for the repair, around $700. I was quoted nearly $1300 for aftermarket parts and labor from another local auto repair shop, which is nearly DOUBLE what Dennis had quoted me. Also, just for comparison's sake, $1300 is also how much it would have cost to have gotten my brakes replaced with factory parts from Audi at another shop that I trust and have gone to in NJ. So in terms of pricing and the services that they provide, they are very fair and reasonable. Feel free to price shop like I did, but I don't think you can find a better place in the area for your auto repair needs in terms of price and quality of service. BEWARE!!!! GROUPON INSPECTION SCAM...STAY AWAY!!! I took my 2016 Toyota Sienna for an inspection and I was told that the front brakes and rotors needed replacement to pass inspection because there was slight vibration when stopping and so would NOT pass inspection. I was surprised because I was told that the brakes were in good condition when I bought new tires a month ago. I asked him if the brakes alone could be replaced. He told me he was being "HONEST" and ethical and that he was the customers' advocate and both need to be replaced. I said I wanted to see the brakes and I went into the workshop and I saw that the brakes which were at 3/8th of an inch and would only fail inspection at 2/32 of an inch. To pass inspection and also since I wanted a second opinion, while at his store I called the closest brake repair place down the road for pricing for brakes and rotor replacement and they quoted me $50 less for the same parts and job. I told him that money was tight for me and told him their quoted price and he said that I was lying and the other place was full of old cars and was a dump and threatened that he would charge me labor cost if I went elsewhere. I reluctantly had to agreed to have him finish the job since he threatened to charge me for labor. When I got the bill I looked at the prices of the parts. The pair of rotors were cheap for $30 each, but he charged $130 and the brake pad prices were marked up by $35 and labor was marked up as well. At the store, he said he gets the parts at better prices since he is a mechanic and buys "lots of them". I called him back and asked him why he lied to me about the inspection and about prices and his "HONESTY" and "ETHICS" and other great things he claimed, he replied that he does it to customers in the store to get them to pay, "its how business is done". It was a bad experience being pressured on the spot with a bunch of lies. Resurfacing both the rotors for $20-$30 would have solved the vibration since the brake pads and rotor didn't wear evenly causing the vibration during braking. But this was not a reason to "FAIL" inspection. read more

I initially found this shop through a Groupon, and have now been going to these guys for my yearly inspection for about 5 years. Recently, the owner informed me that they offer the Groupon deal for inspection as their standard price, which I really appreciate instead of having to search around for places as a "new customer." I literally know nothing about cars. So I am always skeptical about going to a mechanic because they see me coming from a mile away. But I've never felt pressured to buy anything or upgrade anything here. In fact, this last visit was the first time in my five years of going to them for a state inspection that I needed to put any additional money into the car. The owner (son) explained in detail what I needed and what the pros and cons were. He also assured me that I did not have to get any work done if I didn't want and it was completely up to me. Finally no pressure to spend additional money. My roters and brake pads needed to be replaced. So, I decided to go ahead and get it done. But to be sure as to whether I needed the additional service, I called one of my closest friends from high school who is a mechanic at a dealership in NJ. I explained the situation and asked whether it was a good deal. My friend was in shock at how little they were charging for roters, and said I was really getting an amazing deal. Additionally, the work took a little longer than expected ( 2 hours instead of 1) because they had to go pick up the parts needed for my brakes. But they apologized multiple times for the wait, and always kept me up to date with the time frame and what else needed to be completed in order for me to be out of there. The owner, both times, ended up 'finding' other problems that led to an extra $1,000+ in parts and labor. Twice. He holds up some parts for you to look at, telling you they can't put it back together without buying these new parts. He knows you're not the mechanic, so you have to take his word for it. Truly awesome experience! This was my second time at Auto Matters and I have to say that Dennis is awesome. Just got my new Mercedes inspected there yesterday, 10-28-15, using a groupon. I've never been there before, but relied on excellent yelp reviews. Dennis and Kim are owners and they were both super friendly, helpful and understanding from my first phone call to make the appointment to getting my car inspected. Despite informing them that I'll be using a groupon when I made my 1st appointment, they were super accommodating. They scheduled me in to accommodate my last minute requests 4 times, after having to reschedule my appointment for the 4th time, due to all kinds of problems with getting my new car back and proper paper work from the Cherry Hill New Jersey Mercedes dealership to get my Pennsylvania inspection done. Not once were Dennis or Kim in the last bit annoyed with me for having to keep rescheduling and requesting last minute appointments, despite using a groupon! Instead, they were very empathetic and even offered for me to have the service department of Mercedes dealership call them directly when I was having problems with the dealership. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place and plan to return without a groupon. I have already recommended this place to a close friend. read more
