had an oil leak on my lexus, brought it in for new valve cover, lady at the front desk insisted i…read moreneeded new spark plugs despite them operating perfectly fine. i told her not to just go ahead and install them but to wait for the technician to address if it was necessary in the first place and to call me before i gave them the greenlight to install an additional $112 worth of parts (likely an additional $100 at least in labor costs for a 6 cylinder like this). they did not call me at all until the job had been completed, completely disregarded my request and proceeding to charge me for it. not only that but when i arrived to pick up the car the had added an array of additional charges and labor charges to the itemized receipt, including a charge for tightening ALTERNATOR bolts, new coolant hosing, and new bolts from apparently cross threading (this car has only been worked on professionally). some of these charges had absolutely nothing to do with the maintenance i had brought the car in for. the validity of these charges comes off to me as a predatory means of squeezing more money out of customers (something the auto mechanic world is infamous for). based on principle alone i cant stand for this and I wont be returning

Gene, went above and beyond to save me money on replacing the back axle of jeep (that I no longer have but dearly miss). Donna, is incredible and what a lot people fail to realize, this lady does the clerical work and jumps in to help out in the garage, I have seen people team her over coals - not knowing that she is busting her tail, just as much as a man does. I like to consider myself, an honest person and going after someone as hard working as her - really sets me on fire!! These people bust their hard-working tails off to provide the best auto service in the City of Waynesboro, so show them respect please. This is not pointed to everyone, just those (I don't know other customers may be going through - but an ounce of kindness is good for the soul). We took a Volvo in after the AC compressor they had installed last fall seized and broke the serpentine belt. We said we wanted an estimate to fix what needed fixing. For $2400 they replaced the AC and belt. Upon leaving the shop the car's AC worked when moving but blew hot air at idle. We took it back. They charged another diagnostic fee and said it needed a fan....for another charge of just under $1000. Immediately after the second pick up the car started throwing codes and blowing hot air; again. Third trip back. They admitted they installed a faulty compressor. After repairs for which they refused to give a statement of what they did to the car, the car died that night and had to be towed away. After putting over $3400 into repairs the car was never driven again. I know Lexington is limited in repair shops but please find anyone else for your auto needs. I had no idea one shop could cause such chaos ultimately leading to junking the car.

A bad situation all around, as we stood at at the guardrail for an hour. Had the car towed to McDonough's Toyota 40 miles north in Staunton. Filled out a service request, dropped it in the overnight box, and then drove a further two hours home to the DC area exhausted by the experience at the end of an 18-hour day. I didn't know what to expect from the McDonough service department, as I'm not a big fan of dealership service departments and not from Staunton. I ended up delighted, however. Stephanie was kind and helpful when she called me on Monday morning, the diagnosis and repair (new alternator and battery, unfortunately, which I'd assumed) was completed quickly, and we picked up the car on Tuesday. All the ladies we dealt with on the service desk were a pleasure to speak with, completely professional, and they returned my calls quickly after I left messages. The estimate was accurate and the cost reasonable for the work done. I hope I'm never in this position again; however, I'm glad we took to the car to McDonough. All's well that ends well.

I admit I wondered how the guy doing the inspection could tell simply by standing behind my car and having me hit the brake. This time from an oil leak dripping onto my heat shield. They changed the oil in my car, even put the sticker in the windows, then denied the oil change when I brought the car back. A trusted mechanic later confirmed my differential had chunks missing from it ($850 repair). Talking it over with a friend, who explained what was required to do such damage, it became clear: someone must have taken my car (a twin-turbo) for a joy ride after the tire install and hit something hard enough to damage both the alignment and differential. Bottom line: avoid this shop--your car may come back worse than when you dropped it off.
