Writing this review from a service this morning in Fontana. Put requests out for a quick locksmith…read morejob. Instead of a text, got a call from some guy who said he was with Tom's Lock and Key. Could be here in 30mins great. Quoted me $95 to put a lock on a bedroom door. When done wanted to charge me $250 to just change the doorknob to one with a lock on it. After arguing a few mins, settled on $200 to get him out of my house. Asked for a receipt. Got a very generic receipt that didn't state actual name of Tom's Lock & Key but said 24HR Locksmith with a different phone number. Receipt name said technician was "Mike". Phone number was also different on receipt than person that called me.

When I got to him he tried to upcharge me. He said, "you didn't bring a key so I can cut and program it?". First of all who brings their own vehicle key to a locksmith to have cut and programmed!!!! he then said, "no worries I have those keys for $65 and $159 total for key and programming." I told him I clearly told you I need a completely new key. So if the key is 65 and the original quote for what I thought was an entire key but later said for program and cut $65 then the total would be $130. So when I got to him the original quote of $65 went to $94 for cut and program then an additional $65 for the key for a total of $159. So he clearly has done this before especially knowing that I was driving that far. So he wanted to charge me more for the program and cut he wanted to charge me for a key. Which I thought was included. Don't do buisness with people that aren't straight up, waist of time.

The company COPART that sub-contracted his company to tow my car did not communicate with him that they'd told me where to put my keys--so Tariq tried to call me while I was at work to find out that same information. Long story short, Tariq came back to get my car after another job because he understood it was a case of poor communication by COPART and wanted to do right by me, the client.
