It also had a bad oil leak problem. I was happy to see so many Chevys being worked on in their work bays. This was October 2019. I picked it up 2 weeks later (Lifters/Camshaft/Oil Pan) and it seemed to run like a charm. After a week in Ensenada, the 'old' knock was back and I had to take it in for a 2nd time, argh! One week later it was ready for pickup and I drove it back to Los Angeles and I thought it was fixed. Alas, no knock anymore but the coolant is still leaking. I have spoken to Johnny on the phone and he has assured me that I have at least a 9-12mo month guarantee, so I am planning to head down next week to have them give it another go. It's a father-son business and they have a very well-run shop; and I do appreciate their care and attentiveness. I am just very nervous that I spent over $2k and they haven't been able to completely resolve my issues. I will come back to this review and write what happens on this next visit. It'll either go from 4 stars to 5 stars- depending on results... Fingers-crossed! Update: Early March 2020. We finally found the time to return to AutoServicio Johnny's. Johnny & his guys took another deep look again under the hood. It seems that my coolant problem will never be fixed unless I replace the engine. Bummer, but livable; I just have to be vigilant with watching the coolant levels every few gas fill-ups. The knocking noise still happens occasionally (not consistent), but they did look to see if they could locate why. It still comes and goes. If it gets worse I will take it down to them again, because at the moment it is infrequent. I do have 193k miles on this Suburban but it really does serve as our workhorse and I would like to keep it going! While checking out the old coolant issues/engine knock again, I also had them replace the fuel pump, headlight bulb, and a ticking noise coming from the dashboard (A/C actuator). They fixed all those issues easily and at a good rate. I do like their customer service, and they have stood behind their work each time I show up at their doorstep. I've never felt they were dismissive -of me or my persistent questions. Hope to try their work in the future on our other vehicles. As long as their pricing remains competitive, and they stay as supportive as they have been in the past, I will return!

I have had a motor replaced, shocks and other services all with great success. As someone who has friends with mechanic shops in the US they are setting the bar high in Baja California. I had a great experience with Alex at Value Auto Repair. I originally reached out through Yelp, and he was responsive and answered all of my questions. His pricing was significantly better than what the dealership quoted me, but what really stood out wasn't just the price--it was his honesty. I came in with a humming noise that I believed was a bad wheel bearing but was unsure. Alex was upfront from the beginning after making the same diagnosis and even encouraged me to get quotes from other mechanics if it made me feel more comfortable so I could make sure I was getting a fair deal. That kind of confidence and transparency is hard to find. When I arrived, he was able to get my car in within about 30 minutes to diagnose it. While the part was being delivered, I went to lunch, and once I came back, he had the wheel bearing replaced in about 45 minutes. Before I left, he took the time to show me both the old and new wheel bearings, explaining how they worked and letting me hear and feel the difference. I really appreciated him taking the time to educate me instead of just handing me a bill. One thing I noticed while I was waiting was how many customers came in who clearly knew Alex. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to see him, several appeared to be repeat customers, and there was an obvious level of trust between them. After my own experience, I completely understand why. Alex also has a great sense of humor, which made the whole experience much less stressful. Most importantly, the humming noise is completely gone, and my car drives perfectly again. So we drove down there and they showed me a small room with so many bolts, nuts. I thought man I never gonna find one that's works. With in 3 minutes I found the perfect bolt,washers, and nut that well get us home. I thanked Justin for help, gave him some money for the bolt. I can't wait, after searching and getting quotes on Yelp, I based my selection on credible positive reviews and chose Phan Auto Repair shop in Mira Mesa. I usually go to bigger established shops, but sometimes those shops are notorious for being dishonest about parts and labor costs $$$$. And every time I take my car to a dealer for repairs, they want to buy my current car and sell me a new car, which is their mission, other than overcharge. This shop is in Mira Mesa, not fancy by any means: the waiting area was very dirty, no air conditioning, and not enough space as the seats were crammed up. My objective was to drop off my car for brakes repair and dash out. There were 3 guys working at Phan, I spoke to Dave and Lai. I had previously texted via Yelp and their response was faster than their competitors, in fact a shop across the street quoted me $300-$400 more!! They answered all my questions, concerns and after 4 hours, installed OEM brake routers, pads and sensors on my MBZ. During that time, I took a Lyft to UTC and watched a 3 hrs movie: Odyssey, had lunch and shopped. Shortly thereafter, I got a call saying my car was ready. Upon paying, I made sure my receipt clearly included a warranty. Be aware there is a 3% fee if you pay with a credit card. But I was glad new brakes routers, pads and scensors were installed at a reasonable price. Thanks to Yelp and Yelpers reviews about this shop. Glad there is no brake squeak and will keep my fingers crossed about this recent brake work as I had an overall positive experience from this great shop Phan's Auto Repair.

This shop ripped us off for over $4000.00. Our truck 2003 7.3 was taken in for a check engine…read morelight. Cut to the chase they replaced all the injectors both valve cover wiring harness, fuel filter and miscellaneous. They never told us all after market parts would be installed. Upon picking up the truck the owners were made aware the truck was not running correctly. The replied "It only runs rough for a shot time Upon start up" Two more trips back including a $500.00 trip to ElCajon for for diagnostic showing bad injectors was completely ignored by this shop. (THE TRUCK RAN HORRIBLE!) with under 500 miles since their repair and several trips back to their shop We finally took it to a real Ford Certified diesel mechanic for repair. We replaced all part that Pine Valley "auto" repair installed and the truck runs like new. This outfit is very dishonest in my opinion, and does not stand behind their work! Stay far away from this shop. We will be filing in court and with the (B.A.R.) as well and social media sites.
