Had an 8:30 a.m. Saturday appointment for a check engine light and several other items. The check engine light turned out to be a cylinder misfire, and what I thought might become a very expensive engine repair ended up being much more reasonable than expected. The team at Phan's diagnosed the problem, explained everything clearly, and completed the repairs professionally. They also took care of several smaller items while the car was there, which was very convenient. It's not always easy to find an honest, reliable independent mechanic, but we had an excellent experience and would definitely recommend Phan's Auto Repair. As a bonus, Stars & Stripes gas station and car wash is right around the corner, so you can fill up, get a great car wash, and call it a day. read more

They are honest & their prices are very fair. The repair took longer than expected but myrepair was not a typical repair so i was very understanding with the delay. So rare to find an honorable repair shop!! Needed new brake pads and they were much less than what the dealer quoted. It's been a few months now and everything works great! They even explained what the noise was and saved me a few hundred saying I didn't need front pads yet. Now, my car broke down this past weekend. AAA guy was a ding dong who misdiagnosed the problem when jumping my car, and local mechanic tried to take advantage of his stupidity, which would have cost me over $1000. Called Phan's and Lai explained everything step by step, totally patient, professional, polite, and trustworthy. By some minor miracle my car started so I drove it directly to their shop after the phone call. David checked out my car and returned it to me saying it only needed a battery. I AM NEVER TAKING MY CAR ANYWHERE ELSE, and you shouldn't either!!!! No bells and whistles, small shop, but competent, quick, friendly, trustworthy! I ask if the worked on new car ac recharge. I had a rock jump from the road and put a hole in my ac compressor. Had Tang from cartunist replaced. But did not have the newer ac recharge system. So found Phan auto from Yelp. Ask the dealer first they wanted to charge me $249 just for diagnostic. Let alone the recharge. These guy not only were able to take care of it the charge was far less. I've came here a couple times already and they have yet to disappoint. Came in first for an oil change. If you have your own oil/filter, then can use that and they'll just charge you for labor, but I was too lazy to so I just used theirs. I recently came in to get my alternator swapped on my Honda Civic. They charged about $130 for labor which seemed fair. Dropped my car off at 10AM and they called about 5 hours later saying it was ready to be picked up. So far so good. Seems like a great shop with great workers. They also seem to answer their phone quickly which is nice. read more

Found Phan's through Yelp and taking my cars to them was the best decision. They are honest about the work your car needs. They don't try to misdiagnose issues to make money off you. A tow truck told me I needed a new alternator and they have a friend that can do it. I took it to Phan's instead. They ran battery & alternator tests to find out everything was working perfectly fine. I felt bad they didn't even charge me for the tests they ran. Even the quote they gave me on a new alternator was cheaper compared to other places in the area. Super thankful I found them! read more

I am sharing this review based on my personal experience so others can use it as a precaution and make their own informed decision. I scheduled an appointment over the phone and provided details about my car, which is a 718 Porsche. I specifically asked whether their mechanics had experience on oil changing on Porsche vehicles, and I was told yes. I also asked if they would be using an OEM filter, and I was assured that they would. I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment, and that's when the red flags began. 1. The filter brought out was not OEM -- it was a generic brand. 2. The mechanic that was assigned to my car did not appear to know what he was doing. He spent at least 10 minutes trying to figure out how to remove the underbody cover and was unsuccessful. He also had to get on the computer to look up what screws or bolts needed to be removed. He began removing a few bolts that should not have been touched, which is when I started to get concerned. While this was happening, a senior mechanic came over and told me to wait in the lobby because he did not like that I was watching. I refused because I was standing behind the clearly marked red safety line. I had also asked the front desk beforehand whether it was okay to stand there and observe, and they said it was fine. This raises a serious concern: why accept my appointment if there was no qualified mechanic available with experience servicing this type of vehicle? It felt as though I was being asked to step away so I would not see potential mistakes being made. At that point, I lost confidence in their ability to properly service my car and asked them to reinstall all screws and bolts so I could leave. Based on this experience, I would advise others to ask detailed questions and ensure the shop truly has the proper experience and parts before proceeding. I am pretty sure they are good at servicing japanese or domestic cars but based on what I have witnessed, I would not be comfortable bringing in any European or high end cars. I got zero customer service. I ended up bringing my car to another auto shop about a block away and the mechanic there literally took less than 5 mins to remove the cover and began work on my car. read more

They suggested some additional work on my car that they noticed was wrong when fixing the original issue and even saved the bad parts to show me! I will be going here from now on!
