Went in to try and get my car smog today. The guy was out front working on a car but never even acknowledged me standing around. I asked him how much for a smog and he gave me his price. Then I asked him if he can get me in for smog and he didn't even reply to me. I figured he was busy so I stood around waiting. Well 5 minutes passed by and he still didn't even acknowledge me as a customer so I just left. Customer service is non-existent here. Usually.if your car not passed. You didn't have to pay, till you fixed it then re- testing. But this place, first time, I was here. $68 price started. They asked me about $50 for fee ???? if your car wasn't passed. Then when come back to re- testing is done . You will have to pay more around $26.95.plus certificate fee. So, I left here with $50 cash was out off my pocket. The old guy was very rude , he wasn't honest, they just trying to get your money when your car was failed I did not recommended this place to anyone else in Fresno. Please do not come here, if you don't want any trouble and Scams. I had to go another place Sunny Sky smog. In and out in 10 minutes. The guy here is a man of few words, I could see how it could come off as rude to some people. He was very nice though. He does charge extra for card (I asked) so I just paid cash. I may or may not have gotten ripped off I'm honestly not sure. It did seem kind of pricy but it looks like he was charging about $50 almost a year ago so the $70 I paid may be justified. If you value your time, this is a great place to come though. read more

Echoing comments from other reviewers, AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!! The place is filthy and the guy was frying up chicken breasts over a propane stove...on a table right next to his smog computer...seriously???? I brought my vehicle in to have it smogged & certified (mind you, it's always passed long as I can remember!), and the guy went thru the process. When he was done, and he swiped my card, he didn't check to ensure the receipt paper was being fed thru the receipt printer correctly (the paper feed was jammed) so he wasn't able to produce a receipt for me! As I was getting ready to leave (thinking my truck has passed), I reviewed the paperwork...only to find out it had failed. Let me clarify...did he TELL me (when he handed my card and paperwork back to me at the end of the transaction) that it had failed? NO!!! I went back into the shop, asked him to explain what had failed and he gave me some B.S. answer that my vehicle's emission system "wasn't ready" to be tested according to his smog computer. To clarify, there were no DTC codes or other code types during the functional inspection (the visual inspection passed 100%!) that were picked up by his OBD scanner...just a "not ready" message. Next, he tried to tell me it was because someone (get this...) "disconnected the battery and that's why that msg was appearing on his smog computer". Total BS, according to my best friend was is an ASE-certified master mechanic & had worked on my vehicle as long as I've had it! (since you're wondering, no, friend's shop doesn't do smog checks)! What my mechanic friend told me was that this idiot at this shop should've have honestly told me to drive the truck around for a week (I had explained to the guy at this shop that my vehicle had sat idle for 6 days since I was working from home, prior to my driving it to get it smogged, when I got the smog notification from DMV earlier in the week) to cycle in more recent codes, and then bring the vehicle back with a warmed-up engine to THEN get it smogged. So....because of the following: #1 = No receipt - by law, a receipt should have been reprinted. Not my fault he doesn't know how to reprint that from his credit card machine! #2 = If a customer fails their certification, the business owner should TELL them (not wait for them to find out on their own as they're getting ready to leave!!!) and then act surprised and wonder "why" the customer is so pissed! To clarify, I wasn't so pissed that he failed me and ripped me off for $50; I was pissed the he didn't bother to explain anything to me, UNTIL I BROUGHT IT UP!!! #3 = Any greaseball mechanic that frys up his own lunch in a pan right next to his equipment should be fined by the BAR! The stench was rancid & smelled chicken that had been left out at room temp all day! Had this guy just been open, honest, and transparent with me, and recommended that I just drive my truck around for the next week, and come back later, I would've been happy to do so, and I would've shown up as promised the following week. Now, this is going to be escalated to CA's Bureau of Automotive Repair as a formal complaint. Hopefully others can learn from this misfortune & will avoid this place at all costs! read more

I did smoke check with Auto smog today. The guy who did smoke check was not honest. He just want to get cash. He overcharge when you want to pay with credit card. He charged more than 4 percent. he did not say I was suppose to pay service charge. Receipt price $49. Charge me $51.24. Said company policy. I never get charge what it said in the receipt to do smoke. You will lose my business. the guy charged $0.75 cent extra and $1.49 service charge for credit card. read more

I had to get a smog check during the Covid-19 mess. They were quick and did a good job. It took less than 15 minutes.

So when I had to smog my car, and of course I waited until the last minute, AUTO SMOG was there for me. First, had my oil changed at Valvoline down the block, which I highly recommend especially if you've not done that for quite some time, then gone by Smog Master. I waited a short amount of time because they were busy working on other cars. When it was my turn I inquired about getting my car smogged. Employee ask for my registration which I had in my hand already, so I handed it to him. Two seconds later he was saying "Sorry, you need to take your car to a Start Certified shop so they can send your certificate to DMV. I wasn't too happy wasting my time waiting because the time was now about 4:30pm, and everyone closes at 5pm. Not really knowing what to do next I got in my car upset, and drove to little street leading to Blackstone. At the Stop Sign I could see that there was the Small Smog Shop across the street with a big banner which read that they were Star Certified. I didn't no at first if they were trust worthy being they also had a few cars in parked in front that were for sale. I had no other choice but to give them a chance or get a ticket over the weekend because the tag on my car were expiring that day. I slowly drove into the parking lot a saw that there was another car backing out that just had gotten smogged. I ask the gentleman if I could get my car smogged. They were willing to match prices with coupons on the Internet so it was $40 including certificate.
