Was pleasantly surprised when I took my husband's car over to get checked out. I walked in and was quickly instructed to fill out their intake form and leave my keys. My whole visit took maybe an hour. What really made this place stand out was the waiting room. It was decorated like a 1950s diner, resplendent with a self-serve coffee bar, filtered water fountain for hot and cold water and plenty of refreshments. The room was air-conditioned with a cute little table in the middle and plenty of seating despite the small space. It's perfect if you're planning to stay and wait. It was early in the day, so I took a walk around since it's in the heart of Old Town, near all sorts of wonderful little businesses. As such, they gave me a call upon service completion. read more

What I need in a smog check shop: - Fast and efficient smog check - Decent customer service - NO insane conspiracy theory and propaganda on the walls Well, I got one out of the three during my visit here. Fast? Yes! The smog check was very fast. Infact, by the time I dropped off my car walked to the coffee shop across the street and came back, my car was done. Efficient? Yes! I passed and they sent my info directly to the DMV for me. Decent customer service? Nope. When I arrived, they barely looked at me, said,"fill this out", handed me a clipboard, and walked away. On my exit the worker said, "You passed. Cash or card?" I had to ask how much? Do I get paperwork for the DMV? Do I get a copy and receipt? Couple the above with the insane COVID conspiracy signage they have in the window. I only noticed it on my way out, but it said "babies are born dead due to the Covid vaccine. Don't get the jab" WTF?, is this is a smog check station or a Christian Nationalist 4Chan site? Definitely, won't be back here anytime soon. read more

I would not recommend this place. Unfortunately they were my go to since they opened. Took a new car in, was failed and told my cats were bad, gave me no information on the smog referee like they did the man in-front of me, was told they needed replaced and that was that. Did my own research and found out my car was a federal car and does infact have the correct cats on it, I went back to them and brought this to their attention and was told that's not true and that he refused to pass my car just because ‍ he did end up giving me my money back, went to the smog referee out in Madera and passed with the cats they said were wrong. Don't waste your time, money or energy on this place. A complaint will be filed with the BAR and I will no longer send friends and family here. Totally unacceptable, unprofessional and uneducated on California protocol for SMOG After seeing the owners responses to others, I felt the need to update my review. Your technician claimed the catalytic converter was not CARB-compliant -- an assertion that contradicts the actual EO number (D-193-144, in case you need a refresher). This EO is approved by CARB for use in California on the exact application my vehicle falls under. Perhaps a refresher on how to verify EO numbers on CARB's website would be beneficial for your staff? Furthermore, per the California Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) Smog Check Reference Guide, technicians are required to verify EO numbers and confirm proper application using the ARB database, not assume based on visual inspection alone. Falsely failing a catalytic converter -- especially when all documentation and labeling are present -- not only reflects poorly on your professional integrity, but may constitute a violation of BAR's Smog Check regulations. In addition to causing unnecessary inconvenience, I was also forced to take time off work, pursue an additional inspection, and waste my own resources to correct your mistake. I have since had my vehicle properly passed by a more competent smog check station -- one that understands how to follow California emissions compliance protocol. Should you fail to acknowledge and correct this issue -- and continue misinforming customers or issuing improper failures -- I'll have no choice but to file a formal complaint with the California BAR, under their complaint process: https://www.bar.ca.gov/consumer/complaints I'd also be more than happy to share my experience on public platforms, so other California vehicle owners can be aware of these practices. If your business is interested in maintaining its BAR license, you might want to start by training your employees to verify EO numbers correctly -- instead of guessing. 1. I've been going to Clovis Smogs for the last several years, this business has always treated me well, they are fast and efficient in their work, and are always Professional. They have a nice little Air Conditioned office that always has the TV on, and they provide free Snacks and Coffee for their Customers. As far as cost for my Smog, I paid $63 with my Veterans Discount which is in the middle of the road, there some cheaper and some more expensive, but the Value is in their Expedience, Facilities, and Professionalism . You're in and out pretty quick, and have a nice Cool place to sit and have a Snack while you wait.... I bring all of my Vehicles here, and highly recommend them!! read more

Fast and friendly smog service. I got here first thing in the morning and they were open a little early; there was already someone ahead of me. Took about 20 minutes for that person's smog check to finish, and about another 15-20 for mine. Employee wasn't chatty but was friendly and got me in and out quickly. The waiting room was comfortable and there were snacks and some drinks. Is there a lot of crazy MAGA crap on the walls? Yes, but I'm reviewing this place on their service, which was fast, friendly, and fairly-priced. My car passed smog, so I can't speak to how great the experience would have been had it not passed, but I did notice they provide DMV services for a fee, which is a fact I've tucked away for a later date. My car also failed, because, "It wasn't ready". I asked why it "wasn't ready" and was told it had recently been worked on, or the battery had been disconnected, or it had been sitting for a long period of time. None of this was true. It hasn't been worked on in a year, I would have known if the battery had been disconnected and I drive it everyday. He then charged me $56. I called another smog place and was told that they don't do that. If your car isn't ready, they don't charge you; they stop and inform you and give you a chance to correct the problem. read more

I have always used Clovis Smog and found the people there to be friendly and helpful. I took my 2015 Honda in for a smog test and after about 30 minutes the young man informed me that my car "wasn't ready" and did not pass the inspection. I asked what "wasn't ready" meant and he said that because my car had been sitting for a long time and not driven and I had had a battery disconnect and I had recently had my car worked on by a mechanic, it " wasn't ready". I informed him that I drive my car every day, and the battery had not been disconnected and I had not been to a mechanic for my car in over a year. He replied, "that's strange" and added that the charge was $56.75. Why didn't he stop when the car told him, "not ready"? read more

I went in for a smog check after moving back to California. I walked in and was checked in fairly quickly. All I had to do was fill out my vehicle information and I was about third in line. The whole process took less than 45 minutes but I had a very pleasant experience. The wait area was very nice and customer service was great. Walked in on a Saturday morning right at 0800. Several people were already in line to receive Smog and DMV services. The young man who manned the front counter (I wish I got his name) was very courteous, friendly and efficient. He was handling DMV requests and was able to get the completed smog customers out of the door in a timely manner. The rest of the team was professional and handled everyone's vehicles with care and caution and care despite the smaller parking lot space to navigate the amount of cars / trucks. The interior space was becoming a bit cramped due to it being very cold this morning, but there was ample seating space for everyone, complimentary coffee/ water and snacks. Clean, tasteful decor gave it a very local "small" business feel. Clovis Smog is THE smog location to have all your smog AND DMV needs under one roof. One of the most well run smog and businesses in the Fresno / Clovis area. Price is in line with what you'd expect at any smog facility. However the local/family feel is well worth the price should you find them the more "expensive" than other places. Highly recommended will be coming back for the rest of my vehicles. read more
