Brought my car into Auto Stop in addition to another shop in Leesburg and Auto Stop was legitimately double the costs for the exact same services. Not an emotional response, strictly facts (btw I also had a third store inspect my car, for the exact same repairs, and they were still significantly less than Auto Stop). I would absolutely NOT recommend this place. Driving an extra 30 minutes to a reliable shop was well worth the extra thousands (yes, thousands) of dollars that I saved. I hope this doesn't come across as me trying to promote another shop, I'm not. I did my due diligence and took my car to 3 different places, asked for them to review and quote the same exact services and Auto Stop was not even in the same ballpark as the other two. The repairs I'm referring to here are simple things like brakes, ball joints, sway bar, etc. pretty basic stuff that requires very straight forward parts so apparently Auto Stop has magical technicians with fingers of gold performing the actual services as compared to everyone else. read more

I admit that I can be a picky consumer and a bit critical at times. I brought my Infiniti in to have some brake work and other things done. The customer service was excellent - much friendlier than the dealership service. The pricing was very fair and work was done as promised and on time. This is a place that you can easily miss - you just have to look hard at it's got very small frontage and is a bit set back. I'm a bit of a dork in that I get my Crane stationary personalized - so I can appreciate old fashioned communication. I have received multiple thank you cards and a Holiday card as well from this place. It's refreshing to see a small company that can provide good service, great communication, and fair prices. Wow. I took my car here after getting an estimate from the dealership (who shall remain nameless) for $1500!! This was the first time I was having a problem since the warranty had expired. Not trusting the dealership's estimate, I went on Yelp and found the glowing reviews for Auto Stop. 3 new filters and a transmission fluid change later, my car was running perfectly again for less than $200. I love Tom's. I've been here several times. They've done excellent work for a reasonable price - trust me, I'm on a limited budget and I can afford this place, no problem. They will do work at no charge (patched a tire that had a nail in it/read the code for my check engine light) and they will drive you to the metro or bus station if you can't wait. They even drove me to work one time since I work close by. Very trustworthy and very efficient. The 4 Mile Dog Run is right there too so you can bring your dog and get him a workout while you wait. read more

Don't even hesitate--bring your car to AutoStop. I've never had such a great experience with auto maintenance. I brought my car in for its annual safety inspection and asked them to look at a couple of things my dealer had said I needed to have done. AutoStop confirmed the one I knew was legitimate, waived off the one I hadn't believed, and diagnosed something that would have caused me serious problems. They asked for my permission before doing any work, finished within 24 hours of drop-off, and presented me with a bill several thousands of dollars lower than my dealer's estimate. Without exception, everyone I talked to was friendly and helpful--never a hint of pressure or condescension. The shuttle to/from the Metro made it easy for me to drop off my car after work Thursday and retrieve it Saturday morning. Honesty, integrity, and professionalism. I've visited many times and will keep going back and recommending them to as many people as possible. They are honest and won't rip you off by doing extra work, and are also friendly and down to earth. I had this rickety old car that I'd drop off for an oil change and would also ask them to check things like the brakes, a/c, suspension... each time they'd give me the oil change and say that the inspected item was either fine, or would need to be replaced down the road, but encourage me not to if I was thinking about getting a new car. Most recently, I ran my car into the curb, and the dealership wanted to charge me way too much for not that much damage. I don't know why I even went there, but anyway, I made a call to Auto Stop while I was still at the dealership waiting for them to just give me back my wheel and let me go somewhere else. They have had so many opportunities to take advantage of me, but this shop is 100% honest and does not perform unnecessary work. pros: phenomenal service. figured out my problem in 5 mins and didn't even charge me for figuring it out, even though they had to balance all four tires. tom is a great guy. clean shop. definitely will use them as my main service guys going forward cons: if you never been there before, it is kind of hard to see where the shop entrance is. remember that picture in the profile well. also the entrance is kind of narrow for when the days are busy. but i am just nitpicking here. read more

Only been here a couple of times, but both have been great experiences. First was when Linday Lexus tried to say I had "frozen calipers" and that my rear brakes weren't working. Auto Stop called me back and said they couldn't find a single thing wrong with it. I went back when my engine light came on, and instead of charging me for taking the engine apart and replacing plugs that I probably didn't need, they troubleshot the issue, and decided to just reset the lights to monitor. Haven't had a single light come on since... saved me a bundle. read more

These guys are as good as they come. I've been here several times for services ranging from oil changes to more expensive repairs including replacing struts/alignment. They are honest and won't tell you that you need something when you don't. If you bring your car in for an oil change, that's what you get. They may make other recommendations, but they NEVER pressure you to have other services done. I've been to other mechanics in the area who told me that I needed a bunch of things fixed, then went to Auto Stop for a second opinion and they've always been honest, saving me a ton of money (and unnecessary aggravation). They really put their customers first, providing top notch service. They call you back when they say they will, and they do the job within the time frame specified. They have even stayed open late to wait for me to come pick up the car, long after they've closed for the day. I always wind up coming back to Auto Stop for all of my car's needs, because I know they do the right thing...each and every time. Reasonable prices, great honest reliable service. My experience with Auto Stop was beyond fantastic! A severe thunderstorm knocked out the Auto Stop's power while they were working on my car, and they were out there working with flashlights and hand tools in order to get my car fixed on time. Everyone there was extremely courteous, and they drove me to and from the metro while my car was being worked on so that I did not have to sit around the shop. I always come here to get my car maintenance (oil change, fluid check, tire rotation, etc.) but i had a problem with my window regulator. I didnt see window repair as a service on the website so I originally contacted another local shop that specialized in windows, before heading in and i called Auto Stop, out of curiosity i asked if they happened to repair window regulators, and they do! I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for a "One Stop Shop" they have a great staff and great prices. read more

This is my first review on Yelp and I feel like these guys deserve it. I just recently moved to Virginia from California. My family had an auto shop that we've been going to for about 35+ years now. When I moved out here, I was nervous about finding a replacement. I called the day before for an oil change and they were able to fit me in right at 8am. The service took about an hour and ten minutes. I brought my dog and we went to the dog park, which is right next to the shop. Side note, Auto Shop is dog friendly and even had a water bowl for dogs inside. When I picked up my car, they said everything looked good. They didn't try to scam me and say I needed my air filter changed or my breaks replaced or my car was going to blow up if I didn't pay $600 to fix it now. Every gentleman (from over the phone to the in-store experience) was super nice and friendly! The service only costed $42, which is super reasonable. The best part was they gave me a freaking goody bag when I left. It was filled with Milano's cookies, biscoff cookies, Twix, Andes mint and a peppermint York patty. What a treat! To sum it all up, five star auto shop with five star guys. Definitely recommend. read more

Competent, technical expertise, trustworthy, extremely professional! This is the second time to use their service and they have already saved me thousands of dollars! My daughter had problems with overheating and another mechanic (the closest station she could pull into (Steven's on Richmond Hwy)) told her that the engine was shot and it would cost her $2000 to replace or she should just sell the car. Auto Stop (Tony) told me over the phone what to check to see if they were giving me the straight story at the other mechanic shop and they were not. This other mechanic shop basically was trying to swindle my teenage daughter. I had the car towed to Auto Stop and they discovered the radiator hoses had not been connected causing the leaking of coolant and overheating. Auto Stop did not charge me a thing! The guys are incredible! I wish everyone could be trusted like them and I would never use another mechanic besides them! read more

I first brought my car in to have a diagnostic run for a check engine light. My sister recommended the place to me after having read great reviews on Yelp. Every dealing I have had with any employee there has been great. While it is very evident that I am not knowledgeable about cars, they always tell me what's up with my car in a way that is understandable but never patronizing. Moreover, they are honest, they are not trying to upsell you anything more than you need for your car, and they don't charge you ridiculous fees for every little thing done to your vehicle. I don't understand the 5-star ratings. I went here last week for a brake line that went bad. I told them exactly what the problem was and didn't want the hassle of doing it myself. However, when they quoted me $340 to replace a rubber brake hose and to bleed the brakes I nearly lost it. I called them on the brake hose being a $20 part and brake fluid only costing around $5. Needless to say I didn't have the work done. I can understand a 200-300% mark up on prices because its Arlington but seriously? over 1000% mark up... Come on. Immediately called a local car parts shop, sure enough $19.79 per hose. Ended up replacing both rear hoses and bled the brakes for under $50. Lesson learned. Never again. read more

Brung Jagaur XKR Superchargeed by..heard grinding in the wheel. The shop was busy as sin; yet someone still took time to listen to my complaints and helped me assess the situation. Took my car to the back bay and made wait 1 1/2 hours. Gave me a free ride to Pentagon City Mall and back. I needed new brakes and rotors; fixed a cord that popped lose in the exhaust for free and didnt charge me for the assessment! I didnt get my care fixed that day (military training). Shopped around on other sites....yeah they were 63% cheaper than the Jagauar/Land Rover dealership price; i was charged $100.00 plust tax just to look at the car. 30% cheaper than other shops. Most importantly these guys knew what they were talking about and confident. Two weeks later dropped car off in the garage driveway at 1200hrs before I was hitting the bar; placed the key in the door drop box. I filled out the paper of what I wanted to fix (Brakes and Rotors) and to check out back reverse light. They opened at 0700 in the morning... Although I did not have a appointment...when I got a ride to base from training to Auto Shop...at 1017 my car was fixed ready to go! No grinding...no noise... Brung me to the back bay and showed me my old parts and the probelem...then showed me how to change my bulb for future reference..easy as hell...no charge Everyone here is nice..professional and they care...Middle finger to my dealership...I am only using these guys #salute!!! read more

I think the other reviews pretty much sums up the experience I had here. Took my car in to to double check a failed state inspection performed by a major dealership that recommended a $700 repair. Auto Stop told me that there wasn't anything wrong as I had suspected and only charged me $16 for the state inspection. One thing I noticed is that even the other customers were helpful to me by telling me about the near by coffee shop with wifi. Definitely getting a good vibe from this place so far! read more

I had gotten two bent alloy wheels courtesy of Fairfax County potholes and went in to get them fixed. The tires were installed no problem on a new set of wheels but there was an issue with one of the TPMS sensors that lingered. First of all, you should know that these guys DO NOT DO AUTO BODY, although they came up on my Yelp search for Auto Body. In April, our car got rear-ended, and my wife was able to drive it home. However, after talking to insurance, we were ready to get it fixed up a couple days later. At that point, the battery wouldn't start or take a charge, so we got it towed down the street to Auto Stop, assuming that the could take care of both the mechanical issues and the new bumper that we thought we needed at the time. Once we got it there, their mechanics got the battery running with their shop charger, and they would check it out for other mechanical problems AT NO CHARGE. And, since they don't do body work, they would take it next door to Arlington Collision Center when they were done with it. I mean, that is TOTALLY not their responsibility. This was a Saturday afternoon, and I wouldn't have minded coming down to pick it up and move it over to Arlington Collision when it opened up on Monday, but these guys went out of their way to help me out, just because they're nice people. They didn't charge me a dime, but I got a call from Arlington Collision on Monday asking for my permission to check out the car. How cool is that? read more

I've been here for routine oil changes and break checks and my fiancée has been here for inspections, oil changes, and a new set of brakes. The guys here are really thorough in what they do, and were helpful in explaining the TLC (as they said!) I need to give my car if I want it to last. Unfortunately we are planning our wedding, honeymoon, and are currently on a single income (while I rack up grad school loan debt) and cannot afford to make $2,000+ to repairs to my car to replace the gasket, especially when even before we found out about this issue our plan was to replace my car (a 2008) in the next year or two once we have dual income. The oil change was quite affordable though ($44) and they even took me back to my building (near Pentagon City Mall) after I dropped off the car. I was without the car the whole day (I wasn't called until 5pm and they close at 6) but my fiancée was able to drive us there and pick up my car right before closing. I chose a day for an oil change when I knew I didn't need a car so keep that in mind when scheduling. As for my fiancée's work, the oil changes were similar, the car inspection he had also resulted in him having to leave his car all day (but since it was a weekend I chauffeured him), and his new brakes cost $1,000 (much more in my experience getting new brakes in PA) , and they not only took him back to our building but picked him up from the same location (generally, just the other side of the mall since he went back to work and took the metro). We both are happy with the service we received and plan to keep taking our cars (and future cars) here! read more

I am so glad I found Auto Stop on Yelp! They are the BEST! Never too long of a wait, and Tom is so helpful and honest! I've been several times for oil changes and once for an inspection. Recently, I was in a major bind! My husband's truck had a flat tire, but he was out of town. There was no way I could change this HUGE tire myself, so I called Tom and asked if they had a towing service. He told me no, but since we lived so close he would send a couple of his employees to come refill the tire and bring it to the station! There was a nail in the tire, so they repaired it and brought it back to me a couple days later! You don't find customer service like that too often! I would recommend Auto Stop to anyone! read more

after going to the same wonderful auto shlp in DC (lee's auto service by catholic u) for 20+ years, i was hesitant to try a more conveniently located place. but the 30 min drive back and forth to brookland was a drag, so i tried this shop when they sent me a coupon for an inexpensive oil change. i'm so glad i did!!! it's always a pleasant experience: the ppl are courteous, prompt, do the work needed--not more, not less--and at a fair price. i've subsequently had some major/minor repairs done on both our cars; i've sent friends to this shop, and i'm happy to report high marks all around. it's such a relief to find good customer service. thank you tom and staff for raising the bar! read more
