It's hard to believe that this business even exists. A few years ago I needed a Will notarized and after finding out that my bank couldn't notarize Wills, went here and got it notarized with no problem. Today though, I was astounded to see such an example of poor customer service in a modern business. Stopped in to get a revised Will notarized. The two women at the two desks seemed like the most unhappy people I've ever seen in my life. The one on the right had a sign "Desk Closed. NO Questions!". Wow, how friendly is that? I understand about working in a small office, but the scattering of chairs couldn't seat all the people that came in right after us. Of course the people waiting, although customers, could be courteous and turn off their phones' ringers like I did. Sadly today so many people don't mind disturbing others with their phones ringing, loudly, in a small space. This office has absolutely NO privacy for any transaction. The gentleman before me, who was registering a vehicle, had to go out to get a check from his car. I took it upon myself (and very glad I did) to ask the woman who's desk wasn't closed, if they did notarization. I had to ask her once before she'd even look up. The third time I asked she said "yes, except for Will's. You have to get an Attorney to notarize a Will." I politely thanked her and scooted out of that miserable place as fast as I could. I do understand how difficult it can be to work in such a small office. However the slightest bit of cordiality, maybe a giving a number or even acknowledging people would go a long way to make this a more pleasant experience for ALL involved (including the very unhappy people who work there). With the way Travis County has greatly improved all of their offices, I find it hard to believe people would actually pay more to go through such an onerous experience. Make sure you double check their hours. Website says they close at 4pm and that they're open Saturdays. On another page, it said not open Saturday. But open until 4pm. I picked up my kids and rushed to be there by 4, only to then see a typed sign that said they're only open until 3. I knocked and spoke with a woman who reinforced the closing time and said they hadn't updated their website. No idea if the process would have been quick. It is unfortunate there is no accountability for such poor service other than to never give them business again. Mary is not only irritable, rude and extremely curt but she was unbelievably disrespectful to her own daughter in front of me the two brief times I was in the office. I could see ladies inside the office so I tapped on the window to get their attention. The younger woman came to the door to inform me that they closed early. I watch and experienced first hand, the owner, the elderly blond lady, YELLING ( no mask) YELLING at customers who were waiting outside fir title work. There was no customer service. It's a tidy little business being run here out of what is essentially a desk in a building in Oak Hill. If you, like me, value your time and are eager to get in and get out of offices that the state occasionally makes you darken the doorway of, you'll no doubt be pleased to know that Auto Title Services of Oak Hill doesn't prefer to spend more of their time with you than you do with them, thankyouverymuch. In her own happy way, the proprietor made short work of my sticker renewal, a hearty achievement given the slow boat approach of some paperwork that happens with the state. As with most by the book state of Texas ventures, you'll need to be keen on biz hours here, but if you're in a pinch and think that updating your Auto sticker (or, presumably, your title) is a difficult proposition, I'm guessing you'll be pleasantly surprised. Very rude and angry staff. I recommend going anywhere but here. During my first visit the older lady gave me a form I had to get the seller of the car I bought to fill out. Emailed to him and got it back up to the title service with in the hour. She told me that was going to work the first time. I went in for a title, the woman working there kept trying to find issues with my documentation and rejected one document. I went back with another document, and she found another problem, which was not a problem on my first visit. Today, I went to auto title services of oak hill and met the Car Title Nazi. I gather that she was the same woman from pervious reviews about an old lady with a case of the grumpies, Mary Pillar. First, I called the office to inquire about all the forms I needed to make sure I had everything in order before I went in. My title transfer was a gift transfer from out of state, so it was a little more complicated than a typical title transfer. Mary answered the phone and was very rude and seemed very rushed to hang up. She completed our call just as a nice Austin business owner would by hanging up on me. I hope you sense the sarcasm. I then decided to go into the office, against my better judgment. There, Mary told me she could not accept my notarized faxed forms from my father in Missouri because they were faxed. I then tried to point out where I had highlighted on the instruction sheet for how to fill out the form that you could in fact fax these forms. She refused to look at these instruction sheets, and she told me I had an "attitude". I then decided it was time to let this lady know that she was a terrible woman, and that I have never been treated so poorly in my life and I work in a service industry. I then went to the city car title transfer office on airport blvd where I met the sweetest lady and told her of my encounter with the Car Title Nazi. She told me that the Car Title Nazi should probably retire because she has no idea of the current law and that faxed forms are 100% acceptable. It is pretty sad that I know the title laws better than she does and this is my 2nd title transfer in my life, and she has been doing this since dinosaurs roamed the earth. I now have my Texas title, no thanks to the Car Title Nazi. If you are that terrible to people, you really need to reevaluate what you are doing with your life that you hate so much. read more

Wow. I had no idea getting new license plates and registration stickers could be so easy and pleasant! For some strange reason, when I bought my car used, I never got new plates (all my registration was current though). Driving around with plates that aren't registered to anyone is a BIG no-no, as I found out when I got pulled over this weekend. The cop who informed me about how illegal this was, also recommended that I come out to Auto Title Services of Oak Hill to get it straightened out. It was the best tip ever. I was dreading standing in a government office, waiting to get my new plates, especially with a nine month old in tow. This place could not have been easier or quicker. I was in and out in about 5 minutes, and the whole thing cost me $16 (would have been $12 if I had cash). This is one of those gems I hate writing about, because I'm afraid it's going to be packed once everyone finds out about it. read more

Oh wow. According to my receipt, an employee named MPillar was having a terrible day, with an expression that can only be described as sucking on lemons while smelling something really horrible. She was extremely rude, literally threw my drivers license and my credit card back to me, interrupted me in mid sentence at least twice, and questioned my ability to pay the $800. If I wasn't such a happy person, this could have really ruined my day. Instead I vowed never to return and giggled to myself at how incredibly funny this would have been on an SNL skit. I absolutely love the lady that owns this place. Not only is she cool and solid as a rock (meaning she is always there when she says she will be there) but she has a cute shiht-zu (spelling?) dog that hangs out with her in her office. The dog is just as cool as she is. I went there a few days ago with NO wait, she got me right in and out, and it was such a great feeling of accomplishment, that I felt compelled to write about her even though I only go there once a year. Thank you for the other review about the location, yes, it is past the post office on the service road and if you are not looking you will miss it. It is close to a school (don't know the name) and there is only one way to get out, so follow the arrows. Also read the signs on the door because there are three small businesses in the same area as her, separated, of course by the doors. I saw someone walk into the door farthest from the street, that is the only reason I put that....they found it, though :). Please go see her and her little dog, too! :) read more

If you feel like being talked down to, and have a hankering for being treated like crap, then Oak Hill Title is the place for you. It's the worst treatment/customer services I've had in Austin in 15 years. I went in early on a Saturday to get my new antique car registered. I had just done it at Travis County Tax office in May for another antique vehicle, so I knew that I needed a signed original title, proof of insurance, and the 130-U Application for Title. Since it's an antique, no proof of inspection is necessary. The old woman behind the desk treated me like I was a high school dropout. She was rude, and condescending and insisted that I needed a vehicle inspection. Anyone can make a mistake. But when I called her just now to tell her that I had gone down to the Tax Office myself and registered the vehicle, and that no proof of inspection was necessary on an antique vehicle, she said a quick "Thank you" in a huff and hung up the phone on me. It's one thing to be wrong. I'm not perfect. But I was trying to do the right thing by educating her that she was mistaken on the inspection, and hopefully save someone else from having to take off work to register an antique car. But I guess some people are just too old and cantankerous to be humble and learn new things. I hope I never become like her when I get old, because it would be a miserable existence. I'll say a prayer for you lady. And a louder prayer for the poor people who attempt to give you their business. read more

This place is a little tricky to find if you don't know where you are going. It is on the access road of 290 just East of Monterey Oaks. So, if you are coming from the East, exit and take the turn around just before Monterey Oaks. Otherwise, just stay on the service road and it'll be on your right. (You can also take a gander at it via google photos so you know what to look for). Ok, this place is the bomb. If you have EVER had to go in because you let your registration lapse and waited FOREVER to get through the line, this place will seem like the holy land. They are a private company, but you can get your registration, plates, etc. It is a great place to contact if you have questions. You will get someone on the phone that is very experienced and can tell you instantly where to go and what to do. read more

Horrible service by grumpy unsmiling individuals. Austin is not known for its level of service, in particular to minorities. The woman who served me was absolutely beastly towards me. Unsmiling, a disdainful smirk on her face. Also be aware...they say their services cost a certain amount but then your card is charged more. The place was packed and the person who served me was very hard of hearing and not very nice. Her daughter, or so she said was in the other room, I peeked in and it looked like she was doing nothing. They need competition, based on the level of service, lack of professionalism and price misinformation they really do need a competitor. Someone who cares and makes their customers feel valued. My car is being shipped here from overseas, I will go to the DPS rather than deal with these folks I will never use them again and will be sure to tell everyone I know to stay away. I am not sure why they have deceptive price practices and are rude and grumpy but lesson learned. read more

While waiting I decided to check this place out on yelp and some of the information on here was pretty spot on. Let's just say Mary is direct and probably been doing this for a while. I'd et sick of it too. What I truly didn't like about the office was the smell of nasty dog. To me that is one of those smells like ass and cigarettes. It's gross. Animals have no place in a place of business. That's just my opinion. She processed everything in order and was quick and prompt. That's exactly what I came in for and nothing else. Yup, as helpful as others have said. I had my insurance faxed in and she had it sitting behind her. Said she couldn't get me a temporary permit without the original title. I said if I get pulled over then I can just let them know she wasn't able to get me one without the original title. Suddenly she could sell me one. I was told $33 over the phone, she charged me $33 and I paid cash to avoid any conflict :) curt over the phone as well. It's too bad she has allowed her attitude to not allow her to smile :/ Was told by someone in town that she is always this was but is helpful and nice. They said she is German. Wouldn't handle an out-of-state title transfer that had a beneficiary listed. I had the other state regs. I had Texas regs. Was told the beneficiary must sign (even though she's not an owner). Was dealt with very rudely. 10 mins at the Travis Co office and no issues. I guess if you have a transaction simple enough for a child and feel like being treated like one, go here. read more
