Hopefully my review will save voters some time. This tax office is tucked away on the westside off a farm-to-market road. The area feels up-and-coming, with small shopping centers popping up, but fair warning: people drive like they're running from Satan. Like they're late for something, so if you're heading north turning into the complex, expect to miss the entrance and loop back. The entrance is NOT obvious. Look near Home Depot. Plenty of parking once you get there. Inside, the office is quiet, clean, and calm, with a reasonable number of people handling various tax and registration business. You check in at a kiosk and get your place in line via text. ***Important note for voters***: there is no kiosk option for voter registration or voter info updates. Don't select "registration." You'll be waiting forever behind people needing BIG THINGS . Instead, grab a voter registration form, fill it out, and then walk straight up to the counter to turn it in. No line. No wait. Don't be scared to do it, either. I only figured this out by selecting "information only" the second time back up to the kiosk and the info lady THEN told me this. There's zero signage explaining any of this, so I would like to save people a lot of time. Once I did it the right way, I was in and out quickly. I went during my lunch break and made it home in time to clock back in. Mission accomplished. Easy visit, efficient staff, and lots of parking. Just wish the voter registration process was explained better upfront. read more

Probably one of the only few satisfactory and painless experiences I've had with a government entity. My parents are moving out of the county and wanted to give me their car so we had to get a title transfer. Took a ticket and probably waited for like 20 min? This was on a Tuesday afternoon, in the middle of the day. Karen is the one who helped us. She was super calm, friendly, and patient. Gave us the papers we needed to fill out, we gave her the papers she needed, and maybe 20-25 min later we were all set. She even asked us some more personal questions to lighten the mood, and upon leaving I had a few unrelated questions to ask her (about a title transfer but for a different vehicle I had), and she happily answered everything and even gave me a little print out of what the estimated taxes might cost. Getting my title transferred was stressful. This process was more complicated than I thought. Make sure you double and triple check your paperwork before coming in. The staff was friendly and fast, I ended up coming in three times because my paperwork was wrong and each time, I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. Lucked into a fairly close parking spot as our reason for going was for a handicap placard. Although there were lots of people waiting, our number was posted a soon as we signed in. Everyone was courteous and friendly. read more

Unhelpful, inefficient, uncaring, and predatory. Useless by design. First, some background. The Travis County Tax Office, which collects property taxes assessed by the Travis County Appraisal District, seems to only communicate with that bureaucratic travesty once a month. That's right, Bruce Elphant's Tax office only gets information from the people who assess every homeowners tax bill once a month about exemptions. The Appraisal District screwed up my account without notifying me months ago and, if they get to it, will send the corrected tax information to the Tax Office on Dec. 7 with thousands of other files three weeks before the due date for taxes. So now the part about the Travis County Tax Office, the subject of this review. First, two of the three people at their office whom I have spoken to about this gave me incorrect information that has hurt me. Second, they seem to have invested nothing in crucial communications with other related agencies and seem not to care who this hurts. If I get lucky, they will receive the correct information about my tax bill in a month. They refuse to contact the Appraisal District on my behalf. If I don't get lucky and my account is not corrected, I am expected to pay nearly $7000 that I don't owe with no real assurance if or when they will refund it. If I don't pay by the deadline, they will fine me something like $1000, again with no assurance that the fine will be waived because TCAD screwed up my account and cares no more than this office. So, Bruce, I have voted for you on every opportunity since Nelda Wells Spears retired. You have not earned my votes. You failed. Next election I will write in Kim Kardashian, hoping for better results. read more

Amazing staff and facility. I was really stressing over this trip because in the past in my home state it has always been a negative experience. You just sign it at a Kiosk and select the reason for your visit. They then text you to let you know they are ready for you. Plenty of seats and short wait. I would never normally rate a tax office but I have to give a shout out to my man William Glover! I had a large task registering a company vehicle and he was so patient and helpful making sure I filled and signed everything correct. I thought I was not going to leave with plates but I did and was so happy for his patience and help. He deserves a promotion. read more

We got our tag within 10 min in drive thru window. It was quick and easy! After I attempted to get it at pflugerville location twice and someone advised to try this office I was incredibly satisfied, even I had to drive further. read more

Needed to get a temporary disabled parking placard--the northwest office on 620 opened a year or so ago. It is hard to find in the trees between Home Depot and Grandview Hills entry in an old bank building. Worth finding! There was no line, great service, friendly people. Easy parking, and even has drive through. Highly recommend; couldn't have been better. read more
