I replaced that camshaft sensor, and then a new code came up for the crankshaft position sensor, which I also replaced. After all that work, I was still having problems like a rough idle and hesitant starts. While out shopping, I decided to stop at O'Reilly Auto Parts on Maynardville Pike in Knoxville, and honestly, that ended up being kismet. Jade immediately stepped in to help me. She brought out the OBDII scanner to check what was going on after all the work I had done. Unfortunately, it would not connect or pull any codes. Then things got worse. The SUV would not start at all, and I was completely stuck in the parking lot with no way home. After talking through everything, Jade suggested trying another camshaft position sensor (the one I bought was a cheap aftermarket on) to see if that would fix the issue. She helped me get the tools I needed and made sure the install went smoothly. It only took about 20 minutes, and I did the whole job right there in front of the store with her support and friendly chatter the whole way through. I cannot express how grateful I am for that. Jade genuinely cared, and in this day and age, when humanity feels bleak and lost sometimes, that means a lot. Jade did not just do her job. She showed real empathy and compassion, which is something the world needs more of. While helping me, she even shared some of what she is personally dealing with, and it created a real connection that you just do not get anymore. You all seriously need to give her a raise, a promotion and giant thank you, from me, I mean that. The last time I was there, the mechanic kept coming into the lobby to give me updates, explain what they were doing, and let me know how much longer it would be. That kind of communication and care is rare. What really stands out is that they're not trying to upsell or squeeze money out of you. They focus on doing solid work and taking care of their customers. In fact, every time I've been there, my final bill has come out lower than what they originally quoted--which never happens anywhere else. I was referred here through family, and now I see why most of their business comes from word of mouth. Once you go here, you don't really want to go anywhere else!

Not only was the much needed brake service on my wife's GX470 reasonably priced and professionally performed, the personal attention while waiting from Mike, the manager, was invaluable.: I told him about a tire on the vehicle that continuously lost air, but every tire dealer/shop could not diagnose the cause. He suggested having them unseat the tire from the wheel, reseat it and replace the valve stem. Bingo! That fixed the issue permanently. I also told him about my Chevy S10 that wouldn't crank after replacing the fuel lines to the fuel pump and that local mechanics were perplexed. He suggested that I replace the fuel filter, even though it had already been replaced recently. Bingo again! This one visit saved me lots of money and relieved lots of headaches. Their style is more casual than corporate and that is great for some people and makes others nervous if that's what you're used to, but they're all about fixing anything that is a true mechanical issue or safety hazard, but won't ever push you on anything cosmetic or non-essential, which is great if you're not a millionaire with a car budget to match! They're all much more into doing than talking at this shop, so if I had to give constructive criticism I'd say communicating more about the car's issues/options would make people feel better, but if you have to choose between a mechanic that will talk to you or one who will just fix what's wrong at a very fair/low price, I'll take the latter every single day. :)

I was pulled over at the gas station to the left of Express Auto Center trying to fill my tire with…read moreair. It was noticeably flat but i could not find any punctures so i assumed it could be refilled with the air pump machine. Well, the machine would fill my other 3 tires but not the one that was flat. I even had a nice group of people test my pressure and they believed there must be a puncture. I was honestly in a pretty bad situation. Had to be somewhere pretty soon, and couldn't really afford to drive on it and ruin the rims as it was super close to being rim on pavement. The group that checked my gauge mentioned i should try to walk over to Express Auto to see if they could patch it. I walked in, and was immediately greeted by the owner and the friendly workers. I explained I was stuck on the other side of their shop. Without hesitation, he sent me an awesome guy to come look at my car with me. He jacked up my wheel at the air pump and literally carried my wheel back with him to the store. The whole time I was there they never tried to sell me on anything and I could tell they genuinely wanted to help. After only like 10 minutes with no appointment, the man who helped me with my tire walked back over to my car and explained that the tire i had mustve been sealed wrong because it was leaking air. There were no punctures so I wouldnt have been able to figure it out. He said that he tested it and resealed it with some adhesive and made sure it did not continue to deflate. Jacked up the car, and put my tire back on. The whole time I felt like i was a hassle because they did not have to help me at all really. I go back to the store to thank them and see how much it would cost and the owner tells me that I am good he does not want any payment...I couldnt believe it. How friendly and helpful they were, let alone that he wouldnt even charge me? I returned to the store to try and give him at least some cash because it was so helpful and i greatly appreciated everyone there. He refused. He said to give it to some of those who may be in more need. Honestly made my day and reminded me there are still good people in this world. Ok. I have a transmission issue…read more Brought it in to determine the root-cause. They found an old (not cleared) thermostat problem that I fixed a year ago. It didn't totally close, thus not allowing the Cat o get up to temperature quickly enough. I replaced for $25 and 45 minutes, easy. Check-engine light disappeared. But obviously the code locked in. And also they said I needed a full replacement transmission. Which I don't deny may be required. , sorta. I am 71 years old, done professional car work since 17. The ONLY reason I am not doing this myself is age. But that said, before I would tear down anything I would already know what component is bad. A valve, cam sensor, etc. My symptoms are of a valve-body stuck valve, causing the clutch(s) to not fully engage. Thus I wanted a more concise explanation for why I should give them $5,000 - $6,000 to replace the entire Xmission. I really should have had a talk with the trained mechanic that could go into depth about the detailed reason it is giving me problems. But I got the worker at the register explaining the estimate to me. I have 100% confidence she has ZERO true mechanical knowledge/training past what to say. She should have called the Tech to talk to me. Had that happened I would have set an appointment to have it replaced. But given the weak thermostat ($330) ghost diag, I had zero confidence about the rest of their work. Reminds me of "give a kid a hammer and everything looks like a nail".

I coordinated a ride to be picked up after dropping off the vehicle for 4 new tires. After receiving a text saying that the vehicle is ready, I coordinated another ride to be dropped off to the shop only to be told that the vehicle is actually not ready. Once the tires were installed, it triggers a text to customers saying that the vehicle is ready. However, this is a false alert as it now has to go for an alignment. As I'm sitting in the lobby, I watched another customer show up after receiving the same text message and was told the same thing. They were not happy about it and left again. Your employees are well aware that this is a communication problem. Please make customers aware up front so that they do not drive back prematurely.
