I took my 2011 Juke to Rusty Wallace to get the 60,000 mile service done. When I told them who I was and confirmed why I was there, I was asked if I had been told how much the service would cost. I replied that I had not gotten a specific price because I was having a hard time getting an accurate quote for the correct services over the phone with any of the local Nissan dealerships (although one dealership had quoted me around $350 for the service not including an oil change or tire rotation because I had already had those completed). The service rep replied that she could tell me the total price in a moment, she just needed to add it up. Well, she starts naming the various procedures associated with the 60,000 mile service. As she is naming the procedures and prices, I'm adding them up in my head. The price quickly added up to over $600, if not $700. At this point I stopped her and stated that the price was far more than I expected and that another dealership had quoted me roughly $350 without the oil change and tire rotation. She asked exactly which services they would be doing for that price. I told her that they did not give me a breakdown of the services but I had requested a 60,000 service so I assumed that the quote was for whatever needed to be done on my vehicle at 60,000 miles. The service rep replied that they probably were not really going to do everything associated with the 60,000 mile service. She said that her quote was for everything that the service/maintenance book for my car stated was required at 60,000 miles. She told me that the price could be reduced a little if I opted out of a "flush" for my braking system and only got a drain and refill. This helped a little but the price was still more than i was able to pay. I told her to not do the CVT flush and fill which was supposed to cost $200 or $300.
As far as the work done, it was fine. However, later I started to update my maintenance records in my CarFax app, at which point I noticed I that they had sold and attempted to sell services that I did not need at 60,000 miles. I was assured that she was only quoting what the book suggested. The book does not suggest a "flush" on the brake fluid, only a replace. She sold me a flush and refill on my coolant system, the recommended interval of the factory filled coolant is 105,000 miles, and every 75,000 miles after that. The book does not call for a flush of my CVT system only a drain and refill if needed. They are supposed to inspect the fluid deterioration data using a Consult to determine if the CVT fluid should be replaced. The rep did no such test, she was trying to sell me on the flush and refill without even looking at my car. She would have sold me on these not needed services had I had the money at the time. I'm grateful that I had not saved more money. I hate to think of how many people have been cheated out of their hard earned money due to the dishonest business practices being performed at Rusty Wallace Nissan in Knoxville. read more
