I brought my car in based on an issue previously "fixed" by a competing auto shop. My son is a student at IU and needed to have his catalytic converter replaced on his Pontiac G5. Finding a mechanic is stressful enough, let alone having to locate one long distance. I did my homework and reached out to 4 different garages in the area who provided me with 4 different quotes. Prior to making my decision, Adam and Floyd encouraged me to speak directly to the gentleman who performs the diagnostics. He explained everything to me in detail and basically restated what my local mechanic had told me over Christmas break. Even though AutoChoice was not the cheapest quote, I decided to go with them and I am very glad that I did. He let me know very quickly that it would be beyond the value of the vehicle to get it running again. He then advised me on how to dispose of the car and recommended a local junkyard. He graciously allowed me to leave the car on his lot until I was able to arrange the sale. Four years ago I arrived in Bloomington with nearly 100,000 on the odometer. Even though there are plenty of repair shops closer to the IU campus, word of mouth told me me AutoChoice was worth the trip. Never have reviews been more right. After countless experiences with the AutoChoice crew, it's the last one that really earns them all 5-stars. After a repair that didn't seem to stick, they held true to their warranty promises and replaced the part again. At 140,000 miles, sometimes you wonder it the next repair will be the last. After some independent research, I decided things still weren't right, and decided to let the guys at AutoChoice have another crack at it. Not only did they check the parts I asked them about, but triple checked their previous repairs. When the car finally came down off the jack, it ran PERFECTLY. Now I'm thinking there may still be another 140,000 miles left in her. The kicker - even after all the extra diagnostics, they told me to leave the credit card at home. There was a box of bits they had replaced, but in the end they wanted me to be 100% satisfied with original repair. You got it guys. This is the place you send your mother who is afraid of repair shops to. I'm with the other reviewers - there is never an overcharge and the customer service is top notch. Spread the word. read more

Very very expensive. Paid almost $700 to get brakes fixed also they take a while for them to fix.

My ignition had to be replaced and I was stuck hopping rides to and from work during tornado weather. I had my car towed to them at 10:00 AM and they had it ready for me by 3:30 PM! They pushed to make the deadline so that I wouldn't be inconvenienced for another day. Adam was helpful and sympathetic and the car was cleaner when I got it back than when it was towed! I used Autochoice a few months back to replace my exhaust manifold on my F250 truck and replace all of the spark plugs. Honest, nice. I went to Autochoice and ask for the price quote of changing the control arm and sway end bar because the dealer said I need to replace it. However, Autochoice said that it is not a big problem, and told me I do not need to replace it because there are just the boot torn. It saves me a lot of money:)) read more

Better watch out! I chose this repair company based upon its reviews and I did my homework carefully before taking my car to their shop. They did a bait and switch job and I feel like I have been ripped off! I first called Auto Choice Service Center for an estimate on a front brake job. I was told that a front brake job usually costs $179.99 including pads. I was also told that rotors would be extra so I bought the rotors on EBay.I took my car in for the work and shortly after I dropped it off, I received a phone call saying that the brake pads cost $180 and the total bill would be $310. I knew the price for the pads was super high because I had priced them earlier. However, I had to have my car the next day so I agreed to have it repaired. I also agreed because they would have charged me for the work they had already completed and I didn't need the extra hassle or expense. I then re-checked the price of the pads. On eBay, I could buy them for as little as $40. At O'Reilly Auto parts (2 miles away) I could have bought the pads for $46.99 with a lifetime warranty (the ones they put on only have a 24 month warranty). The bottom line is that at the worst, they got me for $130. At best, they didn't do their homework and bought the most expensive pads without giving me an option or asking me how I wanted to proceed. I'm never going back there and I would advise other people to get everything in writing and to use extreme caution when dealing with this repair facility. read more

Ladies, I highly recommend using AutoChoice Service Center. I have been using them for 4 years and have never felt because I am female, that they took advantage of me for lack of auto knowledge. The guys at AutoChoice are the most honest and conscientious auto technicians in this town. As a Bloomington native I have dealt with many 'so called' mechanics in my 40+ yrs of driving but these guys are the real deal. I hadn't needed auto repairs in a few years so I was pleasantly surprised last week to see the same people working there. I think that alone says a lot about a business. And the fact that they've been in town for nearly two decades is pretty reassuring as well. Shout out to Adam who was such a patient and respectful listener as I described my current vehicle issues. As a female I have endured a lot of condescending attitudes in auto repair shops. Not the case at AutoChoice. As far as I'm concerned they are FirstChoice auto. I realized on a long road trip that my brakes were needing some attention. I called ahead from the road and got in to Autochoice the following morning. The brakes were shot. needed new pads, rotors and calipers. They took the time to show me the signs of the problems and loaded all the old parts into my car so I could show my husband when I returned home. They found a couple other issues that they did not press me to fix, but that we will get done here. I brought my car there (based on positive yelp reviews) to get an electrical problem diagnosed and fixed, and to have some brake issues diagnosed and fixed. They did an excellent job. The shop is definitely a bit out of the way, so they keep their customers through good and honest service, not through being in a convenient location. A different automotive place in Bloomington mis-diagnosed my electrical problem (I suspected it was mis-diagnosed, so I brought it to Autochoice), so I was pleased to see better work done here. The staff seemed friendly and honest, and we discussed the details of the repair, as well as future maintenance that might be done in the next few thousand miles. I've only had this one experience, but I plan to come back in the future, and I'll update this review if anything sours the experience. read more

My car has issues with its electronic window mechanisms and if a window is rolled down, it gets stuck in the down position and needs to be manually raised. Auto Choice tried to tell me that it was going to cost over $400 to have my window raised. This didn't seem right to me whatsoever. Following their estimate, I took my car to Perfection Auto Glass instead, who raised my window for free and offered to repair the mechanisms for only $80. I will never trust Auto Choice with my business again. read more
