    I had a check engine light on. I had a diagnostic check perforned at another shop. The diagnostic…read morecheck indicated that bank one sensor was bad. I watch the mechanic run the diagnostic. It took about five minutes. Advance auto did a diagnostic test which showed the same diagnostic. They also did a vehicle check which I did ask for or authorize. They did't find anything else other then the original bank one sensor. They charge me $155.00 for a diagnostic that I had already received from another shop for free. They never mentioned the vehicle inspection or the charge for it until the vehicle was ready for pickup. Never again.

They will do more than you ask for, which may annoy or may delight, depending on your personal values. They may be slightly over-priced. Long story: take a look at Jennifer's review from 3 months ago. Matt responded to that review saying, "I never intended to be dismissive.." Maybe he doesn't realize it. Matt talked down to me in several conversations about my car. He likes to give his credentials, and expound on his extensive experience, and he will be impatient, short, and didactic. He will dismiss your thoughts. It's hard to get a word in edgewise. One may say that this is less important if they give top notch service. I myself will tolerate poor treatment of customers if that is the case. It does make it more difficult though, to build trust, if you treat customers with impatience and condescension. I had a failing battery and wanted to know if the alternator and starter were failing as well. I had to push to get those answers, and actually I still don't know about the starter. Allen at O'Reilly auto parts on West 3rd street was much more friendly and just as knowledgeable, if not more so, than Matt. I could have gotten better service there with better treatment, for $60 less, and gotten a 4-year warranty instead of the 3-year warranty I got with Advanced Auto Care. As with other customers, they also did work that I didn't ask for. Maybe that's a good thing. They want to sell me four new tires. I don't trust them. Maybe they deserve my trust. You have to decide if I'm too paranoid, or if there is something lacking with this group, but I don't think I will be returning.

I've upgraded them to Great for this reason, they honor expensive warranties. The background is a $2200 brake job done in May. It oddly required taking apart a huge amount of parts on a diesel van. Sadly, the same symptom appeared, if intermittent. I returned the van for diagnosis. The part they installed was defective. They honored the warranty. This also required them to change the oil for free (must be drained to access the bad part, a long story). Cost $0, as the part was indeed defective, a brake booster diaphragm had broken, again, in a most inaccessible place. That, to me, was honorable. They stood behind expensive work, and it's work not easily done because 1) it's a diesel van with no room in the engine compartment and 2) repairing this part-- and blame Ford-- requires tearing out most of the front of the engine compartment to get to the bad part, drain the oil, and re-assemble with very little room. The tl;dr: Upgraded because of an honored warranty claim due to a bad part they'd provisioned. Stellar.

I love the responsive, spirited ride that sports tuning gives me. And even though my first Toyota came from another, non-Toyota dealer, Royal South welcomed me and provided us fantastic service. In late 2022, I got curious about the new Camry hybrids with their very uniquely TOYOTA ECVT drive train. So, I test drove and traded for the 2023 Camry Hybrid SE Nightshade model. VERY nice ride. In the meantime, my lady starts looking for new vehicle options. She's really special. So I start showing her the Toyota Camry experience... 'cause she deserves some of the best things in life. As time goes by, she's impressed, but a little afraid of it (as one should be), so maybe she'll get something a little smaller. So, we're looking around wherever we go. And New year's eve comes around... and we're out car shopping. We walk in to one dealership and they have this beautiful 2025 Camry Hybrid XSE in the middle of the show room, like 3 cars deep from the door to outside. Don't you just love the way life can turn kind of magical sometimes? I mean, you still have to work out all the details to connect with reality, but somehow all the intent, understanding, trust, and motivation that drives these things just jiggles around and falls together so clearly. So, we're looking at all the sweet features on this lovely thing and I ask her if she'd like to test drive it. And right then, we did a lot of talking and negotiating between each other right there. And we test drove that car and bought it, right on the spot, two hours away from home. Back home in Bloomington, we sometimes long for a sentimental visit with our very nice dealer of origin, but Royal South Toyota provides our service with the highest level of professionalism and integrity.     Den of Thieves…read more After having a windshield trim piece replaced only a couple of months ago, it flew off on I-70 near 465. "BANG!". I wasn't sure what happened until I got home. No biggy, I already had some other maintenance needs so I would have them replace it. Stuff happens, right? Nobody's perfect. They told me that since I didn't stop to retrieve the piece, they would have no idea what happened, and wanted to charge me another $498 to replace their shoddy work!!! (A year before, they wanted to charge me almost $900 for the same work. They said that the windshield had to come out; it didn't!). The maintenance guy on the phone, Bob, kept telling me "It's just policy..." and "It could have happened in a carwash!". He said that last part twice. So THEY are telling me that their maintenance is so bad that it won't withstand a carwash? Why didn't they say that BEFORE I paid for it the first time? How can they charge $170+/hr Labor for ridiculously inferior craftsmanship? Why are they treating a 13 year customer like a criminal? I don't care if I have to drive to Kentucky for my next maintenance, I will NEVER give Royal Toyota (or its ownership) another dime of my family's money. Completely disgusted.

Every time I visit, they perform a thorough inspection and clearly explain what may need attention in the near future, including the remaining life on brakes, tires, and other components. I have complete trust in their team and have never felt pressured to purchase services I didn't need. Today, on my way to a meeting, my tire pressure light came on. Since I work in sales, I didn't want to risk stopping at a gas station just before an appointment. I was close to the west side Meineke, so I stopped in to see what it would cost to check my tire pressure. EJ was incredibly professional, friendly, and genuinely happy to help--which you don't find everywhere these days. The team checked all my tires at no charge, added air to the one that was slightly low, and sent me on my way. Exceptional customer service and a great company overall. I would confidently send my mom there and know she would be well taken care of. Thank you, Meineke--we need more amazing businesses like this in our community.
