I had an atypical experience at Autolenders, but one that still needs to be shared. My wife and I were in the market for a used car, after searching for a week at various new and used car dealers we found ourselves on Route 37 in Toms River doing the classic dealer shuffle. We walked around the lot at Autolenders and didn't really see anything that we really liked that was in our price range (we were looking for a luxury car with 60-80 miles), Autolenders had some nice vehicles but the mileages were low and the price a just bit out of our reach. As we were about to leave, our salesmen, Bill S. said, "hang on, I just received a car in a trade-in and I think you might like it." He brought the car out, a gorgeous jet black 2006 BMW 525i in near Mint condition. The car was making a weird noise and had a sensor malfunction lamp lit on the dash. My wife and I informed Bill that we really did not want to a car that has any problems, as our last vehicle broke down and left us in the lurch. Bill S. assured us that they were only brake sensors and that if I wanted the vehicle, the sensors would be taken care of. I should state now, this was an AS-IS (no warranty) vehicle and not part of Autolenders usual business model, which is low mileage vehicles off of their first lease, usually 2-5 years old. We took the car home for the evening on a trial, (we almost walked away, but we figured, why not). The car was fine, the night we had it, (the brake sensor light is on the entire trial). The next day, we brought the car back and were prepared to make an offer. We would buy the car as long as all the lights on the dash were taken care of. The General Manager Stratis M. informed me that all would be taken care of and the car would be ready tomorrow. When I picked up the car and drove it off the lot, the brake sensor lamp lit right back up! I immediately brought the car back and told Stratis that this was unacceptable. Stratis agreed and had his in-house mechanic take a look at the vehicle to determine what was wrong. I was told that it was not the brake sensors as before, but a Steering Angle Sensor in the ABS braking system that was malfunctioning. As I stated previously, I never checked the codes on the dash and took Autolenders at their word that it was only the brake sensors. With this in mind I was told that it was the first time anyone there had seen such an error with the vehicle. As the vehicle was AS-IS it would not be covered, as it was not detailed in the signed contract. Of course, this was upsetting, so I voiced my concerns to Autolenders cooperate headquarters via an email. Within the hour Stratis called me and asked me to return as soon as possible so he could address me and my wife concerns. While driving the vehicle in the day which took place in the interim, the BMW overheated while driving down the highway (pulled over waited five minutes and drove the next day with zero issues, faulty water pump). Now, I am scared of this vehicle! Returning to Autolenders the next day, Stratis informs me again that it is an AS-IS vehicle and is entitled to nothing under law. He then informs me that after speaking to the owner of the company, Mr. Brad Wimmer, Autolenders has decided to undertake the cost of the Steering Angle Sensor Repair, just out of loyalty to a customer! Unfortunately, but understandably, they would not be able to cover the cost of the faulty water pump. Even here though Stratis said he would work with me to get the repair down in-house for as cheap as possible. Let me stop here and address the obvious, yes, Autolenders might have known about the steering angle sensor the whole time, but I highly doubt it. I was a medic for six years in the ARMY and served two tours in Iraq, during that tenure I got to know people pretty well, and it's not hard to spot a liar. And even if, the point is mute because they repaired it with OEM parts and even lent me a "lot car" for a week so I didn't have to splurge for a rental again ($300 savings). The water pump issue only occurred once in three day of driving so I am positive that they were ignorant of that as well. After a few days, the new sensor and water pump we put in and the total cost of the repair was a little over $1200, roughly the same price I was quoted at the dealer, though I am sure it would have been about $1500-1800, when it was all said and done over at BMW. I have to say that when buying a used car you always expect issues, and this BMW certainly has more than a few . At the end of the day a few lessons have been learned, the first being, never, ever buy a European luxury car for more than $5000 without a warranty! Just not worth the risk unless you're a mechanic. The second is that I would most assuredly return to Autolenders to purchase another vehicle. read more

RIP OFF I was very disappointed it didn't say Vroom. I was offered $14,700 by Email. Then after an inspection Via FaceTime. Great news Inspector demeaned it Perfect. They reduced their Offer by $1,000. If I wasn't so concerned about Covvid 19, I would have stopped right there! I was Confused, the address put me in front of Lease-Liquidators. So I Called Vroom.com back, I was told they had been opened since 9 am. Again I was assured the entire Transaction would be handled outdoors. I found 6-8 people sitting in the back of the sales floor in the Manager's office eating Bagels & Coffee. I was mocked when I mentioned I wanted this Transaction Out Side and the Place was Dark & your open since 9am? I was expecting a Man conducting business outside or at least have their Lights on! This week, the township of just over 100,000 rose to the top of the state's list of municipalities with the most positive cases as a percentage of population -- 54.4 per 1,000 residents, according to an NJ Spotlight News analysis, or just over 5% of the township. read more

What a disappointment it was buying a car from Auto Lenders in Lakewood. First let me say I would have only given them 0 stars if I could but the the service department brought their score up one star. Before I bought my car I had at least 6 different people trying to"help" me with buying a car. Once I bought it and had problems none would respond to me but one person's assistant contacted me. Not sure where to start. First of all I know they advertise cares come with new tires and brakes, Well that is totally false I had neither. Next forget about a lifetime engine warranty, did not get that either. Did not get a 6 month bumper to bumper warranty either. All I got was a 6 month or 6000 mile warranty for the power train. Lets start with the tires, when I first looked at it I asked the salesman about them because they looked unusual, he said Camaros all have those type. The day I drove it home it came up that the tires were low. I tried filling up the tires, but it kept happening. So I brought it back a couple days later and were told there were no leaks, but that they were Summer tires and would keep leaking air when cold. If I planned on driving anytime besides the Summer I would need to buy all season tires. So I would up spending over $1,300 on new all season tires. Would have been nice to know this up front. Before I bought the car I asked the salesman if it passed the 100+ point inspection and he said everything was good. I asked if all belts, hoses and fluids were checked and he said yes. Well another lie. After I got home a couple days later I was checking the oil and it was dirty and low. Brake fluid was also low. Also the first day it rained I then noticed the wipers were ripped. Could not even drive till I bought new wipers. The one person who responded to me offered me a fee oil change and this was for ALL the problems I had. It cost me more money to take off from work the the oil change was worth. So should you decide to buy a car from Auto Lender do not believe anything you are told unless it can be proven and make sure you go over the car with a fine tooth comb. read more

0 stars!! Do yourself a favor and go to a real car dealership for a used car. Autolenders does a subpar inspection (if any) on the used vehicles. The car we purchased for my 17 daughter was back at their shop 5 times within 1 week of receiving it. The car needed all new brakes, a brand new radio and several other items that were broken. This car was obviously never inspected. Autolenders did replace the brakes and other items at their cost. Good sales, but horrible post sales experience. Purchase vehicle in Lakewood and had it delivered to another location. First, no one called me to tell me it was there. When I went to pick it up, no one knew I was coming and didn't even check the car or me and just handed me the keys. The vehicle had damage to the rear bumper and was never cleaned up on the outside - still had was/compound material that they promised would be cleaned up before I got it. After I called about the bumper damage, had to wait another week to get a service appointment. I had to call and make the appointment, even though a manager promised someone would call me. I emailed the salesperson, manager and VP and still haven't heard back a week later. WOULD NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN. read more

Traded in a wonderful car for a lemon - Everyone seems nice until the deal is finalized & no one cares. I purchased an extended warranty and was assured that it would bring me peace of mind in the event something when wrong with the vehicle. Little did I know that everything is wrong with this vehicle. Did they know that this car had underlying issues? On the 3rd day I had it , it needed to be towed for service due to an engine problem . I get it back a few days later and I notice the passenger side mirror is hanging off . When I brought it to the dealers attention, I was told i should have noticed it before I left the lot. A year later ( mirror still broken) and now my Emissions system fails - I bring it to auto-lenders and brushed off once again and now the issue is on Honda. I was given no ETA for the repair to be done , not offered a loaner and told if I need a car , I can drive my broken one until the parts come in , "although its an option it might not safe" .. Well, why recommend that i do that?!? Never again will I buy a car from this crap dealer, I will be sure to tell everyone I come across about the lack of service and leave my thoughts on every social media platform with the hope that no one makes the same mistake I did and buy from auto-lenders.. AutoLenders has ghosted me. Working with John and Mickey out of the Service Center as been frustrating and disappointing. Their failure to follow up with a solution to my issue has me rethinking my purchase with AutoLenders. Expected more from this company. I am going on 4 weeks since hearing anything from them. No call or email has been responded to. Since driving the car off the lot, there has been a squeaking noise present that AutoLenders cannot pinpoint. They thought it was the rear shocks, so they replaced both of them (incorrectly because they didn't do them in pairs). THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. So they replaced both shocks for no reason and now the shocks, which only have 6,000 on them are leaking. Shocks should last 50,000 miles, not 6,000. They gave me faulty shocks for no reason and won't take responsibility. Why should I pay for your mistake, your faulty parts and your inability to fix an issue with the car that was present before I even purchased it? The kicker is I am still within my extended warranty policy and no one at this place seems to care. You might want to look elsewhere if you are in the market for a pre-owned vehicle. This place will sell you a car with issues and then charge you to fix them! read more

I recently purchased a pre-owned Honda CRV Ex from this location. I had first tried MULTIPLE Honda Dealerships, and was completely put off by the bait and switch sales tactics. They advertise a price online, slap on a pile of fees once you are there that bring the cost wildly up, and are rude when you try to talk them down. I found this place by accident because it was right down the road from another dealership, but from the start, they were happy to give me the out the door price of the vehicle over the phone (which Honda refuses to do, as if I'm an idiot and will be tricked into paying more if you don't tell me beforehand?) The salesman, Marcus, was much more friendly than any of the salespeople I encountered at dealerships. He allowed us to test a few cars - even getting some from the back of the lot that had to be moved from behind other parked cars. I felt no pressure whatsoever from him to buy. Once we had tested a few, he was happy to go online and look at their other locations to find the exact car, color and mileage I was looking for (they have quite a few options at various locations). He had it delivered the following day. The whole experience was very straightforward. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that I didn't notice until the following morning that there was a small chip in the windshield, which was obviously disappointing after just buying a car. However, when I contacted them about it, they took care of it immediately: sent someone to my house to seal the chip so it wouldn't spread. I've only had the car a few days now, but am so far very pleased with the whole experience, and assuming everything goes well I will only shop here for cars in the future. Highly recommend avoiding dealerships and giving them a try. The car also comes with a 6 month free warranty. read more

We drove an hour and a half to see a 2002 Lexus 450sc with 53473 miles for $19999. they had listed and is currently still for sale. from the outside the car looked great. The minute we opened up the door a strong smell of mold came from the vehicle. There was a guy who was hanging around out front waiting to see our response to the mold. When I confronted the manager about the mold smell they stood there and lied to me. I noticed that the mold was coming from the insides of the seat and growing through the leather as you could see mold spots all around the bottom of the seats as well as in the carpet. It was clear that this car had been flooded at some point in order to have this kind of a mold issue the mold was growing all the way to the top of the seats. I discussed my upset with a manager who apologized up and down and assured me that the vehicle would be pulled off the lot and taken out of inventory. That they do not sell those types of vehicles and did not realize that that car had a mold problem. As you can imagine I was surprised to find a week later that anouther sales person called to follow up and let me know that the vehicle I had called about was still for sale and was interested in coming out and taking a test drive. I explain to him the entire situation only to have him hang up on me. If I could give this dealership and this company and negative star review there would not be enough stars. There is no WOW factor to be found at Auto Lenders and the Lexus cars are NOT "Lexus certified" which as you carefully shop their website, you will find them to be, at best, very ambiguous about. Purchased a Lexus 330 which as it turns out had a few spots of extremely well concealed minor body dents, dings and scratches. Let us just say the lipstick was well applied and hid a multitude of sins. Would have preferred they were transparent and bared all for me to see so that I could make the best most informed decision or at a minimum told me what they were and where the defects could be found so I knew what to expect after several car washes. It was like watching a striptease every time I drove through the car wash, I wondered what would be revealed next and it was never pretty. My biggest gripe...have been bombarded to death the past 18-months by Extended Warranty companies since purchasing my Lexus from Auto Lenders. Either the dealership or one of their employees sold my contact information including my work blackberry which was the dead giveaway as I almost never, never, ever give out that number but let my guard down when working to close the deal. When I called the dealership on it, the president of the company gave me complete and total denial...told me it had to be the DMV! When was the last time anyone gave their phone number to the DMV when registering a car much less their work blackberry...idiots! When I asked one of the Extended Warranty companies where they got my work blackberry number, I was told, why from Auto Lenders...gee really...you think! Overall, not the worst car buying experience I have suffered...turns out to be a stereotypical used car dealership that one would expect. Guess I was hoping for better and didn't get it. I went into Auto Lenders in Lakewood and met Joel Defreitas. He was incredibly kind and did not jump down our throats. He helped me look at cars I thought I would like and narrowed what my price range should be. I left with a better understanding of what I could afford and what would be a good car for my needs. Beware of the Vehicle Service Contract. I purchased two vehicles back in Oct 2016. One was a 2014 Jeep and the other was a 2013 Chrysler 200. The 200 had 36k miles on it The finance manager offered me a Service contract for 3 years and 60,000 miles. (At least that's how it was represented to me) I figured because the Chrysler was a year older and had a few more miles on it I would take advantage of the service Contract. Seemed like a bargain at the time. So I paid $2000 extra for the comfort of having coverage I recently had a problem that required $1000 repair to my front struts I called Allstate to start the process for a claim but was told that I was out of coverage because my mileage was over 60K. I explained that the contract clearly stated that the term for the warranty on a "pre-owned" car was 36 month and 60k miles. It also stated that for "pre-owned cars the 60k miles would be added to the 36K miles when I bought the car. So I was covered right? Not so fast. Allstate told me that Autolenders filed it as a New car sale and therefore the 60k miles meant that it was for the total It was clear that the car was not "New". That is was clearly a "Pre-owned" car I don't know how they got away with that! I called to clarify and was told that it was in the "fine print" Had the Finance manager told me I was paying $2000 for a warranty that amounted to 24,000 miles I would have balked. They completely misrepresented the warranty to get the extra $36.00 a month. The ethical thing to do would have been to be up front about the warranty and given me the opportunity to make an informed decision Didn't expect that type of shady tactic. i hate buying cars. i am no good at haggling and always feel like i'm being taken advantage of. i needed a new car and thought i'd try out Auto Lenders because they have a "no haggle " policy - the price listed is the price you pay. i looked on line at the cars they had that met my guidelines - they have a huge inventory. i "reserves" one that i liked and made an appointment for the next day. when i got there i was greeted by my salesman Will and he got the car for me. their policy is to allow you to test drive the car without a salesman present. i drive the car to a local park, checked out the car carefully for dents and scratches, and tested it in the parking lot (flooring the gas and slamming in the breaks lol). after the test drive he asked if i wanted to buy it, he asked a few questions, showed me the CarFax, and then arranged financing. i was out of there with my new car in 2 hours start to finish. i did have to ask some questions when he brought back the financing - he didn't tell me everything. this is such an easy process. i think the prices are good but i don't believe they are the cheapest place. most of the cars are retired fleet cars. the one i bought is only a year old , had 35,000 miles on it and was a retired rental car. i went to the AutoLenders in Lakewood new jersey. when you are looking in line you see cars from all of the nearby AutoLenders, if you want to test drive a car from another location they will bring it to the location you request. they also offer a warranty and they have their own repair shop. i would definitely buy another car from them. read more

This was my first car purchase from Auto Lenders. When I entered the showroom, Stratus was my sales rep. I didn't feel any pressure to purchase a vehicle. They offered me a fair trade-in value and worked with me to find the payment and vehicle I could afford. I never felt pressure to purchase the car and didn't go through the rep/manager shuffle at most dealerships. IT may have been a 5 Star had the car been cleaned a little better when closing the deal.. and I am always irritated about paying for the window etching again when I know the last owner already paid for it... but everyone has to make a living. After a month, I haven't had any problems mechanically and after getting it home there were some small surface scratches.. but it's not a new car - so it was fine. I would return to purchase another car because it never seemed like the typially con-game. read more

I have been through dozens of car buying experiences with my friends and family members at numerous dealerships because I never fall for the games that are often played. Never have I been through a pleasurable car buying experience until I met Mike Desposito!! Both times I visited Lakewood Auto Lenders I had no intention to buy right away and both times I ended up leaving with a new vehicle. Not because of I was harassed or pressured like at most places but because he actually takes the time to fully listen to what you need and want and doesn't mind spending as much time as possible to make sure that is exactly what you leave with!! It is a great feeling when you visit Auto Lenders 6 months or a couple years after your purchase and your salesman comes right over and says "Hi Jess, how have you been? How's the Eclipse?" Remembering a name of someone you spend a couple hours with after all that time is quite impressive!! I will never buy a car from anyone other than Mike Desposito because not only is he a terrific sales man but also a wonderful guy who genuinely values and cares about his customers!! They let you drive the car without a salesman. No high pressure environment. No haggle needed. Cars are pristine. They have great warranty programs. They can pull cars from 5 locations. The car we purchased is a 2009 Nissan Altima and you would never know this car is about 4yrs old already. The inside and outside is immaculate. The best part of our purchase was our sales consultant, Steve Price. He was friendly, accommodating, and made our purchase seamless. I was in need of a vehicle but dreaded searching for a one since dealerships attack and hound you once you pull into their parking lot. However, once I parked at Auto Lenders, I didn't feel that vibe. Instead, they calmly and smoothly greeted me and told me that they're here if I need anything and that no one will bother me without my consent. Once I had a question, wanted to test drive a vehicle, or have them search their inventory for another vehicle, they were on it and done so in a timely and professional matter. I was very pleased and satisfied with the way I was treated. Any honest mistakes that were made on their end, they honored them for me with a smile on their face. after looking around at other vehicles i was set on getting a hyundai Santa Fe sport---And after running around from dealer to dealer to dealer i settled for Auto Lenders--i dealt with Marcus (sales) well after some back and forth price dealing-we settled on a price and i bought that vehicle--it had a scratch on the front window across the whole thing (which I thought was a bug smear) but was a scratch--they tried to get it out but had to replace the window--which they did-- i bought the extended warranty from them but havent had to use it yet-- it was from Allstate--all in all-- they did what they promised and the service dept was courteous and helpful--- so far so good with vehicle -so i decided to write this review to say thank you to everyone there at Auto-lenders read more

We purchased a 2010 GMC Acadia from auto lenders in Lakewood NJ and it has been a nightmare since we drove it off the lot. From the time we hit the parkway till now it has been back to auto lenders 8 times. We never even got the car home because as soon as we drove it over 50 mph the whole front end shook. I made the mistake of taking them on their word that it was an oversight. It has had to be towed at least 3 times. It is now back in service and appears to need a transmission. Every time it is in the service dept it needs to be in for an extended amount of time leaving us in a rental that is nowhere near what we purchased. Their service dept actually said that I should get out of the car!! It is a good thing I purchased the warranty bc at less than a year the entire rack had to be replace and it would have cost me over $2000!! GET THE WARRANY!!!!! read more

Just bought a car from autolends and I had a great experience. If you are a person who does not like high pressure sales people and don't want to haggle about a price than this is your place. My salesperson, Chris Hewit, was great and was willing to help with any questions or options I wanted to see. Like all pre-owned cars you will not get 100% of what you want and you will not get the certified benefits of going to the dealership. Finance department was great in getting a finance deal better than I expected. No pressure sales pitch was nice.
