Mark owned the business and has sold it to another entity because he has retired. The previous 20 years with Mark were great. Now, it is relentless demands for money even when they have been paid according to their agreement. They made calls to the foreman asking for more money. Then, after I called and I was told it was an error, they sent yet another demand -- this time for a different amount. They finished up their work on a Friday night and the Owner had not had an opportunity to OK the work, but they sent an email on Saturday, the next day, notifying me I was one day late with the payment. In my opinion GREED is the driving force behind them now. I will never work with them again. read more

They can very promptly they replaced my garage door spring, which had broken. And told me my motor was burnt out and that I needed a whole new one. I decided to wait to get that replaced. Tom, who installed my door, was the best person I have ever had working at my house for any reason. He was here from 9:00 until 5:00 and never even took a 5 minute break. There was a problem with my concrete where the door meets it which caused problems for him. They had to take the door off again and correct that which increased their work time substantially. He and the assistant were so careful when they had to go through my inside entry hall so as to not touch the walls and cover the carpet. I have never had more meticulous workers. Thank you so much for this job. I will highly recommend "Automatic" and specifically Tom. I also want to thank and tell you how wonderful Isabell was in making sure that I got the door that I wanted which was the same style as my old one; I know she had a difficult time finding it for me. Couldn't have had a worse experience. been dealing with them for months and paid for an extraordinarily expensive door for new construction home and now they advise that the "forgot" to order it and we have no door for move in. NEVER NEVER NEVER use... now we have a security issue and puts us at risk for two months to start over. After some construction was done above my garage door, the door would no longer raise up properly. I suspected that the issue was related to the wiring being restapled too tight, but I couldn't figure out exactly where the root of the problem was. Do not call anyone else! These guys are professional - will fix the problem and charge accordingly. I had a company come out to give me a quote and they said 1K to replace the springs. Automatic Garage Door came out and said that the springs are fine! Do not need to be replaced. Only had to adjust the door - it was a little bent and straightened out the bracket up top. Put some WD 40 on the springs and all done at $150 Thank you so much - and thanks for putting the sticker on the door! Now I don't have to remember who to call next time! Awful experience when we purchased a garage door and installation from Automatic Garage Door 3 years ago (more on that below) AND awful "repair" experience this month. The repair person "fixed" one of the brackets only for it to bend and break the next day, completely disabling the garage door. Of course, this was on a Saturday when Automatic does not have anyone available/answering the phones (despite having an emergency number listed on their website). We called Precision Garage Door, they came out quickly, fixed the issue that Automatic made worse and also tweaked other issues that Automatic failed to deal with when they were here the day before (part of their $99 inspection special, don't fall for it, it's a waste!). Should not have issues with door mechanically at all after such a short timeframe! When we had the door installed there was an issue never resolved and Automatic basically said tough luck, it your prob. The door functioned so we chose not to argue. We should have known better than to ever do business with Automatic a second time. Epic fail. And today, they have the nerve to send us a bill for the "repair" that actually made the garage door worse! We called and of course no call back. AVOID! We called next 2 days, no call back. Avoid using for new door or repairs! Awful. Deplorable all around! read more

My old automatic garage door groaned for the last time after many years of uninterrupted service. I called my local hardware store for advice and/or referral. Then I called AUTOMATIC GARAGE DOOR and was told I would have to wait a few days so was scheduled an appointment. A while later I received a call from them stating they had a last-minute cancellation and could arrive in 20 minutes. Owner Mark explained the procedure of the installation and sent Matt over to complete the job which took slightly over 2 hours. There was hardly any noise and the garage floor was swept clean. The garage door is barely audible now. Love the motion-sensor light on top making it safe for me until I leave the garage. I have 2 new door openers, new low sensors on either side of the opening and an opener pad on the outside door frame. I am more than happy to recommend AUTOMATIC GARAGE DOOR. Asked for a routine maintenance that they recommend doing annually. The person came here for ~10 minutes and left. $155 for ~10 minutes! Not even a follow to see if everything was fine. All he did was look around and add lube. Do not engage in their maintenance service - it's insanely overpriced. Just spray machine oil your rollers and save yourself the money. read more

Wow. We called and got an appointment for an estimate within a day. And Mark showed up on time. He was wonderful. We thought we would need a new automatic garage door opener but he decided our system would work for another 2-3 years. And a problem that we had with the touchpad turned out just to be a faulty battery. So he saved us thousands of dollars and didn't charge us for his consultation. I called in as I had concerns about my 40 year old roll up single car garage door and Mark answered the phone. The garage door has been making a lot of noise and almost gotten stuck so I have honestly been worried about it breaking down which I was trying to explain to Mark when he completely cut me off to ask me 4 questions.... 1st question what type is your garage door, roll up or open up sideways etc (I had already told him that) 2 question is it a single or dual car garage (which I had also told him already), moving on to 3rd question do I live at the beach - no and if he had not interrupted me I would have told him my location in the city and the 4th question I think had to do with the door - if it has been serviced in the past. At this point I'm already so annoyed that he's talking over me (loudly too) asking questions I had already given him the answer to / or were getting to and refusing to hear what I had to say. His advice to me was to purchase come WD-40 and spray all over the rollers, hinges etc. and he hung up, rude! I already have been spraying WD-40 on the rollers, hinges and spring for years as the concerns I have did not happen overnight. Frankly I do not want this company ever working on my garage based on the unpleasant conversation I had with Mark (the owner I take it). It had to be the owner as I cannot imagine an employee treating customers this way. Also I'm pretty convinced his tone would have been completely different had I asked one of my adult sons to call in, just a hunch! read more

I actually thought I wrote this review before and I was going to update it. These guys are great! I own a building that needed several roll-up doors installed. They were fast, reasonably priced, and had great customer service. Fast forward several years. I am away from work and our main door breaks down. People that I work with called to get quotes from two other companies. I had to pay $300 and $850 for each quote. I got back to town and called Automatic Garage Door and let the person that answered the phone know what happened. She was equally appalled at the charges from the two other companies, talked to Mark the owner who showed up in ten minutes. Turns out it's a commercial job, so Mark calls a friend and explains that I was just taken advantage of by two other companies. Mark sets the table for another company to come in and to help me. The service and attention to customers are amazing. Mark went out of his way to help, didn't ask for a dime, and made sure we were taken care of. You guys are the absolute best and didn't make a dime off me and saved me the $95 that the garage outfit I called just before I phoned you would have charged me. I would have booked the other outfit who was going to charge a $95 home service call to re-program a couple of garage remotes for us, but they couldn't make it today and I'm heading off in just a couple hours to beat traffic out of town. So I tried the next well-reviewed garage door company on the list and phoned the Automatic Garage Door team. (I had hoped that I could just run into the shop someplace and have them program the remotes off of a working one that I already have so my wife would be all set with remotes while I was away) Lori-ann answered and was so nice, helpful and patient and, after checking the make and model number of our remotes, told me she would walk me thru re-programming the remotes myself over the phone. Of course, I was fumbling about not quite finding the button she wanted me to press and so forth but she was super nice. (And also what a luddite I was for not calling on the omniscient almighty google to most likely provide similar instructions and forgo disturbing Lori-ann, but that would have been at the expense of my not learning of this store, which I am so happy to have done) I've already written down Automatic Garage Door's name (tho it's so generic it almost reads like it can't be a real shop name) and their phone number as I know whom I'm calling the next time the spring breaks or I need some other service! I imagine Mark and his team are what businesses were like a generation or two ago. Flat out honest to a fault. Willing to treat first time customers like family. And by that I mean, telling him the symptoms of my door and he sticking by me through a half dozen missed calls and telephone tag (ALL my fault I would add). He never gave up on me. In the end he gave me encouraging advice that solved my problems. On top of that, he refused to take any payment and threatened to tear up my check if I sent him one! The woman who answered the phone in the office was such a sweetie, too. I envisioned my gramma on the other line. She probably is a lot younger than me. But I got that vibe. Do you know what I mean? I was redirected to this company when I called Wayne Dalton's 800 number and entered the zip code where the property is located. The garage door at the property is rusting and missing some paint. I was calling to get some tech support hoping to decipher the color of the door based on the labels on the door. As soon as the person over the phone heard that I was not a potential customer she couldn't hang up fast enough on me. Here was her answer: If you don't know the color how am I suppose to know. These guys did great work and dealt with some challenging garage situations. And other than delay a day due to scheduling, for the most part they came when they said they would. However, Mark seems to have an opinion that you are there at his pleasure or displeasure - Mark showed up a day later than originally planned and started asking whose cars were on the street because they had several large vehicles coming to do our multi door job. By coincidence my car was on the street in a spot he thought would be good for his trucks to be at, and started shouting outside my window about how I needed to move the car. Hey, I don't mind moving my car to help this process out, but let's be polite about it as it was hardly requested ahead of time. Being 8 in the morning I was getting ready for work and had a meeting at 9 - I had said I would be out there after I was done getting ready but Mark proceeded to shout at me that he had been waiting a whole 15 minutes and he got yelled at by the meter maid for double parking. He went on and on about how he was being professional - wouldn't being professional have been 1) asking in advance if anyone had a spot they could give up, 2) when not asking in advance, being a little patient that he sprung those requests at the last second, 3) when pushed back on to back off and simply give me 5 minutes to get out there to move things. Who would have he yelled at if it hadn't been my car on the street? I don't think it is ever appropriate to yell at a customer and that's what Mark did. So call Automatic if you want great work and shitty customer service. read more
