It turns out that too much fabric was installed on the cover (per recent install crew) which lead to the multiple failures. As a result I had to replace my cover this week (7-25). APC discounted the cover somewhat to compensate but I still had to spend $2800. I felt more should have been done to compensate me for poor quality/craftsmanship.

Ineffective communication & collaboration with the prime contractor, Blue Haven Pools (Lebanon)…read moreresulting in DELAYS & SAFETY FAILURE. APC has two functions to perform: build a wooden box that will house the cover & cover motor, and install the cover & cover motor inside the box. Both resulted in failures, extra work, and delays. In the first occasion, no one from Blue Haven was on site when APC arrived. APC pulled into my driveway like they owned the place, and expected Blue Haven to have the site prepared at the location of the wooden box. Site was not prepared, so the crew left and couldn't be rescheduled for several weeks. Blue Haven would not excavate for them & would not provide the box dimensions. So, I contacted APC and manually dug the site to the dimensions provided by APC. At time of installation, APC showed up with a few guys to unload the equipment, then returned hours later with more guys to install cover & motor. After the cover was installed, it was clear that it was NOT cut to the dimensions of our pool. LOTS OF FOLDS & CREASES that indicate it may be about 2 feet too wide for our pool. Also, the biggest discrepancy with install was not discovered until the City did the final inspection. That's when we discovered the cover lid & cover motor were not properly "bonded" to ensure grounding for electric current. According to APC, their lead tech made a note that it wasn't bonded, but Blue Haven claimed no knowledge of that discrepancy. They had over 1 week to communicate/collaborate & repair the discrepancy before the City inspection. No action was taken. No one told us there was a safety issue & that the cover box was not bonded. This omission was a SAFETY ISSUE resulting in FAILED INSPECTION, and again delayed completion for several weeks. They seem to be nice people, but TERRIBLE working relationship with the pool builder (Blue Haven, job supervisor Tom H. and owner Mike F.)
