That's not reassuring when the report is sitting right there and no one can explain it. As buyers, we expect the person selling us a car to actually walk us through its history, not hand us a report and hope we don't read it closely. If we hadn't asked, we wouldn't have known any of this. Be sure to ask direct questions and read the Carfax yourself before you sign anything here. @CarMaxMurrieta We visited CarMax Murrieta today to get an appraisal on our trade-in. We are the original and only owners of this car and have never been in an accident -- no claims, no repairs, nothing. So we were stunned when they came back and told us there was "frame damage" and asked if we'd been in an accident. We know our car's history better than anyone, and this simply isn't true. It's hard not to wonder if this is used as a reason to lower trade-in offers. If you're bringing a vehicle in for appraisal here, get a second opinion elsewhere before you accept what they tell you about your car's condition.
