We would give a 0-star review if possible. Working with this company has been a disaster. We were misinformed about the availability of an item and requested to cancel the order. The item randomly showed up after we were informed it wasn't available and ordered from another supplier. We have returned the item that was shipped to us and now they refuse to honor the return. From the start they wouldn't respond to our emails or return our calls in a timely manner at all. When they finally did respond they were rude and provided misinformation. Really wish we had investigated this company prior to working with them as this seems to be consistent for them from reading reviews. I set up an online service job for my Corvette A/C control panel. They sent me a shipping label and charged me $275. I mailed it USPS and the tracking # shows it delivered to them June 17, 2023. I've heard nothing since. They kept my core part, core charge, and all of it. No answer to email, phone, or web chat bot. I had to buy a replacement and EAT the $200 core charge. Wish I read the reviews first and that we could issue negative stars. They never answer their phone, never reply to voice mails or emails and will try to keep your core charge. Avoid doing any business this company, they are the worst group of people I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I ordered a climate control unit for my Suburban on October 31, 2022 and was charged a $125 core fee, after a week my order status had not changed. After reading some of the reviews I left a voice mail asking them to cancel the order since it appeared that they had not started on it and within a few hours the order status changed to shipped. I figured that since the unit was on its way I would go ahead and keep it. Once it arrived, I installed the rebuilt climate control on the following day and sent my core back to them that day. USPS tracking showed that they received it so my refund clock started ticking down the 30 days they claim. When the 30 days was up I tried contacting them daily for about a week, phone not answered, voice mails never returned and emails not replied to. Next step was to dispute the transaction, legally you have 60 days from the date of the statement the charge appears on a statement so I had a few days left when I contacted my credit union. I had documented everything I had done trying to get my refund, my credit union issued a provisional refund while they contacted ASI. After 90 days I received a letter stating that the decision was in my favor and the provisional deposit was now permanent. read more

I was told that it was sent over to another dept for the refund to start taking place and that it should only take about 2 weeks to get my refund. I have had a horrible experience with this business. I called to request assistance with an auto ECU that was suspected of being faulty. I paid the rebuild fee in advance, prior to shipping ECU. The company tested ECU, (maybe) stated it could not be repaired, and suggested purchasing a replacement for an additional $700-. I declined. Paid an additional $60- testing fee and unit was to be returned, along with a refund of my original rebuild fee. The company agrees that I'm due to be returned the original fee, but simply will not issue the refund. I've contacted on multiple occasions. I've disputed with my bank, and still no refund. Ironically, after much additional work, the source of the vehicle running issue was located, and the "failed" ECU that this company "tested" is installed and working fine. I highly suggest to avoid doing business with this company. read more

I sent in a customers F355 A/C ECU (climate control computer) originally back on 1/3/20 for repair. They charged my credit card $704 stating it was repaired and being sent back to me. Once arrived, plugged it in and same issues occurred. Sent it back fedex at my expense, Will, the tech, said he found another issue, repaired it and was on its way back to me a second time. 2 more times back and fourth at my expense and still having the same issue. Each time I was told they found another issue with the ECU. Meanwhile I swapped parts with another car to verify the issue was indeed the ECU - it was the absolutely ECU as the one from the other vehicle worked properly. Will said he would process a refund through accounting and suggested I try an alternate route for repair or replacement. There are no used ECU's available for this car so with Will's approval (as to not void any pending refunds through ASI) I decided to send it to ECU Doctors in FL where I was told the following "We have inspected the control unit and we cannot work on it, It's been heavily manipulated with inferior quality soldering and removal of components . We suggest getting a used unit from a reputable dismantler. Returning at no cost." ECU Doctors was kind enough to send me pictures as well at no cost. As of 5/29/20 I still have not been refunded my $704 from ASI despite their stated policy "If we can-not rebuild or duplicate the issues with the controller there will be a $55 Test Fee." I have called once per week since January 3, 2020 and each time I call Alisha answers the phone telling me the accounting department needs another 30 days to process this. - I welcome the opportunity to discuss a resolution with ASI. On a positive note, their tech, Will, is an absolute gentlemen and doing his best to get my money refunded despite this situation. -For the record, as a small business owner myself, I never write negative reviews and always give people the opportunity to do right. Automotive Scientific (ASI) just doesn't seem to get it. Either they've got so much business that they no longer care about customer service or they are charging people regardless of properly repairing these ECU modules. If I did this to my customers I'd be long out of business by now. Bottom line, source a used ECU or find an honest rebuilder - there's plenty of them out there online. read more

On July 10th, I ordered a replacement Throttle body for a 2000 Jaguar XJR from this company as the one on my car failed. It took them about a month to send me one, even though they took payment immediately. The reason: They wanted photos of the old throttle body to make sure they sent me the right one. Note, they never contacted and told me this. I had to contact them repeatedly before a gentleman told me told me what they needed. I got them that information and sent it to them. It was sent on 7/16/2020, 5:21 PM Throttle body received, mechanic installed, and one of the sensors on the rebuilt throttle body didn't work. So, emailed the company several days in a row (multiple times) telling them there was an issue, through regular email, the contact email on the site, AND through their online chat program. Including an email back to the gentleman that requested the pictures telling them I was having a problem with the part. All of these attempts were never responded to. I gave them almost two weeks, then called them and finally got someone. They told me to send the part back, I didn't need an RMA, and I did just that. Weeks pass again. I call them again, and they tell me 'Oh, you have to pay for shipping again'. Er, I was sent a part that didn't work in the first place, and now I have to pay shipping again? Their response: You waited too long to send it back. That's utter BS, as I contacted the company repeatedly to get instructions on what to do, which they ignored/never replied to, using the method they state on their website I should use (as well as on the phone message!. Submit questions through the website. Which I did. Repeatedly.). Given we're in COVID times, I gave them time to reply, as I expected they were short staffed or the like. But after two weeks of nothing from the repeated emails, I called them. As soon I got information on how to send it back, I contacted the mechanic, got the part back, and mailed it to them along with a letter explaining the problem again. After pointing this out to the supervisor (who never gave me his name), he said he'd look into it and they'd likely just send it back without shipping, but heavily implied this was all my fault, the part was fine, etc. Well, that was weeks ago, and they've gone back into silence; no replies. I ordered a used one from another company, it was installed, and hey, it works fine. So, no, the part they sent me did not work, as shown by another one from another company works fine. Furthermore, I've heard nothing regarding this part I sent back to them since they said they'd look into it. I am not spending another $200 to ship the same part to me again. So, I filed a complaint dispute with Paypal in order to try and get my money back, Well, that was closed by PayPal because they said they 'delivered' the item, but didn't mention that I had also sent it back because it didn't work, and never sent me a replacement. I then called them again today regarding this when I got the notice PayPal closed I spoke to another gentleman this time, and the conversation got very heated. I'm out almost a grand, and I'm very frustrated at this point. He said he'd talk to his supervisor and get back to me. That was a few hours ago, and I don't honestly expect I'll hear anything back from them. So, I'm filing a complaint with the BBB as well I'm out $883.01 USD. Update: I was right, they didn't call me back. I had to call them back again. The CS representative was the same gentleman I talked to the day before, and promised he'd call me back. He said he he didn't get a response from his supervisor until that evening, then just forgot to call me the next day. And if they try to dispute that, well, they can't. I recorded the phone call. I'm in a one party consent state, and so are they. Perfectly legal. It only took raising hell, calling multiple times over months to get information, submitting multiple complaints to multiple agencies, and starting the process of involving a lawyer. They still managed to rip me off for $159 though, for their 'restocking' fee. So, yeah, the company is utterly a scammer; they will find ways to get money out of you, one way or another, and provide nothing in return. All of these issues could have been avoided it they would COMMUNICATE. They never call back when they say they will. You have to call them about everything and every update. Otherwise it will just sit in a black hole, you won't get your part, and they'll keep your money. So, honestly, stay away from them unless you enjoy getting ulcers and gray hair. I've never had to deal with such poor service in the decades I've bought stuff. I was curious so i just pulled my PayPal history for five years. I've mad 2100 purchases through PayPal, from many companies. I've disputed only 2. I have a 0.09% dispute rate. i don't do this lightly. After two weeks they said they were not able to repair my module, then charged me double for a refurbished one. It has been 20 days and I haven't received anything. I called today and asked to speak to a manager and they refused saying they would lose their job. Said that they we way behind on orders and short on staff. The first two times it took them about 1 week to "fix". The other 4 times it took them 3-4 weeks. If i knew this would happen, i would have just bought a brand new part! One star because a negative number is not an option! 15 March 2022 I ordered an ECU for my '01 Dodge truck on 1 Nov. 2021, and sent pictures of the original part to verify part and serial numbers, along with the VIN for my truck to have the replacement ECU properly programmed. 47 days later after several calls to inquire I finally received the replacement ECU, and immediately returned the original part in my expectation of getting the $150 core deposit refunded. (USPS, with their return label) After the Christmas holidays my mechanic was able to get the part installed and found that it was WORSE than the original part. I immediately contacted Carly at AutoECU to initiate a new repair on the faulty part. It was shipped back to AutoECU (USPS, my expense) on 12 Jan. My mechanic made multiple calls to speak to the technician, then finally was able to speak to a different tech about the specific codes their ECU was throwing. Another call two weeks ago to find out what the delay was on my core refund and repairing their part, I asked to be notified regularly as to the progress. Since then, nothing. I'm now out $1,241 for their defective part, my original part, and 5 1/2 months of time. I can't even sell the truck now and buy another because they stole my money and the key part to make it run at all. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! I had an instrument cluster repaired, they had the original time plus 2 more times and it was still not fixed. I was told the wiring was bad in my car, had that checked and it was good. I called them to get a refund and was told that I had to get another one or that one repaired elsewhere and show them the receipt to get my refund. I did all they said, brought them all the paperwork, then I was handed their refund policy which said no refunds after 30 days of original receipt. Although I have had a good experience with this company in the past, this time has been a bit different. First, the throttle body I sent to them initially, failed. Ok, it's covered by their warranty, so I sent it back for warranty repair. Took quite a while, but then they sent it back to me. I had to pay the shipping. Put it on the car and it failed immediately. Car never left its parking space. So we sent it back again for a warranty on a warranty. I received a call from the "nice" lady in the office informing me that I had to pay the return shipping. I thought that they should have paid the $20 shipping since their rebuild of my part failed immediately. I was told that my part would NOT be shipped back to me unless I paid up and that if I didn't pay within 30 days, my part (a very expensive throttle body) would become their property. So I paid. And today I received a "crushed on one side" package from them with my part only partially bubble wrapped inside with other packing material on one side of the box only. Their packing is probably the reason for the box's condition as it was literally half empty. Consequently, the part arrived in slightly damaged condition at the connector plug. When my mechanic installs this part this evening, we will know more. Given this experience, I cannot recommend this company. They clearly have no respect for the expensive electronic parts belonging to others sent to them for repair. They clearly have no respect for their clientele. Sadly, this company claims to offer specific services, in my case for a 1994 Chevrolet, I sent the speedo cluster back to them, and they 'fixed' it, the car it was going in was a project and it was about 8months that the cluster sat in the box, unopened undropped perfectly 'serviced'. The day I go to put in the cluster, it doesn't work, good thing I had the life time warranty, right? Not so much, the second technician found five separate faults overlooked by the first tech, this quoted by the second tech who 'fixed' it... The really sad part about this is that I have had to pay for shipping, 4 times now, even though their tech admitted that the first 'repair' wasn't done correctly, shipping for their poor work is on me...total shipping cost, over $100, plus the cost of the initial repair. Avoid this company, they have no sense of customer service what so ever and I hope that this is actually 'fixed' as promised. read more

The ABS Module was returned and received by ASI on August 17, 2017. As of 9/18/17 I am still waiting for my refund. Here is the attached letter sent along with the ABS Module: Per your Technical Department (Mathew) I am returning the enclosed ABS module for a 100% refund. The reason is due to the fact I was not informed nor is there any language within your website or during the sale transaction that specified additional programming would be required before the abs module would work properly. The additional cost to program the abs module for my car was quoted at $300.00 which is completely unacceptable. Mathew was very nice and apologetic and instructed me to return the ABS module for a full refund. He also said he would include notes on my account to verify our conversation. I have sent two messages to their accounting department requesting feedback. No response. Apparently their refund policy says refunds can take up to 30 business days or longer. I order it on 02/26/2020 and received on 3/6/2020 after I called them on 3/4/2020 to find out if it had been ship. The answer was no. B. I paid a mechanic $400 to install and to program it. C. Within 3000 miles after the install my truck threw a code U010C which is a actuator and ecm is not communicating. The part is defective. D. I called ASI and was told to send the part back to them and they would fix it and send it back. Think about this. 1 day for the mechanic to remove the part. 2 days in the mail to ASI. 2 days to repair the part. 2 days back to me. 1 day for the mechanic to reinstall it. This is assuming that the mechanic does it the next day. This is 8 days with out my truck. E. The mechanic cost is $400 to take it off and $400 to reinstall it. It may be as low as $500 to do both if I had the parts first. This does not include any coolant. F. First I was told this is policy that you must send the part back first to be repaired. Than they send you the same part back. Think about it. G. Now I am told that they will send me a actuator if I pay for it up front. Once I send them the actuator back I will be refunded the cost of the original actuator. So now it is okay that $600 of my cash is tide up in another actuator for how ever long and it is okay that I have to pay the mechanic at least $500 of my cash to take it out and reinstall it. Not to mention the monies already spent on this actuator. And remember the website says QUALITY REBUILT AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRONICS. Things happens. I am electrical contractor. I know how I would want to be treated. I would never make someone pay for another part after my part failed. I would have a part over night so that they could get back on the road with little to no down time or expense out of there pocket. We all know when you buy off the internet the warranty is only on the part and not the labor. As much as I dislike it I went with what I thought would be a reasonable fix. Dealers and local shops wanted way more than what I have into it before the 2nd time. Now I am 2nd guessing it. A 5 year warranty looks nice until you may have to replace this part every 3 to 6 months. Quality any more is just a word. There is no meaning behind it. ASI may talk the talk but they can not walk the walk. I would love to hear from others. Is this the way you would want to be treated. My answer is no. Several calls into this and I receive yet another excuse today. So 52 days in I will repost when I receive my money. *update* control head has quit working properly and I am waiting to see how they resolve. I sent my 1998 Mustang instrument cluster for repair of the odometer. Two weeks later the panel was returned and reinstalled. The odometer quit working in 3 miles. I returned the cluster for warranty repair and this repair took 6 weeks. I paid for all shipping, even the warranty reapair shipping!! They also gave me the advice that the Mustang would be dirivable without the cluster. I turns out that it was functional as long as the battery was charged. It won't charge without the installed cluster. Towing fee $200. They also refused to send the repaired cluster directly to my mechanic where the car has been sitting for months!! So, The repair of the cluster cost me $69 original fee, $100 in shipping, $11 in tax, 2 months without the use of the car and, OH, the towing fee!! NEVER EVER USE THESE GUYS!! read more

I attempted to order a rebuilt climate control module for my Jeep in April. Heard nothing so sent messages via the company's website and also left phone messages. It took a week to get any response and then they told me I had ordered a repair, not a rebuilt part. I asked that they refund the money I paid for that and then ordered the rebuilt part again, paying for expedited shipping. I checked this morning only to find that they had cancelled that order because I had notified PayPal that a refund was due on the first order. My next steps may be to report them to the Better Business Bureau and the State Attorney General. read more

Update: after writing this review I received a call and was told that my part number was listed for two different parts, one that had three terminals and one that had four. They agreed that I was sent the incorrect part and refunded me in full. Although I wish this could have been taken care of without the review I appreciate them stepping up to do the right thing. 0 stars. Ordered a ECU for a 06 Chrysler 300 and received a defective non working part, I returned it. After waiting for tech to confirm and waiting longer for a new part to come in I received the wrong ECU. From the order date to this point it was over a month and a half and my son needed a car. I called and was told the part should work the problem was that my vehicle has four wiring harnesses and the part received only has three. They agreed to refund me 100% because of their mistakes. 46 days and several phone calls later I get my refund minus a 98.62 restocking fee. I called today and their response is it was the correct part number and that is why I was charged the fee. When asked about the missing terminal their response is some vehicles have a dummy harness that is not needed. Oh so the wires under my hood connected to a plug are just for show? Funny how their own website showing remanufactured ECU for same model also has four terminals. Funny when searching the Internet for my part includes four terminals. Going through the same issues with this company right now. Lets start from the beginning. Ordered the pcm through ebay was told it would be here in 3 business days. All fine and dandy until the pcm didn't show up until 7 days later! upon connecting the pcm and going through the reset procedures the pcm is no good. The vehicle will not start. plugging the old pcm up will allow the vehicle to start so the problem is in the computer they sent me. Let me remind you that this is for a CUSTOMER here at MY shop! Upon calling the company I am told that I would need to send the pcm back for them to look at. Putting the customer without there vehicle for the holidays. This is not the way I do business and don't expect to be treated this way. read more

Then I waited and waited and waited, website told me it was awaiting disposition. Customer service is non existent, finally I left a message that I would file a dispute with PayPal, then American Express and then the Rogersville, Tn. Police Dept. in that order till they returned my part. Well I only had to contact PayPal and ASI contacted me almost immediately and my part was shipped out that day.
