We told them we couldn't do the compressor and condenser and he tried to back peddle, saying he was just saying the recharge could only last a day, but could actually last 6 months or a year. We said no thanks, went to O'Reilly's where we bought a charge kit and were shown how to use it, and have had zero issues with the now COLD AC. One thing we did find though, was that the day before we came there our oil was recently checked and was full with no leaks. After we left the shop we found that the oil was completely drained, still with no leaks. Apparently when they evacuated the freon, the oil mysteriously left with it.

We brought our vehicle in with multiple issues affecting multiple systems (A/C and brakes), and both were fully addressed and resolved, and we couldn't be happier with the outcome! Details of timelines, diagnostic findings, recommendations of work to be performed, and cost estimates were communicated clearly and professionally. When the A/C issue proved to be more complex and challenging than expected, they were frank and honest with us, and they honored their original estimate, even though they obviously spent significantly more labor than originally quoted. I have a Mini Cooper and not all shops service my car (you know what they say about everything being bigger in Texas - that also applies to cars), plus the Mini dealership was trying to charge me outrageous fees. Long story short, I ended up entrusting my Mini to Tieken and they did a good job swapping my old brakes for new ones. They did it within a couple of hours and saved me time and money. Employees were friendly and informative. The only hiccup I have to report is that they seemed to struggle trying to reset the brake sensor on my dashboard, but the solution was one YouTube video tutorial away and I was able to do it by myself. I had a positive experience and will definitely go back for simple repairs such as this one.

I had them rebuilt my LT1 v8 engine in my Camaro a couple years ago, I only drove it maybe 1000…read moremiles since then, I drove it like a baby b/c I wanted to give it to my son. Things I've found, suspension bolts missing/stripped or hand tight. broken sensors, old plugs were used in the rebuild, they looked worn like 200k miles were on these things, gap was 65-70 when it needed to be 50. wires were old, I had red MSD wires, the ones after the rebuild were black generic, cracked and broken and were arcing. And to top it all off, car now has a major blown head gasket after 1000 miles? I am scared to even think what the crank and the rest of the bottom end looks like. He really screwed me. You'd have to be out of your mind to take any car there. He talked a good game though, but doesn't know what he's doing.

Since the most recent Yelp review of Alamo Classic Ponies (ACP) was posted several years ago, I…read morebelieve now is a good time to share a more recent experience. ACP has been in business for at least a couple Decades dedicated to the service and preservation of early Mustangs, Cougars, Falcons & Fairlanes. Their service shop is typically packed with many classic Fords either in service bays or, the parking lot. I recently acquired a '65 Mustang where the previous owner neglected the car for several years. So, based on a Google search of Classic Mustang Mechanics, I discovered Alamo Classic Ponies. I first wanted a Front Disc Brake conversion installed to improve the safety & stopping power of the original single circuit drum brake system. The car also required a Major Tune-Up and finally, I wanted to install a new Carburetor which would again fix a problem the previous Owner created. I was asked to write a deposit check to start the ordering of the major components and to place my Work Order on a higher priority to be completed. However, it took ACP over a month to order & receive the brake components and another month for the work to be completed. So much for having my $1,500 deposit prioritize my Work Order. The work was eventually completed. The final invoice included additional work which was added by ACP without authorization. To be honest, I would have approved some of the additional work and perhaps deferred the installation of 4 shocks for a later time. The additional work would have been done eventually, I just wish there was better communication on what was being added. In the end I spent more money than I anticipated. My Mustang is back in my garage now and I have enjoyed a couple weekend drives through the Hill Country. As with any Classic Car, there is always a list of things which need attention but, this is part of the joy of owning such a vehicle. I recommend Alamo Classic Ponies for the service and attention they provide. I would suggest, if you're a new Customer, to get as much information in writing before any work is done on your vehicle. Most correspondence is done through e-Mail. It may save you some surprises later if you are specific about what you expect to have done on your Classic Muscle Car.
