I'd give a solid 2.5 stars I went to AutoNation in Westlake because I had a sedan and wanted to upsize to a full-size pickup truck. After a couple weeks of looking, I found one that fit my budget, needs, and powertrain preference. I went in on a Saturday and talked to a wonderful member of the sales team, Denise. My experience here was a mix of equally negative and positive things. Denise was extremely helpful and helped me explore the options between buying new and used and I genuinely didn't feel like she pressured me into anything. I ended up deciding on a used F-150 which I later found out was previously a fleet vehicle. This did not bother me much since I have bought fleet vehicles before and never had issues with them (knocking on wood!). This truck had a cracked side view mirror housing, the rear two tires were bald, and the GPS and infotainment screen had connectivity issues. I owed just about exactly what KBB trade value was on my car, yet they initially offered me about $5,000 under for trade-in. After going back and forth we settled on full KBB value minus the cost to repair the windshield as it had a crack. Here's the crappy part-- during negotiation I politely declined every single add-on that they try to get you with. I didn't want paint protection, didn't want theft protection... typical run of the mill stealership bogus. When I got further into signing paperwork, I got tacked a $700 "paint protection" package that they said they put on all their vehicles dating back 3 model years or newer. I politely declined once again but I was told this had to be part of the deal as it was already applied to the vehicle. I asked if it was some kind of ceramic coating, to which the sales manager replied "we legally can't call it that." I stated once again that I didn't want it, and he said that it was actually part of the price of the car but that they couldn't list it as the price that you pay on their website. I responded with "that sounds like b*llshit to steal money from people." The manager instantly shifted his attitude from positive to flat. I was too far in to signing the financing paperwork to be bothered with this issue--which is exactly what they want from people. I scheduled an appointment later in the week to get everything taken care of that they promised they'd replace. They replaced the two rear tires, as well as the side view mirror. The GPS/infotainment was a different story. They told me I had to call Ford to fix some kind of "fleet block" that the truck had on it. While the truck was in service, I called the proper FordPass hotline and jumped through a couple hoops and then finally spoke to a TAC technician. They said this was the dealer's job and there was nothing they could do remotely but assist the service tech through the process. To make a long story short, service later found out that the telematics control unit needed to be replaced and reprogrammed, and refused to do it asking me for $1100 out of pocket. I now have a 2024 truck with a broken GPS, no FordPass connectivity, no Wi-Fi capability, and a clock that isn't in sync. This is something they promised me they'd fix, but since it wasn't written on a we-owe they're sending me on their way and not doing anything about it. Am I happy? Absolutely not. I spent a good chunk of change on a truck that was advertised one way and ended with an impaired part of the ownership experience--one that is arguably the part that you interact with the most on a car. Would I come back to this dealership? HECK no. I wouldn't even be coming back for their service department. Did I mention they kept the truck from Thursday all the way until the next week on Tuesday, without giving me any kind of updates or a loaner vehicle? The only updates I ever got happened when I called and harassed them. Overall I'd say it was a typical dealership experience, with an extra $1,100 I have to spend if I want my infotainment to work correctly because they lied about their willingness to fix something to make a quick sale, and blatantly gaslit me saying "we said we'd take a look at it, not fix it." read more

A couple of weeks ago, my Ford truck lost power on the highway and had to be towed to the dealership. After their "expert diagnosis," I was told the only solution was to replace the entire transmission for the bargain noprice of $9,000. I was even assured there were no other possibilities and that no one else would be able to help. Like any reasonable person who isn't eager to hand over nine grand, I decided to get a second opinion. Funny how that worked out. The second mechanic found that the transmission was completely fine. The actual problem had absolutely nothing to do with it and was repaired for $300. The truck is now running perfectly. It really makes you wonder how a $300 repair somehow transforms into a $9,000 transmission replacement. If I had simply trusted the dealership, I would have been out thousands of dollars for a repair I never needed. It's hard not to question how many customers have been convinced to approve expensive repairs without ever seeking a second opinion. read more

Their service department is very poor at keeping the customers updated about their car. Everything take too long and when you have a aftermarket warranty, that they sold you. Nothing is done in a timely fashion. After they have your money for a used car, they could care less about you, any problems you are having with the car that you spent over $15,000 on. $3,200 for a aftermarket warranty for the powertrain, that does not cover a engine oil cooler. the oil cooler is a important part of the engine. All I got was it's not covered, Period! So, unless you are buying a new car. This dealership is an absolute nightmare. Decided to make a purchase with them on an available vehicle. Got told by a sales guy that in his experience Focus ST's are terrible and have issues due to his wealth of knowledge on the DCT Focus. Fast forward after I got ahold of someone else who was halfway competent dealing with customers who frankly did a pretty good job considering he was trying to orchestrate the deal from home the following day from my inquiry with a seemingly incompetent desk manager who couldn't, or wouldn't get me numbers for nearly 6 hours of me asking repeatedly only for him to tell me that they now have someone on their showroom looking to buy it. 24 hours straight of practically begging to buy a car all to be totally ignored and passed over. I've actually done a little bit with AutoNation stores considering I live nearly 2 hours away from the nearest one, but now I'll never be back to any of them. read more

Worst experience ever. I built a car online in my account. When i got to store they magically couldnt access it so i had to build it all over again. Then i had to sign a paper to accept the build, but when i asked where the tow package was and accessories, they said oh oh its on there, dont worry. Then when it showed up there was no tow package or accessories. Then they said it was my fault and what i signed for. Sleazefest. Then the salesman got a promotion so he couldn't be bothered. Then the finance office tried to screw me and sign me up for a 9% interest rate when i had already locked a 1.8% rate. Straight up thieves. The novice mechanic after looking at vehicle for 3 hours came and out and said he didn't understand what the issue was, I was like why didn't you come get me sooner!!! I showed him he brought Jim my car adviser, we will get back to him after this; took the pictures and then had to deal with Jim. He was so clueless how to write up this issue he had to get help from the other adviser. Then weeks later I am finding out he didn't submit the claim to Ford Warranty department. I called last week to see what was going on with it and got the run around we will check and call you back... Called this week; Jim had the same answer we don't see any progress let me check and call you back!? I then Tuesday called to speak with the service manager and see if he could help, did the same thing but was a lot more aggressive and disrespectful approach we will check and call you back!!! GUESS what nothing happened nothing, I'm still waiting for a call and the problem with my car still doesn't have any answer yet!? It has been a month and no call back or progress!!! This is completely unprofessional, and these people need to be trained on how to deal with issues and get back in a timely fashion to relive stress and not knowing the unknown!!! I went to this location when I traded in my vehicle for a 2013 F150 with about 100,000 miles on it. did a test drive and the vehicle ran perfectly now in the last three months I have been at the service department four times because the truck is having engine issues. thank God, most of it is covered under warranty, but I work a full-time job and my vehicle is a big part of my job and I don't have time to be playing these games. so just be careful buying a used vehicle from them. I brought my car in for what we thought was a relatively minor accident on May 4. This is being submitted on Aug 1 and the car is still not fixed. Matt at the collision center will not return calls much less be proactive and call customers with an update. Parts are late and repairs balloon out of control. At one time I was told that oil was spewing all over the place and the car wouldn't go backwards 'but don't worry we didn't drive it anywhere'. Each week another new part was needed. The car needed to be returned 6+ times and still is not fixed. It was a horrific experience in which I never experienced anything like it. Next step will need to be the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint. read more

My husband dropped our car off for a recall. He was willing to wait, but they told him that it would be a while so they would shuttle him home and return the car to us by 5:00 pm. At 5:00, no car. He called, and service was closed. The most they could offer him was their apology. He missed work that evening because they didn't bring it back until the next day. my grandson who has no idea what he is doing and has no sense took in a 2024 Kia K5 and trades it in on a 2018 Subaru. His car was paid for and this dealer saw this young kid that had no idea what he was doing. It made a deal and sold him a car with 84,000 miles, no warranty and sign him up for around a$15,000 loan for 72 months. Don't tell me this dealer has credibility and don't tell me they didn't see this and had a big laugh about it. Unfortunately, I've reached three strikes with Autonation Ford - and they're officially out. I recently scheduled an appointment online, including pick-up, to investigate a noise I was hearing since my new tires and rotors were installed. Online scheduling was easy. I received a text message reminder the morning of my appointment, and was ready and waiting for the service valets to come pick up my car at the scheduled time - 9:45 a.m. By 11 a.m., there was no sign of the service valets. I called to check on the status, and the kind lady at the call center was not able to get in touch with the service department. They weren't picking up phones. I was advised to call back if I did not hear back within the hour. I received a text 15 minutes later confirming the valets were on their way. My service advisor contacted me via text to confirm what the issue was. I received another notice around one that my car had been officially entered into the service system (my appointment was for technically for 11 a.m.). And after that - crickets. I texted my advisor for an update 4. No response. I called the service center and was directed to her VM - I left a message. No response. I texted again at 5:35 for an update. No response. I called the customer service line and jokingly asked if I needed to just get into an Uber to get in front of someone for an answer. They responded that that might actually be the best way to get a response as no one was answering phones. I did not receive any sort of update from the service center that day. Apparently, they were just keeping my car for the night. Fortunately, I do not depend on my vehicle for my job. Otherwise, I would not have been able to make it to work the next day. This lack of basic communication is not okay. Had someone reached out to let me know they were really busy and would be late picking up my car that day - I would have understood. If my advisor had just taken a few minutes to respond to my text or call me to let me know they needed more time, or to give me the option to come pick my car up, I would have understood. Instead, I was told my best option was to pay for a car service at my own expense in order to get a response because no one was willing to pick up a phone. This is no way to run a business. The next morning, I received a message that my car was finally being checked. They found the issue and eventually fixed it. I wonder if it had something to do with the way my new tires and rotors were installed. I didn't even bother asking - I knew I wouldn't receive an answer. And when I've ask for a call for a deeper discussion in the past, the request has been ignored. So, that was strike 3. Strike 2, as noted in an earlier review, had to do with a customer service rep hanging up on my mid-sentence. Strike 1, lack of detail with an oil change - not replacing the sticker, not updating warning panel lights. Not a huge deal, but apparently a harbinger of things to come. I don't know when this location took a turn for the worse. I patronized it for years with great experiences. After my trusted service advisor, Jason, left, it all went downhill. My next service will be handled elsewhere. I plan to purchase a new car in the next year, and I will not purchase from this dealership - or frankly, any Autonation dealership. My highly desirable trade-in will likely go to Carvana. I considered letting this review go, however, after receiving no less than four emails asking for my feedback, I decided to provide it. Hope it helps. I know the standard response to poor reviews is to encourage the customer to contact the GM. I'm still waiting on that return call from my complaint two months ago. So, Dean, if you care to reach out, please do so. My name is on the review and in your system. I refuse to waste any more time trying to make meaningful contact with your team. I went into this location for a scheduled oil change and tire rotation after sitting there for 2 1/2 hours they notify me that there were other things that were wrong with my vehicle however, no oil change was done after sitting there that long however they did proceed to charge me for a $38 tire rotation very unprofessional not to do what I brought my car in there for.instead they proceeded to find things that were wrong to get me to spend more money. I have bought every single car for the last 20 years there and done all my service there, but I will not be going back due to this unprofessionalism of the people that are working in the management positions. my wife and I found a vehicle and went with a budgeted price (monthly payments). The saleswoman was polite but the way the finance department haggled us about our budgeted amount was uncalled for. We budged a little on the budgeted price and the 3rd time they came back they were within $20 of the budgeted price. when told we couldn't go any higher the one manager said it's only $1 a day. That comment made us feel like we were just numbers to them. I ordered a custom Bronco Outer Banks in Mar 2022. I was told I would receive regular emails telling me when my Bronco hit production, when it would be shipped, when to pick it up, etc. And it could take 1, 6, or 12+ months. I never received a single email (aside from marketing/promo messaging trying to get me to buy ford accessories, service, etc., for a vehicle I didn't have), yet a friend who also ordered a Bronco about 6 months before I did. Instead, I called monthly, only to be told there was no info. Until my husband called in Sept and found out that our SUV would be produced Sept 19 and delivered Nov 2022. Fast forward three days. I got a call. The Bronco was done, and we would have 5 days to pick it up once it was delivered. We frantically tried to figure out who was wrong AND come up with the money/time to pick it up. Fast forward to the day we picked up the SUV, and the inaccuracy, misinformation, and false promises continued. The sales rep said one thing, the finance manager another, and the manager something else; the price of our vehicle changed, and instead of just making the adjustments right then and there - we had to pay $2k+ more and wait for Ford to send us our money back; our auto show coupon ($250) discount expired, etc. After a series of calls to Ford Corp and the Westlake dealer, I have now learned that the $2k refund I was promised by Will Ahonen, Internet Mgr, Nate Ford, Sales Mgr, and Harry, the previous finance manager, at AutoNation Ford Westlake when I bought it was a mistake & should never have been promised. Ford Corp said the dealership promised and sold me a car at a specific amount and promised there would be a refund (I have the original signed ordered/purchased paperwork), so they should honor their commitments & issue a refund. Westlake says that we got a "good deal" and ADMITTED they made a mistake but are refusing to pay what they promised. Whether or not we got a "good deal" is not the point. About a year ago I took my 2 year old truck to Westlake due to a battery problem, the truck had to stay the weekend since they had no diesel technicians available (yes, even for a battery check) until Monday. Monday I was informed that they replaced both batteries and it was all under warranty. Keep in mind my truck doesn't see much hard work as I special ordered it and it is likely the only new vehicle I'll ever buy. After I picked up the keys I went out to the parking lot and before I can even get the key in the door I find a hefty dent at EYE LEVEL in my driver door. I can't fathom they didn't notice this, just hoping I'd drive away before noticing. My pristine truck had received it's first blemish in the form of an eye level dent. I went back in side and returned with a manager, to their only benefit they apologized and offered to repair the damage. Over the next two weeks the body shop worked on the quarter-sized dent by removing the door, dismantling it entirely, re-priming, filled the dent and repainting the door since ordering a painted door isn't a thing. I was assured that I would not be able to tell it was ever damaged. After a week I stopped by and inspected what they had done and found it looked like crap, every scuff from the body work was very visible. They assured me that it was not done it and still had to be wet sanded. So I relented and gave them another week to finish the job. After another week the truck was ready. I looked that patch over with ever bit of scrutiny that I could and could only find the tiny variations between the new paint and the stock paint. Although I was satisfied I still upset that I took in a new truck and felt like I was leaving with a used, reconditioned truck. It's been a year later and what ever wax or polish they used to get me out the door has worn off, which is apparently the last item they had to do that second week. I can once again clearly see every scuff and scratch from the bondo they slathered on the dent. Which greets me at eye level every time I open the door. In addition, the keypad in the door had not worked since that visit. Autonation offered to take a look at it but I'd be leaving it there another week, which I was not going to do. I finally just got the keypad fixed at another dealer for $221.95. Do yourself a favor and avoid this location, especially for body work since they can't even fix their own mistakes. read more

The sales guy was great. We like the vehicle we got for our daughter. But when the time comes for the paperwork, that's when things get shady. They lump tax etc into the final price in the paperwork. It wasn't until I got the title that I saw the actual price paid for the car. After I deducted the warranty cost, doc fees, title/reg fees, there was an $800 overcharge. When I contacted them to find out why, I was told that it was an "appearance protection" fee that was applied to the car to protect the interior from spills and stains and the clearcoat from peeling or chipping. This is something we didn't ask for nor agreed to. I have always been loyal to businesses I deal with until I feel they have done me wrong. I doubt I will be doing anymore business with AutoNation since they didn't seem interested in making things right. read more

My 2015 Ford Taurus has been at AutoNation since November 17, 2022. The car needed the water pump and the windshield washer pump replaced. I have an extended warranty. That took 2 weeks for the warranty company to approve the work. It's December 10th and I still don't have my vehicle. There has been no phone calls on the progress of the work or has there been return calls after my phone call inquiries. I've done business with AutoNation for 30 years, all the way back to when it was John Lance Ford. I probably will need to look elsewhere to do business. Almost four years ago, I went to purchase a car for the first time. I settled on a 2013 Ford Fiesta, noting the cars strong safety rankings, good gas mileage, and small size, which I THOUGHT would be perfect for me. Now, after many repairs, a car accident, and countless more near misses, I am truly regretting that choice. Due to a faulty transmission that Ford manufactured and installed in thousands of Fiestas and Focuses, my car regularly cannot accelerate quickly enough to clear intersections or get up to speed on the highway. This is the cause of a car accident that I had in 2013, where I could next get through the intersection in time. I have had this car into multiple Autonation locations to be repaired, only to be told that this is a "known problem" with this year of Fiesta. I am fed up with feeling unsafe for myself and my son each time we have to drive in my Fiesta, fed up with Ford for telling me that this is NOT a safety issue (which clearly it is), fed up with being told there's nothing to be done about this, and fed up with Autonation for selling a vehicle to me that cannot safely and reliably get me and my family from point A to point B. Someone needs to step up and take responsibility for this unsafe vehicle. read more
