Vehicle towed to auto tech. They quoted me a price which I accepted. My mistake fuel pump module assembly ($1,300.00). 1200 miles later and 8 months same issue. Had it towed late at night. The mechanic repaired it for 500.00. Auto tech said I had to have it towed to them but I couldn't tow it again. read more

We chose Auto Tech even though it cost us extra to tow our 1996 Tacoma from Kamuela, about 60 miles away. We were familiar with their expertise and honesty, and once again they didn't disappoint. Greg was very transparent with all his recommendations and although it took quite a while to diagnose our truck's problems, he solved them with his diligence and follow through. Very nice people, the receptionist is so friendly and helpful. I'm grateful for the job that they did on my car, an oil change. The only thing that I was a little disappointed was the wait time. Mt appointment was at 10 a m and we sat and waited till almost 11a m before they even pulled the car in.to work on it. Waiting w/an 18 month baby...not good. I know there is such a thing as Hawaiian time but, hopefully, not too often. Overall, I like the the service on the car and the sweet lady at the front desk. read more

Staff was friendly and efficient. Lobby/waiting area was clean, parking is a bit weird but now a big deal, easy to find off street. Just had a general oil change which I thought to be a bit expensive since my car isn't super fancy lol $79 and some change. Whatever they got it done a 1/2hour before the estimated time, which is ALWAYS appreciated, I was in and out, they didn't find anything wrong thanks baby Jesus May try another spot just for pricing but over all I give it 5stars and would recommend to others but warn them of the steep price. read more

So glad I decided to get my serviced here. I recently had my old 03 Lexus ES330 with AC refrigerant leak problem. Made an appointment, dropped the car off in the morning, and was able to pickup the next day. It was a pretty big job $$$ but driving around in Hawai'i with no AC is NOT fun. There were some minor issues unfortunatley so I had to come back a week or two later, but Aaron who works in the front was very communicative, prompt, very professional and kept me up to date of progress. This is a welcome change of pace -- these folks really try to treat you like they'd want to be treated. And it does not fizzle after they have your car in the bay -- they are consistent about treating you good every step of the way. And that makes it so Very easy to get from point A to point Z. We called, and explained what we thought we needed and they were actually INTERESTED in listening. And then they welcomed us to drop in. When you get there, the same great attitude prevails. They are careful to listen and put down what your concerns are, and give you good estimates on how long it may be and what the price range will be. We were able to watch interactions with several others while we were there -- same thing -- they seem to have the desire to be helpful to everyone that has the good sense to come in their door. We noticed a few people we knew in the waiting room -- if only we had talked to them before about where they took their autos (maybe they want to keep it a secret?)... I've been to a handful of places all over this side of the Island -- and this is hands down the best experience I've had. To most you are a $ sign. I don't get that impression here at all. They follow up with you about what's going on. We being on an island -- you can't exactly fedex a part in like if you were on the mainland -- and so I think they put a lot of effort into sourcing -- they (there were two {one was camera shy -- see our photo} at the front counter) were very busy handling calls the three times we went into their offices. But in between -- we were never left out of the loop. They did not try to hide when they had someone "just not show up" -- and it just made us feel like they truly were being honest, like their logo says. When was the last time you actually KNEW what was going on with your car when you left it for service? When was the last time you were not worried you go in and the bill would be 1/3 higher than quoted? These people make sure you know what your costs will be and are careful as well to make sure you know your options. And they are considerate to keep you posted about when you can expect to get your car -- and call promptly when it is finished. No surprises, the way it should always be. To top it off -- they have a nice waiting room, and they are conveniently located just off the main highway and close to a gas station. Also nice restrooms -- AND you can walk to several places in the area to get a bite to eat if you needed to! I had been by this place so many times -- but for some reason (I guess the colors of the building) thought they were an auto parts store. They are much more than just a parts resource. So glad I finally woke up and noticed (actually I discovered them on Yelp!) -- I needed to feel good about going to get my car fixed again! And so should you! TLDR: Autotech is an honest company and will do whatever it takes to make your vehicle run the way it should. I took my car in for an oil change and to see why I was getting low power errors on my vehicle. In theory that is a relatively simple request. It turns out there were a few more things wrong with it that they informed me of. I was disappointed because this was going to cost more than anticipated but I agreed to it. The owner, Greg, even promised to drive the vehicle to and from work after making the fixes in order to ensure it was running properly and there was not any more work needed. After this was a long list of issues. It was unclear where the issues came from and in order to solve them it took over 2 months, tows to and from Ford (from Autotech), multiple mechanics, several pieces of equipment, and many phone calls. This was a stressful period but I felt good knowing that Greg was dealing with the issue personally and that he was willing to keep me informed every step of the way. He also assured me that I would not be charged a whole bunch of additional labor hours because it was unclear where the mistake was made. They clearly wanted to solve the problem and get my vehicle fixed despite losing money on me as a customer. At the end we negotiated a deal for the additional work and parts and he was more than reasonable. Probably much more so than other companies may be. It is hard to convey how long and drawn out and complicated this process was but dealing with these guys really made it less painful. It did not cost and arm & a leg like I was worried it would have especially with it being worked on at their shop for a couple months. Even after such a long ordeal, Greg still drove the car for a couple days to make sure it was running properly. These guys do good work and truly care about their customers. Thanks Greg! read more

They quoted me $1600 to fix a few things that did not need repair.I took the car in town asked for the same repair $112.00. Greg Cox at Auto Tech was very helpful when our Ford Explorer bit the dust. While diagnosing the problem and while we decided whether or not we would make the repairs, he saved us hundreds of dollars by giving us a loaner car for our use. While we ultimately decided the repairs would be too costly, he continued to deal fairly with us and saved us the trouble of trying to dispose of the car by purchasing it for a nominal amount, intending to make repairs himself. He is dedicated to customer service and understands that a satisfied customer is a customer that will return, as well as one who will share with others the good news of having found a reliable and skilled mechanic who will deal with you fairly and honestly and treat you like a valued customer, even if there doesn't appear to be any great value to him at the moment. When I moved to Kona I received a "free" car with the house I bought. I did not know any good repair shops and my new (to me) 2000 Chevy Cavalier Convertible would not travel in a straight line, wandered all over the road, and completely wore out the left front tire after only a few miles. I figured the front end needed some major work so I called around to different shops, visited a few, and went in to talk to Carla at Auto Tech in Kealakekua. Carla was the only shop that had a flat rate on repairs. She quoted me fair prices on the alignment and also on the other possible problems she thought it could be right up front. I was very comfortable with her and got the alignment which took the mechanic an extra hour and a half with no extra charges. It turned out to be just a major alignment and now steers great. On the test drive the mechanic found two other issues and I decided to fix one of them now. Carla ordered the parts off of Amazon, believe it or not, and I did not pay tax or shipping. How cool is that!!! The bottom line is I have had two repairs, excellent work and fair prices. I highly recommend this shop. read more
