Our check engine light came on amongst other things, just outside of town on our way thru to go camping. We turned back and tried the ford dealership but being as it was Saturday afternoon they would not be able to help us until next week. We went to the auto zone place on their recommendation. The staff did the code reader diagnostic, told us what was wrong assisted with getting the part and pointers on replacing. It was 98 degrees out and we have small children. I use Snap Shot through my auto insurance, Progressive. It's a plug-in device that monitors my driving habits when installed near the base of my steering column. The plug-in needed to be replaced, and when the new one arrived, I had the worst luck getting it installed because it was to be plugged into something that wasn't secure. At my age, I also could not crouch down, twist, and manipulate my body to reach and finish the task. I called Progressive and was told that any Auto accessory establishment could assist, so I took my car to AutoZone on 21st St. in Lewiston, Idaho. Even though I wasn't a purchasing customer, when I walked in and explained my situation, Whitney D immediately volunteered to help. Though this task had to be attempted in the most uncomfortable position and with no secure backing to assure it was plugged in, she managed to get it installed! She didn't complain or say any of the many words that spewed from my mouth when I attempted. My car battery died somewhere up in the mountains in Oregon. After getting a jumpstart, I drove my car for 3 hours - never turning it off - until I got to the AutoZone in Lewiston. They were fantastic. Heather (I think) helped me choose a battery and then installed it for me. I was on my way with a much more reliable car in about 20 minutes.
