We broke down in an area we weren't familiar with and didn't know what to do. After calling around, we were blessed to speak with Gene. He told us that if we could get the car there by 3:15 p.m., they would do their best to get it looked at that same day. Unfortunately, we had to wait on a tow truck and knew we'd be arriving much later than expected. When we called back, we asked if we could at least drop the car off while we figured out a hotel. Gene told us to come on in because he had spoken with one of the technicians about our situation, and they were still willing to help us. From the moment we arrived, Gene made us feel welcome. He immediately gathered our information and made sure we were comfortable. Several employees offered us complimentary drinks, let us use the TV area, and even brought my daughter a coloring book, toys, and a tiger mask. One incredibly sweet employee even took the time to fix the tiger mask when it came apart. Their kindness meant so much to us. The wait wasn't long at all. Gene returned with the technician, Mike, who performed a diagnostic test and quickly identified the issue. He sat down with us, explained everything clearly, and even helped us come up with a plan for the rest of our trip. He personally test-drove the car to make sure it was safe, cleared the code causing the warning, topped off our oil, and then went above and beyond by calling Hyundai on our behalf. He discovered there was an active recall covering the issue, found a Hyundai dealership along our route that could complete the repair for free, and gave us all the information we needed. We truly felt supported every step of the way. They told us they "treat everyone like family," and that's exactly how they treated us. During a stressful and uncertain moment, they gave us peace of mind and genuine kindness. I truly believe they were God-sent. I pray God blesses Gene, Mike, and the entire team tenfold for the compassion and care they showed our family. Thank you all for everything you did for us. I found the shop by luck from my google search. Reviews look promising & as I was traveling alone I wanted to find a trusted shop if I could. Well, I did! Grady got me with a tow truck, got my trailer situated at his shop and even let me use his utilities as we had to stay the night to wait on the part. He ended up saving me $300 on the part (my vacuum pump went out) and had us back on the road by the next morning. I wish he wasn't a 3 1/2hr drive to get to otherwise he'd be my new mechanic!! Nobody is confusing this place with the Disney World of gas stations. But Busy Bee absolutely wants you to know it studied the Buc-ee's playbook in great detail and copied enough homework to pass the class. And honestly? Respect. After hours on the road, I pulled in needing gas, caffeine, food, a restroom, and probably some emotional reassurance from the highway gods. Busy Bee delivered on most of it. First off, the bathrooms were clean. Not "gas station clean." Actually clean. That alone immediately moves a roadside stop up at least one full star in America's travel grading system. Then came the snack exploration phase. They had homemade jerky, specialty snacks, random road trip impulse purchases, and enough "well I wasn't planning to buy this but here we are" items to keep me wandering around longer than intended. It's the kind of place where you walk in for a drink and somehow leave holding candied pecans, smoked sausage, and a giant bag of pork rinds you'll later regret in silence. The overall vibe was solid too. Convenient. Clean. Easy stop. Good energy from the place itself. The employees though? Let's just say the staff had the collective facial expression of people who may have originally applied at Buc-ee's and ended up here after the universe made other plans. Nobody was rude. But there was definitely an emotional support shift happening behind the counter. Still, for a highway stop, Busy Bee absolutely gets the job done. It's a good place to refuel both your gas tank and your stomach before heading back into the chaos of interstate survival. This is probably a true three-and-a-half star stop if we're getting technical about it. But Yelp refuses to acknowledge the beauty of nuance, and I'm feeling generous today. So four stars it is for the little roadside gas station that looked at Buc-ee's empire and said, we can absolutely make a run at this thing.
