It was related to our fuel system using DEF (diesel exhaust fuel). After contacting our Spartan Chassis Co, they directed us to Rush Truck Center. What a great bunch of people. They took us in that day to do the diagnostic evaluation. It's Monday....They called to get a new sensor unit ordered, it arrived overnight (Tuesday). Early Wednesday morning, the mechanic started the work. We were all finished by 11:00 and ready to get back on the road. We drove out, got about 3 miles and the "check engine" alert started flashing again. We turned around to get back to Rush Truck Service. Luckily, a campground was just down the street. BUT.... through no fault of Rush Truck.... the part that was sent was faulty!! . So, another unit had to be ordered. A new unit came in on Thursday..... it worked !! Though delayed for 4 days, we are back on the road for our trip. Thank you to Scott for all the work he did. Everyone was nice to deal with.

I advised them that my front rear was making clunking a noise. I further advised them that the front drive shaft was turning but not the rear, and I was able to move the truck by flipping the power divider. I told them to order a new rear because I wanted to limit my down time. Took them until late Friday before they even took the broken rear out and waited too long to order the rear and now they couldn't get it until Monday the 24th. On Monday the 24th, the rear did not get to the shop until after 3pm. On Tuesday the 25th, they realized that they ordered the wrong one, and of course the correct rear doesn't arrive until after mid-afternoon. I was assured that my truck would be finished on Wednesday the 26th so I checked out of the hotel, and a 6pm when they were closing they informed me that now my truck won't be done until Thursday the 27th. So now it is one full week to put in a front rear.... and to top it off it took 2 hours to write up my bill, and now its after 12pm. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BRING YOUR TRUCK TO RUSH PETERBILT IN LAKE CITY, FLORIDA!!!! UNLESS OF COURSE YOU WANT TO BE SCREWED OVER! IF MY TRUCK BROKEDOWN IN FRONT OF THIS PLACE I WOULD HAVE IT TOWED SOMEWHERE ELSE! UPDATE: 05/03/23 After driving approximately 2600 miles, a wheel seal on the same axle that was replaced started leaking. When the rear was replaced I opted to have new bearing kits installed on the rear instead of just cleaning them. Unfortunately to get the repair covered under warranty I had to return here. It turns out that the safety ring that holds on the hub nut came off because it was installed incorrectly. This caused the hub nut to back off and the wheel to become loose and the wheel seal to fail. Thankfully the wheel didn't come off and hurt someone. I also contacted the general manager, as he replied to my negative review and stated they wanted to make things right. All I got was excuses and an apology... I believe that their response was an attempt to publicly save face, but nothing more. Because nothing was done to make things right

As soon as they heard the warranty expired they began to try different tactics to increase my bill. They reassembled my "15 International Prostar and failed to put 10-15 out of 20 bolts back in the oil pan. I caught them red handed when I picked up my truck. The mechanic and I went under the truck so I can show him where they were missing from. He got tools while his general/district manager took me inside the office he said to give me my repair invoice. He then claimed to not know where it was at. When I went back outside the mechanic was finish putting the missing bolts in (so I thought). This was all the result of an in frame job. Now on my way home the check engine light came on so the next business day and for the next two weeks I was in and out of this shop. The 4th time I was heading back within 3 weeks I called ahead and the service advisor Paul Thomas said don't bring it back because it was normal for the truck to continue to need an excessive amount of oil due to the pistons they replaced. This was the same problem as I originally went in for. He lead me to believe the problem would correct itself over time. Well in the mean time I kept paying for oil and due to the oil light coming on within days of that phone call I took my truck to another International dealership. They gave their best guess as to what was wrong. I replaced that part twice as well as the other parts other repair shops charged me for. Nothing fixed the problem. Loves repair shop advised me to clean the motor off. When I did I let the truck run for 4 hours and then low and behold I saw oil leaking through the same missing bolt holes. The bolts were never put back in the oil pan. I called Rush they stated the bolts must have vibrated out which they state is not uncommon after time. I took my truck to Ward International in Tallahassee they found not only missing bolts but broken bolts. Rush couldn't explain but denied responsibility. They stated because they did not have a record of my complaint when I picked up my truck that none of their mechanics nor the general/district manager could remember me ever complaining about missing bolts. They advised if I didn't have pictures of the missing bolts at pick up they would not accept liability. Since they never gave me my repair document until a year later I did not know until after Ward informed me that the bolts were broken also, that Rush mechanic also noted on my original repair document that he needed to drill out broken bolts. Bam their is evidence I needed to show the problem existed at the time of Rush repair and the bolts did not vibrate out over time. Additionally, when I provided receipts to show excessive oil consumption continued throughout the entire time from when I left Rush, I received a response from Rush legal department Alexis Wagner, that she couldn't confirm the oil was purchased for my truck. She said that was because I needed a vehicle identification number on the receipts. When do you go to a store to purchase oil and the cashier ask what is the vin number for your truck? Plus Navistar International gives instructions to the dealerships regarding excessive oil consumption. They state they are to simply advise the consumer to keep track of the oil consumption. Although the service advisor never told me to do that because I am a owner/operator I kept record of my all my repair expense and receipts. Nothing is mentioned that a vin number is required on the receipt. Now, the truck had to go back to the shop after Ward fixed the oil pan leak by replacing the gasket, missing and broken bolts and clamp, I check the oil and it has a red tint. Low and behold the ENTIRE MOTOR MUST BE REPLACED the inframe job has failed per the Manufacture Navistar. Ward stated this type of job should never have to be redone especially not within a year. Rush has made so many false statements to deny liability, it is obvious they will sabotage their customers truck to try to unjustly enrich themselves. As most know each time you go to them its $200 plus to diagnose the problem. They have a 90 day warranty but after taking my truck in so many times within a 30 day time span and they never fully remedy the problem I believe when Paul Thomas aka JPaul told me it will resolve itself over time he said that because he needed the warranty period to expire so the bill can be my burden. We are preparing to file a lawsuit against them. I won't tell you to not take your truck this shop but I will tell you that you are doing so at YOUR OWN RISK.

As most Class A owners understand it's critical that if you own one of these beast that you need to be able to do some minor repairs yourself or at least have some trouble shooting skills or have a very deep wallet, my skills vastly outweigh my wallet and I enjoy doing as much of the service myself, but with the technology advances in electronics it becomes an almost impossible task to track down all the issues even with detailed schematics, there are reasons that Freightliner has certified trained mechanics and especially when things are under warranty it's important to take it to the professionals. My initial conversation was with Phil the Service Manager he was very professional and friendly and most importantly knowledgeable, after a few minutes of me explaining what my issue was he immediately took over and told me he understood the cause and then checked his parts inventory and told me he had the solution in stock and told me if I showed up he would do his best to fit me in the schedule without having to make an appointment. He also followed up with a call after looking at the shop's schedule and we agreed that I'd show up the next day which was incredible to me being a few of the other service centers that were closer could only set appointments as far out as January 2022 without providing any trouble shooting advice which was very disappointing. I showed up as we agreed and although they were just opening at 7:00 AM and the shop was filled with trucks and RVs I was greeted by Tim who was busy working on a diesel rig but took the time to introduce himself and directed me to the service desk where Phil resides he also told me he would be the one installing the new module - Phil took my information while Tim proceeded to check out my RV. I was in and out with my issue resolved in less than 30 minutes after arriving which completely blew me away, this was really an unexpected level of customer service and I really appreciated the attention and professionalism - Tim made sure the everything worked after the repair was completed and also took great care during the repair to ensure that my RV was left as he found it. Being it was Warrenty work there was no charge - this is definitely the shop I want to service my MotorCoach going forward and definitely one I'll recommend to anyone looking for quality diesel repairs - these guys are the best...
